Agreed. There's a moral to the story. Don't miss the fairway :) They're not as rare as you think. You can bet money it happens to a B-level pros all the time and they're just not noticed or not well known at all.

I have no idea where you can buy one, but let me tell you that you've got to cut it often because it gets abused at my course. People seem to putt to it about 5x more often than the other cups. If we have a tournament, by the end of the day it's a spike mark warzone.

What I mean is that there is not even a point in improving your lie. Once you get the fact that it doesn't help, you'll stop doing it. No, that's not what I mean. I mean Michelle Wie hitting moss in a bunker, and accidentally dropping closer to the hole. I mean Monty not marking his ball correctly. I can assure you that they aren't doing it on purpose. They know that there are about a thousand people who know the rulebook by heart who are following/watching them.

I don't really think that "improving" your lie in the fairway actually helping your shot at all. Unless you play on really long-cut fairways... I think it just helps your mental feeling about the shot. I don't belive it actually helps you at all. But to the main point, it's easy on an internet board to say "I play by the rules" but the truth is that nobody, not even pros always play by the rules. The fact is that only the ones with a lot of cameras on them get caught. I'm not saying that they do it on purpose, but accidents do happen. When we're playing high school matches in the spring they allow lift, clean, and place for 90% of the matches we play. So, I do sometimes find myself doing that during times when the fairways are soft. But now? No, I don't even think about improving them now. Like I said, I don't think it even helps.

My dad is the boss for a health food company. He's about a 15 and he is very competitive. But I don't think that he has ever lost and tried to fire someone. He just loses and doesn't really think about messing with someones job. That's not right in my view.

Yes, I always hit a small bucket if I can. Usually about 30 or 40 balls. Mostly irons, and I'll hit 4 drivers at the end of the bucket.

I agree with the camera angle... and I don't think Tiger can hide anything. If he hasn't figured something out yet, then it's not going to be figured out.

All of the tips above are good. But I would suggest that you only take one of these tips at a time.

watching a spot on TGC yesterday... head movement?
Konrad replied to prutkows's topic in Instruction and Playing Tips
I agree with the above, except you should allow swivel your head on the backswing. -
Yes, Ernie is the man this week.

I play with someone who uses one. Sure, it's different. But annoying to the point of leaving a driving range? Not even close.

Exactly. For all we know, she just wasn't clicking with her caddie. It's like a marriage. Sometimes it doesn't work out.

Wow... that's pretty extreme. Do you also have to spray people with a scent who smell bad?

Uhhhh, no. I don't think that you can not win an event and be ranked second. It's very funny that she was ranked ahead of Rookie of the year and multiple winner Paula Creamer, way ahead of a very consistent performer Natalie Gulbis. Not to mention the gaggle of major winners she was ranked miles ahead of. Yeah, sure they'd be praised, but there would also be all sorts of critics asking why this person hadn't won a tournament. They'd simply talk about the bad decisions that the person had made, such as 3 putting the final green, missing a four footer for par the hole earlier, and such things that Michelle Wie did. The bottom line is that she makes bad choices coming down the to the end, and that's what has kept her from winning one of these majors. Of course, that's impossible to predict. That's like saying if Tiger played the B.C Open, he'd win by 10 every time. No, she's not the second best in the world right now. She is probably second of third best in the majors this year. (A win should count for more than a T-4 in my thinking.) I mean, nobody really noticed that Phil Mickelson finished in the top 30 at the British Open, but people will remember him slipping on the green jacket this year. Performance in the majors should count for something, of course. I'm not disagreeing about that. What I'm saying is that, if you've never won an event, you don't belong in the top of the standings at any sport. It would be just flat out hilarious if a guy like David Toms, ranked in the top 10 in the mens world golf rankings, had never won. In fact, I tried to find someone who hadn't one a professional tournament on either the PGA or European tours who was on the first page of the world rankings. I didn't find one. So I looked on the second page. Nope. Third. Nope. Fourth. Nope. I stopped looking. The bottom line is, Michelle Wie is an amazing talent. But one that hasn't won. And a talent that hasn't won doesn't deserve the second ranking, no matter where she finishes in the majors.

No, Tiger is not twice as good as Phil. I think that Tiger has just a large gap on Phil because besides Phil, no one has even got close to him in the World rankings. Although the Golf Channel seems to want to hype up Tiger Vs. Phil, it's really not there at all. Probably Tiger vs Field might be a tad more compelling.

Heh. Different strokes for different folks.

I've never had one, and I've never seen one. That's pretty sad considering I play hundreds of rounds a year.. :-p

There's not a lot we can tell you. You need to pick what you'll like, but I suggest that you visit a pro and get some lessons as a tune-up. He'll check your grip, setup, and aim, along with your swing. After that, I think you should think again about your new irons.

What's the turnover rate on your clubs?
Konrad replied to ragontona's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
I change whenever something is getting outdated or something new intrests me. -
Have a good time

I agree very much. It depends a lot on the player though. I know that for Phil Mickelgirl, it's about 7 or 8 shots because Bones reads all his putts.
-
I agree that having new equipment can help you with your shots, but 99% of the time, it's the archer not the arrow.

Pfft. I love watching the British Open and I'd rather watch it than all the boring to watch American golf we have way to much here. Where else can someone get up and down with a putter from the bunker? (Jim Furyk)

Great pre-round range hitting, terrible round
Konrad replied to iammike's topic in Instruction and Playing Tips
I always hit a large bucket of range balls before a round. I pick out these two trees on my driving range and hit to them. I don't really care where they go honestly. I'm just trying to feel the club. -
I think that he will have a very similar 30's as he did 20's. When we look back, I think that they will be very similar.
