  1. Remember the best way to grill a piece of steak is to just is to just salt and pepper it and then grill it. Well the most important part of this is to buy a nice piece of meat. None of this value pack stuff. Once you have the meat just put a nice coating of salt and pepper on it and your ready to cook. Just sear it on one side for a couple of minutes on high heat. This will give it some nice grill marks. Then turn the heat down to low or use indirect heat (I think thats the best) and flip the steak over and grill until your desired doneness. Honestly, I didn't think it would be that good but then I tried it and it was excellent. Happy Grillin'!
  2. My girlfriend and I have talked about this and we couldn't differ anymore on the subject of time outs. She believes in them and I think it's horrible and doesn't teach the child anything. Most kids these days don't show any respect for their parents because the parents are to busy trying to be their friends than their actual parents. Kids need to know when they have done something wrong. Telling them to go to their room (where they have internet, cell phones, and video games...a whole other problem) is not going to teach them a damn thing. By the way, what ever happened to kids getting grounded and actual things they like taken away from them?
  3. The only way I would play with a guy in kilt is if he is super Scottish and had an uber-thick accent. Otherwise your just playing with a guy in a kilt and that's just awkward.
  4. This is true. I believe that parents should put an age requirement for their children getting cell phones. There was a time before cell phones and what did kids do to get in touch with their parents, they either talked to them or called them. If a kid did not check in then they would be yelled at. There you go that's the problem now-a-days, kids aren't getting yelled at enough.
  5. "Terror and Hubris in the House of Frank Pollard", Lamb of God
  6. I have a problem where water seems to be my worst enemy on the course. Everytime I have to drive over water the ball always seems to be attracted to it. My short game is pretty good so I guess you could say that teeing off is where it always goes down hill for me.
  7. Golf needs someone to look to who can play pretty well and get the crowd going. With Tiger gone Boo gave more people than normal a reason to watch the Ryder Cup. Besides if you liked Happy Gilmore then you liked what Boo was doing last weekend.
  8. You know you can flip between channels right?
  9. You are exactly correct. It is just a game that hopefully the people playing it enjoy playing it. If someone behind you is faster then its good etiquette to let them play through. It's a gentleman's game so people should start acting like gentlemen.
  10. I don't think Jack would have been able to beat a major on one leg like Tiger did. Tiger has removed our abilites to complain about a sore back for our lack of performance. He has changed the way the game is played.
  11. I know that it is frustrating to have slow play however I just started playing about two months ago and like to take a little more time than average players. This is because if I dont take the time to make a few practice swings and get comfortable I start losing balls. I think that if someone is slow in the group then they should tell the rest of the group before they begin playing. This way your warned and besides it'll give you more time to get ready to play.
  12. My younger sister, who just turned 16, just started playing golf and joined her high school team. However, her coach sucks. While the girls are out playing a round of golf at practice he is not coaching them he is playing around with his buddy. My sister has told me that she has very little contact with the coach while they are out playing. I don't know about you but I think this is all wrong. The point is to coach these girls so they get better not to get a free round of golf every week. Does anyone else have this problem with their coaches?
  13. I played Sonoma County Golf Park's executive course on Sunday. The course is a par 27, I shot a 44. I consider this to be a major win for me because I saw myself play better than I did the week before. I have a bad case of the shanks and I was happy to see that I was hitting the ball a lot straighter yesterday. My short game was a lot better as well. One reason why I think I did better was because I was by myself and there was no one else on the course. There was no pressure for me to hurry up or look good in front of other people. I realize I am going to have to work on that though cause golf is no fun without other people there.
  14. I thought the whole ceremony was done elegantly. It wasn't over the top which many people thought it would be. It was completely surreal to see Babe Ruth's daughter throw out the first pitch. Jeter couldn't be any more of a class act. In all I thought it was an awesome ceremony and its sad to see the place go.
  15. Thanks all for the great advice. I will probably be taking proper lessons sometime in October. Thanks again.
