    Would You?

I check with the group in front of me and then everyone else I pass in front of me on my way back to the clubhouse. It can cause a delay with my group or partner, but I think returning the club immediately is more important than my game on any given day.
  2. I believe that's more important than most people would believe.
  3. I have to go back to the eighties, but my epiphany came after my first two lessons. I use the word epiphany because at that time I had been playing off and on for over 10 yrs before I took my first lesson. Did not take enough lessons though because I could only hit well with irons and a 5 wood.
  4. Good for you and good luck with the Pings!
  5. I restarted in Aug 2008 and so far I've yet to play with someone with a handicap of 18 or less. I think you are being too hard on yourself considering you just started and your handicap is down to 20. IMO you are doing very well. I only get stressed when I'm holding up another player. If you hit a bad shot, verbalize what you did wrong. That may help also. I've been playing off and on for over 30 years and never heard a golfer complain or make a negative remark about another's ability (except about extremely slow players). Lessons always build confidence. Sometimes I play worse after a lesson but that's OK becasue I working on changes to improve.
  6. That's what I've been taught, but my teacher says it's the distance from your belt buckle and that's about too high for me (5'9" w/ 34" arms). I measure from the base of the zipper.
  7. Is the lack of response in this thread an indication of how well they are selling? It will be interesting to see how long Callaway continues to market these clubs.
  8. Did not mean to sound critical of Michelle Wie. As a fan of hers, I was hoping she would have done better. On another note, I recently learned she graduated from the same high school as President Obama. The Punahou School... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Punahou_School And then, a few years later she's in the oval office with the President. Here's the White House photo: http://www.facebook.com/2009SolheimC...d=115982423817 IMO, that's a great upbeat story for the LPGA.
  9. She did not do too well at the Honda tournament. T for 22nd.
  10. Just got restarted about 18 mos ago and for the first few months I played my 1986 Wilson Pro Staff blades. Then, I got a new set of Callaway X18s and hated them. Within a few weeks and 2 lessons I fell in love with them.
  11. The story sure has been beaten to death but I still interested. I don't understand why this thing has grown so big in comparison to similar news stories about other celebs and political figures. Should we make a list? Tiger Woods has not been indicted of a felony. Moreover, I could not care less about what Faldo thinks or says about Tiger. I can't stop thinking about, IMO, how ill he looked.
  12. When they were available, a long time ago, I liked yellow just to distinguish my balll from the others. There is another thread about how some are marking their balls to avoid confusion. Remember white tennis balls?
  13. For quality equal to Brooks Bros and Polo, LL Bean for polo shirts and Columbia Sportswear for slacks and shorts.
  14. What more could the interviewer have done? But she was admitted to a hospital, IIRC. If she was having an emotional breakdown, maybe she was trying to avoid shooting a 99. I don't understand why she was not more conversational in the interview. It was an opportunity for her to gain support. I mean she could have said something like: the pressure was so bad I got ill...it's difficult for me to talk about it....but I got better and came back fighting...etc." Now that's a great PR story. Instead, she seemed to be trying to shut down the interview. Maybe the interview was a set up. Journalists have done it before.
  15. Slightly off topic, but I can get to Wilmington in the same amount of time it takes for CC Philly ; turnpike; Blue route; I95. Take 301 South and I can get to Kent Island, MD on the Chesapeake faster than Cape May.
  16. Considering your custom shafts, I think your total cost is reasonable. Very nice set.
  17. I'd really like to know. Please.
  18. I think it's a result of all the federal regulations on smoking ads. One time I was walking in town with a girl and she complained about the cigarette smoke from the guy in front of us. I told her to worry more about carbon monixide from all the traffic around us. She has been programmed about smoking and that's good until she extends it to people who are not causing her harm. As for cigaretts on the golf course, they are small and biodegrable as long as the filter is removed and placed in a trash can. I engoy the smell of a good cigar.
  19. I agree. At the driving range, I do the whole routine: place the ball; walk behind it; take a practice swing; etc; and, then strike the ball. I'm very slow at the driving range so I can be very fast on the course.
  20. Not sure about your "not the other way around" statement, but you are so right about practicing on the golf course. If you can hit the course on off hours ask pro shop for permission to go out alone to practice. Last summer, I asked the pro shop if I could go out alone to practice and what was the best day and time. I was only asked to not practice off the tees.
  21. Compared to the two courses I frequently play, the yardage markers at my local range are very short.
  22. I'm not qualified to comment on cameras but getting one to record your swing sounds like a great idea.
  23. $1,200 All new and mostly purchased in Aug thru Sept 2008 except the driver was given to me used.
  24. This is Northern Trust stuff is off topics but it is an interesting topic that deserves its own thread. The real issue is whether or not the cost of sponsoring a tournament is defined as ordinary or extra-ordinary advertising for a bank. I think Buick has canceled their tournament, but that is a different industry. In any event, advertising budgets along with charitable donations are the first expenses to get cut in a recession.
