  8. This might go against prevailing wisdom but I think the best way to take your game to the next level is by switching to blades. I finally got MP-32s two years ago and my iron play and overall game definitely improved. The reason I think is you stop having a crutch with the cavity backed irons. You obviously will be worse at first, but it will definitely make a better iron player. That's my two cents.
  9. my lowest nine hole round is 34... and my lowest 18 is a 73

i used to play the demo for that game...you could only build 3 holes but it was still awesome and you can play the course, just host a tourney or whatever, its really basic and stuff but it can be fun to do everyonce in awhile
  11. there is a course on a river near where i live and me and my friends go kayaking down the river to pick up balls hit into the river sometimes, and from what i've seen they seem to be beneficial to the river, unfortunately, most of the balls have become the homes of snails and other such aquatic life, so i would say it doesnt hurt the lake
  12. my longest is pin high on a big downhill 410 yard hole.... on my home course i've hit a drive down to 130 out on a 490 yard hole
  13. I've got both a cg10 and a spin milled wedge, kinda to see which i liked more for when i eventually get new ones. They are really both good clubs. The spin milled seem to spin more then the cg10, but i have much better feel and distance control with the cg10. Right now i would advice getting the cg10s because they are soo much cheaper now because of the cg12s.
  14. just look at my avatar....and i cant wait for the VT vs. LSU game at the beginning of september
  15. The biggest thing to look for in your swing to gain more distance is your hip turn. Make sure u are turning your hips and not just swaying. I used to sway for the longest time and since i was athletic i could still hit the ball far. But when i actually learned to coil my hips it greatly increased my length
  16. one thing that helped me get over the shanks earlier this year was to concentrate on hitting the ball with the toe of the club... and once u hit a few solid ones creep back towards the center.
  17. i shot a one over 36 today...had 2 birdie putts lip out, one actually hit the lining inside the cup and popped back out. thats golf though.
  18. i found a john daly ball and went it went a little bit farther than my normal balls do. but i would never use it because it was hard as a rock. i cant resist.... my farthest drive was driving it pin high on a 410 yard par 4 :)
  19. So I went canoeing with my friends today along a local golf course, called "The River Course", so you can imagine the river comes into play alot. The main purpose of this trip was to find golf balls and did we ever. Me and my other golf playing friend probably split 200 balls between us, and since its a nicer course about half of those weree 3 or 4 dollar balls. Now the problem, alot of them have some serious river scum on them, which will come off if i scratch it with my fingernail, but not with like a damp towel or like wire brush. I was wondering if any of you had any suggestions on how i can clean these balls off. Thanks.
  20. i shot a 77 (37/40) at our local country club (71.4? rating)... it was pretty sweet being as i got in free because i work at another golf course. It was rather ironic because i played in a 2 mans captains choice last monday and shot an 80, and now by myself i shot 3 strokes better.
  21. I think everyone should go buy a rule book or two.... It is a really good idea to keep one in your bag...the USGA makes them as easy as possible to find and interpret all the rules
  22. Driver: 270 3 wood: 250 7 iron goes 170 and then 10 yard gaps from there up and down but mostly i go by feel..so it all depends on conditions and such.
  23. Yeah it definitely has more to do with balance and tempo then effort put into your swing. If you look at any pro making a full swing, at the bottom of their downswing all of their muscles are flexed and you can usually look at their face and tell they are exerting themselves. Yet it looks smooth cuz they have good tempo and balance. But to comment on the purpose of the thread, i'd say i'm an 8? on strength in my swing.... i definitely am swinging hard and my practice swings are never full swings, they are more half swings while i'm visualizing my shot, and if i am hitting a draw and fade getting those motions in my head before my shot.
  24. after looking at those pictures from bampff i think i might need to make a trip there for golf and not just skiing... is there any time in the year when golf and skiing are both open?
