I heard this quote: "Golf is one of the only sports played on the 4 1/2'' course between your ears".

I was thinking about SS and it dawned on me. Last year my SS was similar to yours. For me, one of the best feeling shafts was the stock fujikaru that came with the Callaway Hyper X. I tried it in stiff, and it was beautiful, I was about to purchase it when I realized I need some other things before. Anyway, I thought I would offer this advice, and you could do with it what you please.

Mizuno introduces the sound of feel
Petden replied to GaijinGolfer's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
While mizzy's are great, for 10 million, I'd kick their ass out the door, and welcome that money truck. I would welcome a lot of other things as well, if you catch my drift. I would like to see how accurate those tests are. While I do believe that mizuno irons are great, I dont think that the difference would be that significant. Anyone interested in rpoving this statement wrong, go for it, I am seriously interested. -
Try multiple shafts out and see which is best for you. I would test both extremes. Try out the x-stiffs to see what happens when the shaft is way to stiff, and test a regular flex. Then start moving in the right direction from there.

20+ handicappers hitting 300 yards (mild rant)

While there are some exceptions to the rules, I believe that you have hit this one on the button. -

If you can pick it up for $4, please do, and post a video, this would be interesting to see. -
Mizuno introduces the sound of feel

Lol, good idea, but I wouldnt want to damage those beauties. Mizzy's are nice, definitly near the top of the market, if not the top. The AP2's are very nice too though. -
Im going to add a couple things. I started powerlifting for the last 6-7 months and I have to say, it works. My dirver SS is up about 5 mph. Another, when you workout properly you should be VERY horny. The constant production of hormones when working out properly has a huge impact on this part of life. MAKE SURE YOU HAVE REST DAYS. I cannot stress this enough. When you workout muscle tears, and it takes time to reapir. Your body only repairs so much over a given time, so over-exerting yourself just means your body will take longer to get back to maximum strength.

20+ handicappers hitting 300 yards (mild rant)

Look at charles Barkley. In one episode you were able to see his ss and distances. I think is average was like 297 or something like that. I would also give him a little more than a 20 hdcp right now. -
I hit the BB Heavenwoond 4H 210-235. My driver SS is usually between 103-108. I believe it is a 23* club. Where can you find a sonartec? I'm interested in trying one yet I have never seen one.

Golf Ball Hot List......... Ya, Right $%#+*
Petden replied to whit53's topic in Balls, Carts/Bags, Apparel, Gear, Etc.
Think about it though. Tour players demand the best, because they are the best. Therefore, if the Pro v1 isn't the best ball, why is it the undisputable winner when it comes down to people playing the ball? I like them, and even at my handi you will notice a difference. The bridgestone E5+ are great as well, but just do have the performance that the Pro v1's have. -
Mizuno introduces the sound of feel

Isn't that amazing, the difference between the two. I have never hit their GI's. How is the workability and forgiveness of the MX-200? -
Buying a new set of Mizuno irons, got a question
Petden replied to Damien45's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
It is all personal preference. But think of it like this. Buying a separate PW is like using blade irons. A PW is usually for full shots, and you usually use a 52* or higher for around the green (the 52 is nice for a tap and roll). -
Game Improvement/Forgiveness in Wedges?
Petden replied to U345387's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
Wedges are meant for control snd workability and those large wedges will lack the workability factor. -
I believe a good core exercise is called the twister. It is an oblique rotation exercise that can build strength. But remember if you the clubhead to move faster you will need to swing it faster (ie. practice swinging faster). The swing is such a quick action that the body has little time to build up clubhead speed. Therefore, Plyometrics was invented for sports. Look into it and I am sure you will find something that will help. I can explain more if needed.

Lets try and set some parameters for high. If the ball carries 255 yards and rolls out to 270, would you consider that a higher ball flight? I think my drives are somewhat high, they usually have around 10-15 yards of roll with ~250 carry.

With a 115mph SS 7.5 shouldn't be too bad, I think, though that an 8 would be better for you.
-
Isn't the R9 supposed to be a GI club? If so, why would someone who consistanly swings faster than 110mph need that much help, chances are they are pretty good.
-
According to the fitters, my SS is border line XS at around 108. I dont like most XS shafts though. I find that I do not overpower stiff shafts (unless it is an unusually soft stiff) to the point where I cant control the ball. I have also recieved comments on how smooth my swing/transition is. A major complaint fitters have is when people try to rush the transition and end up in shank-city.

That's the thing with me, somewhat. The irons that I can hit are extremely long, but my 3 and 4 irons are just too inconsistant. Sometimes they will be going 170yards, other times they will fly past 230. The hybrid I was uisng was super solid and much more consistant. I knew more or less my shots would travel out to 220-230. Also the feeling/confidence that swinging a hybrid produces is, IMO, similar to the feeling/confidence of swinging a short iron. I used to be so against hybrids, now, I am ready to advertise them to anyone.

Which are the best, performance wise?
-
I thought that too but I dont remember seeing heavenwood on the bottom, however I did some more research and I think you are right. They were so long, I was able to hit over 240yards on a clean struck shot. How are the fusion hybrids, and the diablo hybrids in comparison to the Heavenwood?
-
Square head drivers are said to be the straightest drivers available. More specificlly the Callaway FT-IQ is supposed the longest in this category. The FT-I, though is supposed to be decent for distance, and ver good for accuracy. Try the square heads before you buy them, they have a diffent feeling than traditional heads.

I managed to go out and play 2 rounds of golf last week, with my pops. I didnt have any clubs on me so I borrowed from a friend. The clubs that impressed me the most were the hybrids. They are some sort of callaway big bertha hybrids. Im not sure which model but they are less than 2 years old I believe and I just loved the feel and the playability of them. I also found them to be quite compact at adress, which I liked, giving more of an iron feeling than a wood. I have looked at golftown and golfsmith and have not been able to find them. So I was wondering of other hybrids that arent large at adress and will play nicely. (Found the TM hybrids too large)

Club selection 4hybrid vs. 4iron
Petden replied to I KyotE I's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
I find a 4 Hybrid to be much longer than a 4I. My 4I doesnt usually roll past 215, however the 4 hybrids that I have hit usually roll out to 230-245. I will also add that I seem to find that irons are more accurate, and more consistant, yet hybrids are longer and because of the ease of use, more workable.
