Taylormade ATV wedge issues....
tim31x replied to bjwestner's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
The ATV series are designed to have a dynamic bounce that basically changes depended on how you manipulate the face(open/closed etc). Personally I own a 60* and it took a while to adjust, but I do enjoy the versatility it gives me. If you are "scalping" the ground, I assume you mean you are taking a large divot? I would say open the face up a touch to offer yourself a bit more bounce that should help the club from digging into the ground. Also, you said you are fairly new to the game....maybe take a few lessons and work on flattening your swing plane? Generally if you are digging with your wedges it is due to too steep of a swing plane on the down swing. Hope this helps. -Tim -
I'd say my typical miss is a spinny cut. A lot of it is because I do have a steeper angle of attack. It will creep in every now and again but it isn't necessarily a huge miss maybe 5-8yards right of topic.

I'd say I use my own swing. Its got some elements of stack and tilt, and a lot of elements of a traditional golf swing. Its tough to classify it as either one. -

It is amazing to see that 10-20handicappers can hit the ball past a lot of pros, must be some pretty poor short games out there. Anyway, here are my yardages, all of which are carry distances. Driver: 290 3w: 265 5w: 245 21*: 235 4i: 220 5i: 205 6i: 185-190 7i: 175 8i: 165 9i: 150 PW: 140 54*: 120 62*: 80 -Tim -
Hey guys figured I would let you club junkies know about my new set coming in! For starters, I picked up a Ping Rapture Driver(10.5*) with a proforce v2 off ebay for $25(STEAL!), and a ping i15 23* hybrid at edwin watts for $65. These will replace my R11 TP and my Adams Idea Pro Gold 22*. I also just ordered a set of Titleist 712 CB in the 4-7i and MB in the 8-9, and a Vokey SM4 46* pw. My bag set up will look like this for the next coming summer/season: Driver: Ping Rapture 10.5* w/ Proforce V2 66g X 3w: Ping Rapture 14* w/ Mac Burrows 73g X 5w: Cobra S9-1 Pro 18* w/ Diamana Whiteboard 73g X 4h: Ping i15 23* w/ TFC 700 X 4-7i: Titleist 712 CB w/ DG X100 (+1", 2*UP) 8-9i: Titleist 712 MB w/ DG X100 (+1", 2*UP) PW: Vokey SM4 46* Black Nickel (+3/4, 2*UP) GW: Cleveland CG14 52* Black Pearl (STD, 2*UP) LW: Vokey SM 58* Black Nickel (STD, 2*UP) Putter: Ping D66, 35" For those of you that may question why I went with a 4H and a 4i it is because the 4h is as long as my 3i would be length wise with a slightly weaker loft than my set 3i, so in effect it will fly about 15yd further than my 4i but offer me a lot more versatility than the 3i would and it still keeps my iron distances in 10-15yd increments. I'm pumped can't wait for the irons to come in!

thanks for the replies guys, believe it or not I have never even considered my swing being compared to angel cabrera. thanks for giving me the model and the suggestions. by "deeper" hip I assume you mean more hip rotation on the way back?

This is me working on hitting a power fade which usually fades about 8-10 yards with the driver for me. I'd say my typical miss with this is just the shot that doesn't fade back, not quite a pull but just the straight shot. I recently worked back to the fade as my stock shot with the driver because I was having a lot of blocks or quick hooks when playing for the draw due to getting stuck.

Hey guys, Figured I would show you what I've been working on this winter. Bringing back the power fade off the tee so I can hopefully find some more fairways, its been working out so far. Just to preface my swing speed is typically 123 average with the driver and about 105 with my 6i, I play to a 1 handicap, and this video was shot at Rhode Island College where I'm a member of the golf team. -Tim

Anyone carry a 4 wood in the bag?
tim31x replied to Birdman2's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
it may depend on your swing speed, players with lower swing speeds very often times have trouble getting the ball airborne with lower lofted clubs. high swing speeds can impart more spin on the ball, thus making it easier to get the ball up in the air and stay in the air for longer a lot easier. -tim -
As a long putter user, I am against the ban. For several year I was a very good putter, playing myself down to a +1. After a few rough rounds the thoughts started to creep in my head, and eventually into my hands. I yipped for close to two year and eventually decided to leave the game. The only thing that has brought me back and kept me in golf is the long putter. Does it make me a better putter than I was on my game with the conventional putter? No, but it keeps me in the game and allows me to learn to love golf again.

I had won a few dozen Titleist DT solo's for winning a long drive a scramble a while back. The words on the box and each individual sleeve stated something to the effect of "Titleist GO_ F's finest two piece GO_F ball". I thought it was kind of funny that Titleist would tell me to "GO F" lol, anyway I called their consumer hotline and they ended up sending me a free dozen pro v1's for informing them of the mistake. Not a bad deal!

completely disagree, while they may protect your clubs headcovers for IRONS are probably the tackiest thing any golfer can do.

As a certified clubfitter/builder I would go with the xflex, especially if its a stock shaft. They tend to be slightly weaker than aftermarket shafts. Also you may be in need of a project x 6.5 in your irons, however your high ball flight could be attributed to the high initial launch characteristics of the project x shaft. try a dynamic gold in an s300 or x100 flex it should do the trick. -tim

actually the higher the loft, the more the ball will ride up the face. it will be a bit more slick and to be honest is really only good out of trouble situations. hence why phil bent a 60* eye 2 to 64* to get more bite(before they outlawed the eye 2's of course). grab a 60* or a 58* and practice, a lot more shots will open up to you and you will save some room for an extra long iron, fwy wood, or hybrid at the top of the bag.

Nike VR Str8 Fit Tour Driver shaft broke at
tim31x replied to boilermaker711's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
even without the receipt, if the retailer wont replace it, they will atleast send it back to nike for you. it happened to me before i bought a sasquatch 3w a few years back and it snapped on my downswing. i brought it back to the store and they shipped it back to nike for me. -
This video is an absolute joke. he has terrible camera angles that can really help manipulate his "findings". He also talks about starting the swing with his knees, something tiger simply cannot due anymore as proven by why he took a year off from playing to have surgery. To say that his golfer averages 350 off the tee and piped on 375 down the middle of a tight fairway....this guy is full of it. How come we don't see "his golfer" on tv, he would be dominating the driving categories, The cheesy sound and visual effects take away all credibility as well. This guy is a clown.
