  2. you should try using a combination of cold (to reduce inflammation) and heat (to relax muscles and speed up blood flow). I suffer from Tennis Elbow, and my ring and pinky fingers go numb on me all the time. I first use cold therapy to get rid of any inflammation that could be pressing on the nerve, and the warmth in the form of a heating pad, blood flow stimulation therapy, or hot bath to help relieve any excess stress that could be in the muscles or ligaments. I hope this can help before you see your neurologist!
  3. I like those stretches! I completely forgot about those until you posted them. Thanks for the reminder!!!!
  4. Good luck with the recovery - it's a good thing you didn't hurt yourself any worse. I used to work at a resort where they had biking, and looking at the people that came off the runs, it's made me wary of participating in that sport. With that being said, shoulder-back-knee problems with golfers is very common (whether or not a bike helped facilitate the injury). It's really important to keep all of your muscles strong, all of the time... because that is what helps to prevent injury and the dastardly re-injury. I find it funny, especially with my injuries - even the slightest bit of inflammation and the main is amplified, I have found much relief with cold therapy as opposed to pain relievers and other modalities. Grab a nice rigid cold pack and apply it to your shoulder, and I think you'll be very surprised at where you stand in terms of mobility with the shoulder injury.
  5. I frequently suffer from Sciatica and/or Piriformous Syndrome, which is pain in the back that extends down to my knees. I find that when I start off my season I am commonly plagued with a sore back. I know that through the winter I try to keep up with the exercise, because golfing uses a whole different set of muscles than normal day to day tasks, I've started to work out and use the same rotation that I would with a golf swing, just to keep those muscles limber. I have found that having a hot shower to relax the muscles helps as well, or a nice massage -- if you can find a deep tissue massage it's amazing! Look up an ice pack on amazon that would help in case of any inflammation, I have found inflammation itself will cause pain because of all the nerves in the back. Good luck!!
  6. I have read the first book about stretching - It has helped me immensely! I highly recommend it to anyone who hasn't read it yet. Stretching is really important to not pull muscles and improve flexibility. I also do yoga - it not only helps with flexibility, but with my temper too :)
  7. Don't do cortisone!! It's so bad for you! It's masking the pain so you could reinjure yourself and not even know it. I have tried a couple products for knee pain (torn acl, lcl, mcl and meniscus) - it was a bad skiing accident, and this product has helped me tremendously! Even if you don't buy it, give the page a read, it has a lot of useful information on healing times etc. on there. If links aren't allowed I'm sorry.... http://www.kingbrand.com/Knee-Home.php?REF=75PV129
  8. I have a favorite sport for each season - but start getting antsy when the seasons come to an end. We had an exceptionally cold winter this year which made skiing absolutely amazing, but as the ski hills start to close down, I am getting ready for summer and the golfing season. I am new to the whole forum thing - it was introduced to me at my new job, I am an Internet Marketer, so I get to play on forums during the day while I work. I came across this one and I am so excited to spend my days on here. I work for a company called King Brand - so you might see a couple ads appear at the top and sides of the pages at times, this is me. I have a seriously large Google Ad Words campaign going, and it's starting to pick up steam. I look forward to talking to everyone throughout the golfing season - I am going to the driving range tomorrow to get warmed up for the season! I can't wait. As for my love of golfing I will be on here all the time - envious of players who get to play (as I work a lot and only get out on weekends if I'm lucky), but I can also help people if they've injured themselves while golfing - part of my job is being on the phones and talking to people on the importance of Blood Flow Stimulation and Cold Compression Therapy and when to use each to heal yourself as quickly as possible to get back into the game. I look forward to meeting (virtually) all of you - and best of luck to everyone this season! Regards, Mouseymouse
