snowman - I received the exact same 3 recommendations. Which were in that order as well if that means anything. I am not sure of any of my numbers though except for SS - and that was 2 swings at 86 and 1 at 87. I thought I would be between a S and X but I wasn't. If I am not mistaking I don't believe the first recommendation (DG S300) is the best, the device just gives 3 options that would work well. I would say you probably need to hit all 3 on the range or course to see what they do. I also believe the DG S300 will launch the lowest, PX5.5 low to mid, and KBS w/ mid launch. Seeing how you received the same suggestions I am definitely going to follow this post as I am shopping irons as well.

Haven't played in a month. I was expecting a 100 instead I played fairly good. 86. 45 on the front and 41 on the back. Played the tips as well, and I only hit one good drive all day, so I am happy.

Played the second most difficult course I have ever played. Played the tips and shot a dissappointing 86. I had 41 on the front and finished with 3 bogeys and a triple. It could have been in the 70's. still enjoyed it.

Thanks everyone for some clarification.

I understand water hazard red stakes. I thought I understood red stakes in general but maybe not. My father tells me that you must find your ball in the woods if it is red stakes in order to take the lateral drop. I thought it was the same as water red stakes and you simply take the drop at where it entered - regardless if you find it (like water). Which is right? Also if you find your ball in red or yellow - can you play it or must you take the penalty?

71 rating & 131 slope & 6700 yards - I shot me an 86. I am pleased seeing how the winds were crazy. Toughest winds I have ever played. I had one shot from 135 and I used my 170 club and finished pin high. I had another shot on a 245 yard par 3 - hit driver thats right driver on a par 3 ended up 10 yards sort. Crazy - but fun.

If its just you or maybe you and one other - I would go with a 3 series bmw or c class mercedez. Resonable gas mileage, luxury, and handling. If its you and more than one - pick up a tahoe or suburban. Newer ones are very nice, and if its new enough GM has that deal on there suv's where the cylinders shut down on highway for better mileage.

Shot a 92 - A little tougher course than I have been playing. Could have been respectable though - Hole 1 & 18 I had a 9 - killed my score.

New driver, thinking of switching shafts ...
UP&DOWN replied to vapordub's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
My opinion stick with what feels good. Shafts are nuts. I just went from a club that was 10.5 degree to one that is 9 degrees and I am hitting it a lot higher now because of the shaft specs. All in the shafts. The one guy mentioned weight, thats something to consider as well. Depending on the graff blue's weight it was probably heavier which typically gives you more control. good luck -
44 on front and 44 on the back. Consistently bad. Shot a 79 on this course a few weeks ago. Something is up with me and my driver - I don't think my ball ever got more than 10' off the ground.

I have been wondering about this for some time. I have been playing some GI irons for a few years now and at first there were a few shots here and there that probably benefited from the technology but this year and last fall I have noticed no benefit to my game. I am now getting to the driving range once a week and at least one round in and my handicap seems to be dropping evey other week. I even shot into the 70's twice in the past month. It seems nearly impossible for me to hit a controlled draw or fade at the range with my current set. The blades and players irons have always looked better to my eye at setup. I think this winter I may shop for a players iron.

What a BUMMER.

79 Friday night. Tied my best round. 7 on an easy par 5 and 3 putted a couple holes. -10 on Saturday in a golf scramble. 2nd place. 97 on Sunday night. New driver - alot of OB and penalty strokes. putted and chipped well.

I have been looking at shafts and am a little confused, why I can buy a 55gram X-stiff shaft or kind of the opposite a regular flex 75 gram shaft. The reason I'm asking is I just broke a stiff flex that was 55 grams - and now I need to replace it. What's the point of one over the other or better yet who (kind of player) would use one over the other? Weight for control or flex? Torque rating? Any suggestions are appreciated.

What are "ideal" launch conditions for a driver?
UP&DOWN replied to kyldo's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
12 - 13 degrees. 2500 rpm -
Which driver out of these three
UP&DOWN replied to amazinggolfer0732's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
I can only speak on behalf of the R7. I had the superquad for almost a year and never did get to where I liked it. I have tried the other 2 in the stores on the monitor so it wouldn't be fair to give an assessment of those 2. My issue with the R7 was it seemed to create too much spin. Left or right. The ball never held a straight line it was one way or the other. I see your handicap is a bit lower than mine so it may be something you like if your wanting to work the ball off the tee. I had many long hits, as long as any other clubs I tried but again I couldn't control it even with making weight adjustments. I found a weight setup that I liked the best but it still got to the point where I was afraid to hit off the tee on tight holes. Only my opinion, to each is his own. -
I have had the exact same dealeo with my wedge play, but for me its when I am on the chipping area and have hit a dozen or so. My balls just start squirting off to the right (im RH) and low. It seemed like no matter what I did, just made them worst. However, I found a tip somewhere - forgot source - but it seems to work when I hit these. Best part it was simple for me, I was crowding the ball and just needed to scoot away a bit in my setup. Helped me, hopefully it helps you.
-
If that happened in our group, you would be hitting 4 lying 3. 1 out, 2 back to the tee, 3 up to or around the area the last ball went out.
-
Dreaded 97. My putter was completely defective. On the front I had 7 out of 9 holes where I was putting for birds and took ended taking 6 bogies & 1 par. Irons and driver was good though.

Speed first. Swing mechanics second. Your better off hitting a bad 280 yarder than a bad 220 yarder.

Anyone else revamping the bag for the off season?
UP&DOWN replied to Laxplayer201092's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
I don't know about the whole set, but for sure a few in the bag. I am going to try to ditch the 4 iron and pick up a 4 hybrid - maybe that new ping rapture 09 version with the Mitsubishi Javelin shaft. Then the other update for me is going to be my wedges. Going to dump the 56 degree for a 54 and a 58 to improve my gaps a bit. (Not sure on brand yet though). I like the Vokey spin milled but the zip grooves on the Clevelands look the part too. I am selling my Hibore XLS, but I dont think I will buy another driver, probably just use the Cobra driver and 3 wood off the box. Then lastly, the bag itself I may go to another color of the OGIO Grom or theres a Nike bag that I I have my eye on as well. -
I grip the club to what feels natural to me which is probably in the middle of pressure somewhere. However, I did experiment over the summer some with trying to go with a lighter amount of pressure and had no luck. For me it was nearly impossible for me to have a light amount of grip pressure and maintain that through impact. It was causing my balls to sail off to the right and just a lot of really bad mishits. It was almost like I had to tighten up right at impact - too much stuff going on.
-
My Cobra 440SZ has the highest pitch ping, that leaves my ear ringing for 275 yards of walking, until I approach my ball in the middle of the fairway and then it suddenly feels better.

Do you like Vanilla or Chocolate? I just went through a bad shaft experience. I researched shafts a little and based on what I thought I needed didn't help me at all and maybe even made my driver less effective. Hit them on the range and go with the one that feels and performs for your swing.
