  1. Without getting into crazy amount of stats this is how I break it down. Jack is the better overall golfer. He has more majors, in my opinion played against tougher competition and did it for a longer time. However what Tiger did during "tigerslam" was the greatest feat this sport has ever seen. He dominated every tournament he was in. During tigerslam he was the best golfer ever. But that was only for that time frame. So in that time frame Tiger would have beat any golfer ever period. But Jack did it for a much longer time. And yes I think Tiger is done. He had a great run and he may well win another major(I dont see it happening) but that domination is over. So just be happy that we were able to witness history.
  2. haha thanks for all the tips guys. It all helped and I went out and shot a 41 front and then a great 36 back for a nice 77. Swing felt amazing and actually hit a couple crisp 3 iron shots which is usually a big struggle. thanks again for all the help and I beat my buddy pretty handily which was just a nice cap off
  3. I will stick with Mizuno irons until the day I stop playing golf. Top notch irons and I just love the feel dont think I will ever not play mizunos. But the rest of the bag I just go for whatever is working. I will switch out drivers a decent amount of time just to try and find one I have the most confidence in.
  4. Hey guys Got a buddy driving down tonight, we are going to go out tonight and then hit the links tomorrow. Will be the first time I have golf this season in the northeast. I have been to the range twice, the first time was awful and the second time I felt really good. Anyone ever get a little nervous or anxious on the first round? I think it is because I havent played this buddy in a while and I have become a pretty decent golfer and just kind of want to show him I am solid. Any tips for just kind of relaxing and let the swing take over?
  5. I with the ps3 owners on this one, couldnt find it. If it is cross platform that would be awesome, been playing TW for a long time and can easily go 12+ under and if I get into playing a lot can get those nice 18 under rounds. Now the trick is to do that on the actual course, hell Ill take even at this point
  6. Hey guys Season is starting up for us in the northeast. Been to the range a couple of times have yet to be able to get to a course. But I always have played a fade, use to fight it but it is my natural shop shape so might as well play it. Well recently I have been drawing my irons, not a ton maybe 5 yards at most. I got fitted for mp 53s with the dynamic black and gold shafts. Was just wondering if anyone has bought new irons and as a result change what they perceive is their natural shot? Or do you think I just change my swing without really knowing it? Last but not least does anyone else play one shot with their driver and another with their irons?
  7. Got fitted a couple months back, always heard amazing things about mizunos but my buddy had ap2s and I hit them very well, so kinda had my eyes on them. They had the 53s and 59s so I was like what the heck got to at least hit these to see what the hype is about. Long story short went with the 53s, cant see myself ever playing non mizunos. easily the best irons I have ever hit, the feeling is remarkable(never thought I would be able to feel a difference), For whatever reason these irons just give me a crazy amount of confidence standing over the ball. That is probably a preference thing but def go out and hit them and I think you will see.
  8. I went through the process as well. I was about to get the 59s but opted for the 53s just for the little extra forgiveness on my off days. I am more of a short game player so figured the extra forgiveness would help got the dynamic black gold shaft in them. I can say i dont think I will ever not play mizzys. The fitting process was nice and easy and the feel of the clubs are fantastic. The guy wanted me to get the 59s but I was a little afraid of some of the reviews on how it was more of a players club, but either way I dont think you can go wrong with any mizunos esp after a fitting, it helps so much
  9. I watched a buddy on the 17th hole of my home course, take the safe route and hit 3 wood off the tee. Well lets say that didnt work out so well and he goes to throw the club but releases it (to late?) and it ends up getting stuck on a pretty high pine tree. He then realizes that he needs the 3 wood haha and begins to climb the tree. 10 minutes later he gets down and is just covered in sap. Literally one of the funniest things I have ever witnessed,
  10. I have been working within a Golf Academy for the last couple of months, no not as an instructor but helping all the main pros here and I can say posture, stance and alignment are some of the few basics that all the instructors do in the first couple of lessons with all students. It is true that all of these vary with each golfer but in reality they are only different based on the students differences whether it be weight, height or flexibility.
  11. Hey guys So the battle continues and the new fault in the swing is losing posture. Have been working on making the swing flatter, was coming over the top before. Losing posture is creeping into my swing and I dont know any drills to stop it haha. I dont think it has been a problem before but it sure is now. Any tips/drills to help fight this problem. thanks

    Go get fitted

Hey guys I got fitted the other day with a mizuno guy. I was playing this older game improvement irons that my buddy gave to me when I started playing about 3 4 years ago. I was like well im average height so I dont need to get fitted. Ummmmm I was wrong haha. got fitted to the mp 53s, almost went with the 59s but I dont play a ton so wanted the little extra forgiveness. Got the dynamic gold x100, 2.5d upright and 2d strong. O man is all I can say. These things feel great and have so much confidence looking down at this opposed to those big irons I was hitting. Lowered my ball flight a good amount(which is mostly me coming up and out of the swing but thats a different story). Just wanted to post this to say if you were like me and thought getting fit wasnt really important and wont do a lot for you. Just go get fit, There is no real pressure to by from the guy who fits you either, even though I ended up getting them through him. It makes a huge difference.
  13. Hey guys I have been losing a lot of balls out to the right. My contact is good but the ball just goes about 5-10 yards right of the target. Then at the range I will try to make adjustments i do it to much and hit some pull hooks, pretty frustrating. Any good tips for coming through the ball without over doing it? thanks
  14. If you figure it out call Tiger. Everyone struggles with this, its just finding the swing that gives you the best odds of eliminating the real bad shots
  15. 2. If you hit your drive 180, do not wait for the green to clear except on par 3's, waiting makes you look like an idiot. For the most part I am a pretty patience person, at least with other people get pretty frustrated with myself but thats a different story. But this drives me insane. Its a par 5 you hit your drive 200 yards your not going to hit 3 wood 300 yards hit the damn ball. I cant even tell you how angry this gets me and it really should not but if i see this i have to go like walk around or have a full conversation bc it is absolutely brutal.
  16. It is definitely a different game from different tees. Next time go play from the lady tees and you will be shocked. The extra yardage can make a couple of holes much harder, a par 4 that goes from 450 to 500 is going to make a big difference but mostly its a mental thing. If you think "o man i am playing from the tips this is going to be awful" then it most likely will. Go in with some confidence and dont try it make the par 4s that are close to 500 yards in 2 if you know you cant. Lay up and hit a good wedge into the green and try and one putt for your par. If your going to try and blast a 3 wood there is going to be a lot more room for error
  17. hey First thing if golf isnt fun, or your not trying to get better than there is no point in playing. Most teaching professionals will say this or that to make sure you come back to them as that is their main source of income. In all reality it is really hard to get "good" at golf unless you play a lot. I use to think if I played 2-3 times a week I played a lot and in all reality you have to play 5 times at least a week to get good at this game. If your an 11 handicap I would be happy as you are better than most. Go to the range try some different swings and find the right swing for you.
  18. I use to be the same with with my good friends dad. I always thought he was really good prob around a 10 or so handicap but then I started playing golf seriously and became a better golfer than he was. But for whatever reason whenever I played with him I would go out and blow up into a 95 or something like that. Then when i would tell him I shot a 75 in a tournament he would be like ya ok. So that just added more pressure when I would play with him. But finally I was just like its just another round, I know my game and I am just going to play it and not let the bad shots effect the whole round. Just find your happy place during the round or get a catchy song stuck in your head that usually helps me get through the bad ones.
  19. ya i hear both of you. Its just bananas scoring pretty decent and then looking at your stats and just being like wow if only. But im guessing after every round there are what ifs. this game can be so frustrating but maybe thats why its so fun at the same time
  20. Hey guys Just finished a round where I hit 4 total fairways and 6 greens in regulation with 33 putts and shot 80. Actually had a 20 footer for 79 but didnt make that. Now pretty happy with an 80 with those stats but this is slowly becoming the norm for me. Every round is a complete and total battle. I have to get up and down from all over the place. Luckily I can do it for the most part, but I envy the guys that just hit the ball down the middle and hit it on the green and 2 putt. That seems like it would be much easier. The only satisfaction i get is when I am playing with random people and they say how the hell did you par after that drive, my normal playing partners are just getting use it to. Not really sure the point of this thread guess mostly a rant. thanks for reading and pray for me that I learn how to control my clubs
  21. Hey guys In the constant battle that is my golf game, the newest problem has been I am unable to complete the swing. I have been turn much better than I have and in turn hitting the ball more pure and further. But it is not that consistent which is quite annoying. I am having a hard time coming through the ball which results in high cuts out to the right. Any tips on how to come through the ball more. Seems like a simple problem but whatever I do doesnt seem to make it consistent. And when I come through it feels like I am coming way over the top. Thanks for any and all help
  22. I use to work at a country club and watched the assistant pro on the range call out high fade, low draw half way through his swing with a 3 wood. Each shot was so pure and going to the end of the range which was about 275. It was unbelievable and he told me he could compete on the hooters tour but there were so many better guys than him. I was absolutely shocked.
  23. TM adds distance by making the club longer, Being not so tall can make you slice with a longer club. Also it can be a different weighted shaft. Lot of things change in drivers. Head to the range and try choking down a little bit and see if that helps, if it does you can go and cut it down an inch or two and your good to go.
  24. Hey guys, Having a little trouble drawing the ball with the driver. My normal swing produces a power cut for the most part and a slice with lack of focus. When I set up for a draw it normally just stays dead straight. Not a terrible thing but I am normally pretty aggressive and like to try to cut corners(much better wedge player than mid-long iron player) I am just wondering if anyone has any tips or suggestions that could help me out and try to actually hit a draw. thanks for the help
  25. I usually walk so I dont smoke cigars while walking. But my schools athletic department put on a golf tourny and on the 18th my group lit up some cigars as we were 12 under for the scramble and thought we pretty much had it in the bag. Wasnt to many good golfers there, turns out a 2 some beat us they took two shots each which is pretty cheap but they were platinum sponsors so I guess they can do whatever they want.
