The dual cavity on MP52s is more pronounced than MP57 cavity in longer irons. MP52s have same offset as MP60s. MP57 have a single cavity/more offset. For me, the MP52 have a higher trajectory with DGS300s than the MP57s with DGS300s. I have a mixed set with MP52/MP60s. I like having same offset. Which one is more forgiving between the two? Depends on how you like your offset and trajectory. I don't think there's that much difference; just different reasons why these two sets are more forgiving than some other clubs.

I'd get fitted, but if you don't have time, I'd go with higher launch...

Is the sand where you play fluffy or thin? If the latter, then you could probably take your 56/14 to 55/13 or 54/12. FWIW, I have a 55/11 SW (54/10 bent to 55/11), but I play where the sand is very thin. If the sand is fluffy, then more bounce is helpful out of the sand, but playing a SW with that much bounce from the fairway is tough if the course is dry/tight. As far as the 58 goes, you may find it helpful around the green and for lies that are too tight for a 55/13.

I came from a set of Ping Eye2s, and play 4 or 5-PW in the MP60s, and love the look and feedback. I find them more forgiving than MP32s, mainly due to the sole. I also like the fact that I can have better trajectory control than with my Pings. They're pretty cheap on eBay, so you can buy them, pay to have the lie/lofts adjusted, and depending on the tweaks, you'll have a set of custom clubs for about $250-350. Also, if you need more forgiving long irons, then check out the MX25s and consider a mixed bag. I've hit a buddy's MX25s, and I think they're more forgiving than my Pings...

I have an Ogio and like it a lot; good dividers, sturdy, good carry straps. Has held up better than my Sun Mountain.

Cool; sounds like you've done a fair bit of thinking about this. I have a high ball flight too, but carry the hybrid instead of the 4 iron to get out of trouble. Just thinking that as a mid-handicapper, I end up trying to minimize damage from bad shots. Also, for some, one consideration might be to account for resale value of whatever you buy in case you decide to shift to something else later. Many don't care - they just want to play whatever works best. Yeah, and you can always buy more clubs. Good luck!

Looks like a very nice set. Why not go with hybrid(s) instead of 3 and/or 4 irons? Also, if you're looking at MP-6*s, have you tried MP-60s? FWIW, I have 20/23 degree Mizuno CLK hybrids to go with 5-PW MP-60s (DGS300), and love the set-up.

Yeah, I played 'em for 3 rounds up at Bandon Dunes two weeks ago and loved 'em. Good distance/trajectory off irons and not too spinny off driver (put it this way; I hit a lot of 9 irons there). Consistent feel in short game. Bandon/Pacific's greens are pretty tough to do the one-hop check thing, but in California they hop/stop. Might try comparing them to the Taylor Made TPs...

I've got a 10.5 UST V2 75g regular with a 105 mph SS, and find it reasonably forgiving and long with good workability. Recently played 3 rounds at Bandon Dunes (Bandon, Pacific, and Bandon Trails), and hit about 60% fairways using the 907D2. Playing as a 13, I won a few bets...

I'd agree that it depends if you're a flat swinger or a steep swinger, as well as which club slot you're looking to fill and conditions on the course/wind. If you have a 3 wood that you can hit off the deck, then maybe you'd probably play a 5 wood OK. If not, and you hit, say, your 5 iron pretty well, then maybe a 19-22 degree hybrid would work for you (depends on your distance gaps, courses you play). For instance, I have a 23 degree hybrid to replace my 4 iron, but if I'm playing where there's a lot of tree trouble, I can hit my 4 iron well, so I may leave it in the bag and have a club I can hit below branches. Also, I play my 5 wood pretty well, but depending on course conditions/wind, I go back and forth between my 5 wood and a 20 degree hybrid. If it's windy, then I go hybrid and hit it pretty low using a controlled swing; if not, then I usually go 5 wood and hit it higher/longer. YMMV...

I played the HP2 Tour for about 6-7 rounds about 9 years ago, and it's a relatively soft feeling, but spinny ball. Too spinny for me, but then I'm a high ball hitter and I prefer lower trajectory balls. In its day, it was probably the same level ball as the NXT line.

Where are you around the Bay?

I have a driver swing speed of about 108 and a fast tempo, and like the V2 75g stiff shaft in my 907D2 driver, and can't see the YS6 (stiff) working for me. YMMV... I do have the YS6 in my fairway woods, and it's OK there. Based on my experience with my fairway woods, the YS6 has a lower kick point/feels softer in the tip, and in my driver I'd be hitting the ball too high/spinning too much.
