  1. Count me in. I'm a little farther north in Red Bluff right off I-5.
  2. If you want to post a video of your technique I would be glad to look at it. Gook luck!
  3. I agree with a the previous two posts, really try and concentrate on learning the lift before really concentrating on weight. In-turn since you are not going to be using much weight you can perform the lifts more often than you think even daily. Learning this lift is more complex than people think. Look for some videos that teach the lift in pieces and explain the proper body mechanics. On the other hand it would be beneficial to find someone at your gym who knows these lifts. But all in all this is a great lift for overall dynamic strength. To answer your question about weight I feel the clean becomes most effective, for building dynamic strength, when your clean is close to 1/2 of your deadlift.
  4. I think you would really enjoy the experience and knowledge that comes from an evaluation with a TPI professional. The test clusters they use are tried and true and can identify potential swing flaws. After your evaluation you can in-turn perform prescribed exercises and mobility movements to further enhance your strength\flexibility\golf performance. Not to bad mouth anyone specifically, but I feel there is a lot of poor information being filtered across the fitness section, so I would urge anyone to see a qualified professional for their golf fitness advise.
  5. When I was having trouble with a consistent takeaway I would do this little drill. Address the ball as normal and then place a ball behind your clubface. As you begin your swing you can push the second ball back behind you on which ever plane you like. By doing this you can see if you are taking the club back on the right plane or lifting too early etc...Then you can proceed to downswing as normal.
  6. Its been a long day...Rogue IPA
  7. Escena in Palm Springs is great. It's a newer Nicklaus course with an old school Palm Springs feel.
  8. I usually play the ball two-three ball widths forward from center for a fade.
  9. Trim from the butt end. If you trim from the tip it will change the shafts flex(stiffer). Both might change your swing weight if that matters to you.
  10. The 3wood set-up might be more fitting for your swing than your driver is. If this is the case you could possibly carry the ball farther with your 3wood. I'm guessing that your driver fit is probably off.
  11. I have an old SW that I use to practice this shot off of my concrete patio. Hit ball after ball and your ball stringing off of tight lies will improve. It's nice to have other options like putting, or hitting a bump and run with an eight iron, but if you really want to improve learn to hit all these shots.
  12. "Stop thinking about mechanics during the round, just swing the club!" Dad This quote was often said during my baseball career also. In my mind practice is the place to worry about mechanics. Once your round starts you have to dance with the swing you brought to the party.
  13. I'm a little farther north, in Red Bluff. Haggin Oaks(Alister MacKenzie) is a great course in sac that I just played. If you ever want to take a short day trip up I-5 Sevillano Links, my home course, is an amazing place to play.
  14. Welcome! Where in nor cal?
  15. I also like the 53, 58 set-up. My 52 is bent to 53.
