  1. Broke 40 for the first time for 9 in a regular round, shot a 39 on the front with a 4 putt caused by a penalty stroke because the ball moved after I soled my putter, two birds made up for it a bit. Came back in a horrid 49 as my swing crumbled under the self imposed pressure of what I had shot on the front. Still -7 net isn't bad, though my handicap will drop 2 strokes next month...
  2. where do you play all those clubs in your stance?
  3. I have the CG4 tours and I love them, great feedback but also forgiving. I've had them for over a year now, and the only thing I've noticed is that my 9i has quite a bit of wear on it, perhaps from the softer alloy knocking against my other wedges. Havn't noticed it on any of the other clubs though. I switched from TA5s and took the time to get fitted at the local golf galaxy, with my tradein they were around 400.
  4. I'd guess there is nothing worse than trying to learn how to fix your swing on a web forum, I get screwed up watching the golf channel and trying to "fix" something because what you think you feel you are doing isn't what you are actually doing most of the time. Just my .02. If I would give some advice for the OP i'd say to just concentrate on keeping your head relativly still, though there are tons of things that would lend to having your head move too much; bad posture/chin down, over backswing, lateral slide, poor transition and tempo, not pickign a spot on the ground or the ball and holding focus, pulling up before impact, poor weight transfer. Hitting the ball Fat/Thin all the time could be caused by a million things, and most likely multiple poor fundimentals and bad habbits, so that's why I recommend a lesson. I recently dropped 7 strokes off my handicap in 3 months due to good instruction.
  5. Take a lesson, save yourself hours of time on the range trying to fix it your self.
  6. 95, 11 GIR, 1 birdy, 39 putts Started out the day with a 4 putt double. Someone started screaming at the guy who I was playing with about cart path only on the 15th hole and I proceeded to go triple, triple, double.
  7. I tend to hit a pull hook with my hybrid, 3i goes straight 95% even on mishits. Trying to hit an elivated green from 200+ and stop the ball I tend to reach for th e hybrid, 3i is best off the tee.
  8. It would be interesting to see the difference in data if it was people playing on their regular course. I know that I have much more confidence. When I play my home course just knowing what bounce/breaks to expect changes your play and shot selection.
  9. do you walk or ride?
  10. My old golden bear sand wedge's groves are on their last legs, anyone have any recomendations for a good sand wedge? I'm thinking about just getting a tour edge, I use one as a gap wedge and it has performed well, I had a clevelend black perl but I left it on a green and it was never turned in. I liked it, and i have a cleveland 60d in my bag which is also quite nice.
  11. For what it's worth I played a red white and blue tourny last weekend with a prov1x i bought off a little girl selling balls on one of the tee boxes the day before for .50. I shot an 80 the first day, and had a 39 on the front the next, used the same ball for both days. My course handicap was a 22. Perhaps I was just having a great weekend but that ball performed quite well, our greens are not that firm though. I typicaly play a nxt tour and lose about 1 per round.
  12. If you hit your 4i good then go for it. Hybrids arn't for everyone, my 3i is much more consistant and long off the tee than my "3i" hibore. It is however better off bad lies. Most of my best rounds have been keeping the driver in the bag and using my 3i from the tee. 225 in the fairway is way better then 270 OB.
  13. 42/52 can't seem to break 90...
  14. he shot an 84 in a tourney? Most hight handicaps don't even shoot close to their handicap in a tourney, if they actualy play by the rules of golf. A handicap is supposed to represent a players true potential, that's why you only should shoot to your handicap once every 4 or 5 rounds. Since everyone who has posted seems to think you should be able to shoot -9 in a tourney, at what point would you think someone is a sandbagger? -10, -11? Does anyone else have a confirmed sandbagger story?
  15. 19 course handicap, 71.3 course rating, 130 slope, diff for an 82 is 9.3 also this isn't the first time.
  16. I posted this in the other thread but I have noticed tee time intervals have a big impact on pace, and with an 8 minute interval you can get a jamb real quick. I'd imagine it behaves like a wave, just like car traffic. I wonder how much revenue is gained from 8 minutes vs 10.
  17. I'd say order a demo set from someone online like golfclubdemo.com or get a demo set from your pro shop if they have them and play a few rounds. I feel like there wasn't anywhere near as much feel to the TA5's. If i'm just a smidge off I know what happened instantly. I think you can work the ball much much better. I went to these because I wanted something less forgiving to improve my general ball striking and I think they delivered. They feel like butter when you hit'em right.
  18. Two biggest causes of backups are 1. 8 minute tee time intervals. 2. No rangers/rangers who don't care
  19. i got an ogio vaporlite last year for $66 delivered. Get the prior years model and save a ton.
  20. Though i'm a high handicaper I strike the ball solid, and the short game is where most of my strokes are(>32 puts per round). I went from TA5's to CG4 tours last year and I have to say after a ton of rounds with the CG4's I love them. Great feedback, workability. I'd imagine if they are getting phased out you could get a good deal on a set of them. I have been thinking about ordering the 2i.

    sandbaggers

A guy shot a net 63 today, he has a 19 handicap. His two low scores in the past 2 months are 91, 89. He also only posted 4 rounds last month, but he is always playing so he must not be posting everything. He posted 9 in march. I read somewhere the chances of him doing that are > 37000:1. What's the best way to address this sort of thing?
  22. 43 front 57 back no driver, total melt down on the back... What a nasty game.
  23. I may have spoke to soon, i broke 2 in my round today.
  24. Did you ever find this on tape? I'd love love love a copy.
  25. I bought a pack, they may last me 10 years. I managed to break one, no idea how that happened, i think the ground was very very firm.
