Looking for some help with my new clubs purchase!
jcrob902 replied to jacer333's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
I agree with the demo rout as far as TM woods do it they make a fairway wood and hybrid for everyone I'm a mizuno guy but love TM fairways and hybrids, as far as irons if you like the look of ping GI irons go with them there great! personally I don't like the look so I went with the mizuno GI irons the look and feel were unmatched except by the titleist AP2's so really it depends on your taste all of the top companies offer great options. -
Yeah no kidding, problem is I have a 4 year old no morning league for me then I work 2nd shift for day care purposes no afternoon league either I play on whim whenever the opportunity presents itself I'm not mad I understand I can't expect anyone to be on my schedule just seems the guys that were willing to travel all over Michigan or play 36 on Sunday just lose the desire to do so after a while! Anyone in southern Michigan need a regular partner I'm in the Jackson area between Ann arbor and lansing.

Hah! The wonderful block the ball one swing draw or hook the ball 5-30 yrds on the next for me I had to train myself to stay behind the ball and keep my right heel on the ground until after I strike the ball when I tried to focus on the descending blow I started leading with the shoulders and couldn't square the face up or get handsy and shut it down now when I miss its always a big swinging hook but I only have one miss try making sure that your turning back and through watch the sliding in the back swing don't let your right hip move laterally on the back swing.

I have a couple of different golf buddies, and even though I still play with them occasionally none seem to hold the same passion for golf as I do most last 2-3 seasons and then don't want to play any more than 1-2 times a month for me its hard to find someone that wants to play 1-2 or even 3 rounds a week year after year all of them still call me when they want to play but I play more often than not by myself anyone have this same issue ? I have a family and work a lot of hours its hard to meet new golfers.

New TaylorMade 5-piece golf ball Penta TP
jcrob902 replied to SpringBokVol's topic in Balls, Carts/Bags, Apparel, Gear, Etc.
I agree the ball to me has the greenside control of a pro v 1X with the mid-long iron distance of the tour I and the distance/ wind control of the B 330 I'm impressed and not even a taylomade fan. -
SHUT UP, MY GOD! 56 I would be in short sleaves! not only did it snow about 2inches but now it's raining and about 30* not really cold but very shitty the only golf I'll be playing is on a similator FOR ABOUT 5 MONTHS I tried to get my wife to move to the carolinas but she wouldn't have anything to do with it I hate you guy's with the warm weather alll year long. Just kidding what I hate is I don't know anybody to come visit in the winter down there so I can play.

Yes it is easy to hit the ball in the forehead, yes it is easy to get to handsy and hit it fat! however it is easy to hole out or get it close on those little 15 -30 foot pitch/chip shot's you encounter every round because it always seems you misson the wrong side of the green. Practice practice practice with this club and you'll find you love hitting those little 30-40yrd pitch shot's that instesd of flying over the green sit tight around 5-10 feetand those little chip shot's that roll by and leave you the 5 footer coming back turn into 8 inch kick in's. Bye it practice with it and you'll love it.

I found out I have to be very smooth with my hybrid to not hook it I think that fast swing speed is a killer with these club's ( for me any way) besides a smooth swing will put the ball out there a long ways I love these club's when I can control my tempo go with the 19* it will fill the gap perfectly plus they come out of rough and bunkers better than long irons.

Where have you gone oh swing?
jcrob902 replied to golf_junkie27's topic in Instruction and Playing Tips
yeah your brain would just stop all together trying to be mechanical with all those swing thought's going through it I think it's pretty good advice if you can't get loose and have fun trying to hit a flop shot with a 4 iron than you should go buy a new bowling ball at least when one get's away from you you don't have to chase it. -
I guess the question I'm trying to ask is if the shaft is to stiff or to light would it not allow me to get the right amount of kick out of the tip and keep the club face from squareing up at impact ? I'm just wondering if this has happened to anybody else where they kept the same swing and clubhead but switched shaft's and went from hitting terrible shot's to consistantly hitting good shot's?
-
Can a driver shaft that is to stiff cause you to hit high ballooning fade to slice shot's.

Noticed the other day that the MP600 was on sale everywhere for $199.00 down from $399.00 is there a new MP model on it's way or what I can't find any info on this but would really like to know anybody heard anything?

The Z-star reminded me of the B330 a little softer with a little more spin (very little) I would say they are like a mix of a B330 and a Pro V1 better than the tour IX or tour I never really cared for calloway balls they feel clunky off the putter I would say Srixon would be moving in on the #1 ball in golf if more people would try it I think they would switch.

My opinion was that the R7 460 was much more solid feeling and a little bit heavier which I liked as all drivers are going lighter for higher swing speeds, my favorite was the Cobra S91 pro S the Titleist 909D3 or 2 and the Mizuno MP600 there are a lot of great drivers out there so try them all I used to really like taylormade but over the last 3-4 years it seems like there more interested in quantity instead of quality and the new burner, R7 limited and R9's have all seemed to lack something that really made me want to pull the trigger on one of TM's new driver's.

most overrated clubs/brands? most underrated?
jcrob902 replied to dmband8985's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
I agree and under-over rated where?, on this thread or on tour or marketing? on tour you don't see many Mizuno player's but on this forum you see a ton of them, but here goes. It's got to be callaway and taylormade in the overrated catagory and bridgestone srixon in the underrated. and we could take it a step farther and catagorize things. -
we'll to be honest wit hyou the only ones I hit we're the MX25'S which I bought and the new ones the MX200'S I would save the money and buy the mx25's if that's what your interested in as personally Ii didn't notice a difference, that being said I did notice a difference in the MP57's from the MP52's the MP57'S we're better to me they felt better and looked better the MX25'S just worked better for me and they actually felt the same as the 57's just easier to hit.

Alright, I have always been a Titleist faithfull when it came to irons and still am with ball's but last yeaar I switched to Mizuno irons I tried all of the clubs out there and was very Titleist biased when I started I can bet anybody out there that if your not caught up on having your set from driver to putter and bag match that after a couple of session's trying different clubs that your most likely to end up with Mizuno irons even if you go with the MX line you'll get exactly what you need in playability I am very impressed with the irons this company makes you should give them a try before you pull the trigger.

I think I'd done with the three wood
jcrob902 replied to alcorn's topic in Instruction and Playing Tips
addd a wedge not a hybrid honestly how many times do you score with your hybrids close the gaps in your wedges for example PW 47* Gap 51* sand 56* lob 60* or something like that also you could go wit hDriver 10.5* 3 wood 15* or 15.5* drop the 5 wood and 20* and go 19* hybrid 4-pw with the wedge combo I suggested with the right clubs you'll have 14 clubs with good yardage gaps, just something to think about. -
I play a hybrid and so does more than half the PGA tour players who all can hit a 3 iron about as far as most of us can hit our driver but choose to use a more versatile club I'll tell you that you'll love your 3 or 4 hybrid when you got a long shot out of the fairway, rough or bunker I just this past weekend hit my 3 hybrid 215yds over water to about 20ft ( rarley ever happens) but would never happen with a 3 iron the game won't all of the sudden become easy because you have a hybrid or 2 but do your self a favor and look at into getting 1 or 2 you'll be glad you did matter of fact go try a 3 iron next to a 3 hybrid and see for your self it may be the best for you.
-
If you like mizuno irons try the mp52's or the 57's the mx200's fit into the catagory with the X20's and the S91's never been a big fan of callaway so little to no experience with most of there clubs but also consider Cleveland they make a real good iron that you also could not go wrong with, well good luck to you and give them all a try you really can't go wrong with any of the clubs your interested in so don't put to much into brand names.

Critique my driver swing (video)
jcrob902 replied to Pinseeker81's topic in Instruction and Playing Tips
That's about what I thought as I had the same problem and ama actually still working on it I used to hit a draw or nasty snap hook and hit the ball pretty good regularly shot in the high 70's and then I could barley break 90 last season with the help of a local pro I found out without even realizing it I was moving my shoulders first on the down swing, draw a line on the video from your left shoulder to the ground and watch your left shoulder as you start your down swing notice how it gets ahead of your hips because you start your swing with your shoulders and follow with your hips and then your legs if you can start from the ground up you'll hit the ball better and have better control with your irons you won't hit so many fat and thin shot's get some lessons where they shoot some video and put you side to side with a tour pro and you'll really be able to see the difference. best of luck -
yes absolutly every body I play with outdrives me but can hardly ever hit wedges good enough to make those big drives matter, when they miss the green with there iron shots there chips and pitches don't help them either I almost always win because they are so incinsistant with there mid, short irons and wedges so yes if you can't hit the long ball kill them with the short game it deflates the ego and takes them out of there game.

Nice is this guy serious or just playing I'm going for the later, because the only cocky sob I ever heard mention that this game was easy just killedthe ball on the driveng range and bragged and bragged bout how he played all the beast courses ( he had enough money to play thise courses no doubt) came to the course with me and I beat him by 10 shots I guess it just wasn't that easy for him that day.brah
