What TM clubs are you playing to date? I see you mentioned the burner 5 wood, is that the burner or the tour burner 5 wood? because if it's the 07 burner line I agree it was a good line, but then they exploded with 5 drivers in the last 12 months, my r7 3 wood and my rescue mid are great but the driver's just don't have the solid heavy I killed it feel that they used to have, and that's what I mean when I talk about the quality of the clubs.

help me find an iron set, few Q's
jcrob902 replied to aquafresh's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
If you like pings get pings if you want good used irons look for some good used Mizunos as far as fitting goes you can get fit and then buy club's off of e-bay but a fitting will cost you if you don't buy the clubs from the retailer in question, however you could buy the clubs if you dont hit them good say a little hook for example then you could buy some lie tape and that would at least tell you if you need to get them bent flat a couple of degrees, or vice versa, as far as length goes I would go at least 1/2 inch long as it's always cheaper to take alittle off and regrip than to reshaft and then regrip. -
Best new Drivers on the Market
jcrob902 replied to shakogolfer78's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
Went back to miles of golf today, and am sold on the Cobra S91 proS,the r9 was just weak the D3 and MP 600 we're right there but the S91 pro S just out performed the launch was mid the flight was the most penatrateing ball flight I ever had and the ball just seems to carry forever and then roll out, to me this is definatley the best driver on the market! plus with it being 1.5* open I can turn it over without to much worry of over cooking it O.B. -
I'll be honest your not missing anything spectacular, well as far as I'm concerned anyway I have 2 taylormade clubs in my bag but unless they bring back the quality from 2-3 years ago I won't be adding anymore I demoed all of the 08 and 09 TM drivers and was so dissapointed it will take alot of hype to even get me to try another driver of there's, I'm sure there will be some that disagree heavily with what I have said but give me quality not quantity.

well accuracy comes from touch and feel something you have to have to score, and who knows he may never be the power type of player, the only reason my handicap is what it is right now is because I tried to make some swing changes to gain more distance and it backfired drastically! It just destroyed my short game and mymid iron game, the guy's I play with are all about power hitting it 285 to even well over 300 on occasion, but I routinly beat them by 5-10 strokes simply because even when we play a course that offers a power advantage they don't know how to use a wedge and don't know how to control there distance. What difference does it make if you hit a driver 330 yds but can't hit a consistant shot from 120 and in.

Felt the same way, was expecting to buy a new TM driver this year, tried the tour burner, r7 limited,09 burner, and the r9 didn't like any of them, I think TM is so wraped up in putting a new driver out every 3 months that the quality just isn't there any more. I've narrowed it down to 3 clubs and soon will go through a fitting and see which one performs the best. Cobra S91 pro s Titleist 909D3 and Mizuno MP 600 all of which we're far better than the r9 to me anyway.

You know better than that, but if it makes you feel any better ther is a bridge that comes right into Detroit so if you want to come see the cup your more than welcome.

Re: Never been a believer of Mizuno woods...
jcrob902 replied to Stacey_E's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
I have hit both at an outside demo day last weekend, and as a 6 you will probably get more out of the MP 600, the rep tried to push the MX 700 on me and I just didn't like it it seems like all the G.I. driver's if you will, cater towards high ball flight, high launch and high spin, they claim it's high launch low spin but it balloned way to much for me,as did the Diablo an all the other $300 drivers probably the shaft's more than anything, the MP 600 was one of my top 3 clubs along with the Titleist 909D3 and Cobra S91 pro S,I'm going with the Cobra S91 pro S -
I have read on a few different post about how people hate Taylormade I am not a big fan of there's myself I don't like the fact that they put so many driver's out every year that it just seems like the quality of the club's (wood's in particular) have just gone down hill since the r7 425,r7 460 and 07 burner, any other reasons that you like or dislike Taylormade.

Anyone hit the Cobra S9-1 Pro Fairway Woods?
jcrob902 replied to Hokie2k5's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
I also have been wondering about the fairway woods I'll find out by this weekend I'm going to a golf show by Detroit, I did however hit the driver's this past weekend at a demo day and was so surprised with the driver's that I forgot all about the fairway woods the pro s model is one of the best Drivers I have hit by far if the fairway wood's are any thing like that then I'll be adding a couple to my bag this spring. -
Are you really good enough to play your equipment
jcrob902 replied to AbsoluteZero's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
I agree I got rid of my old titleist 990's and went with the mx 25's however I wished I would have gotten a mixed set and then had the clubs bent to match the lofts, the 3,4,5 iron in the mx line i just don't hink you can go wrong with them but I would like to have mp 57's for the 6-9 iron and then mp-t series for the wedges. -

jcrob902 replied to AbsoluteZero's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
I've got to be honest with you guy's and say that even though the AP2'S are designated players irons I think if you want them and you can hit you'r irons solid you can play these irons imo there right on the edge maybe in between players and gi irons there is a little thicker top line then my old 990's had and they felt and we're just as forgiving to me anyways as my mx 25's ( not that the 25's are a very forgiving iron) but seriously if you'r playing off of a 10-15 you should have no problem hitting these clubs. And besides it's an incentive to learn to hit crisp iron shots. -
20+ handicappers hitting 300 yards (mild rant)
jcrob902 replied to extremeld's topic in Instruction and Playing Tips
Part of the reason all the pro's don't average 300 yd drives is because alot of them are playing for placement not distance, when you can have an easier shot into and a better chance of even hitting the green by hitting a 2 iron and laying up instead of trying to turn a dog leg with the driver ( and hitting a 4 iron is just as easy as hitting a wedge for them) then you lay up and it's those 2iron and 3 wood tee shots that level out the distance average of the 360 yd drives with the driver, what was tigers average ? 290 something but he hit the ball like 392 yds in the U.S open at oakmont on that 600 yd + par 5 -
That's also the way the Nike Dymo str8 fit is to it seems a little backwards but that's what it's designed to do open it for less loft and clse it for more.

XG-7, Sabertooth, Black Series #1
jcrob902 replied to bogeyhitter25's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
Depends on what kind of putter you'r after, you've got some very different models on the list if you'r after another 2-ball and you like the #7 then check out the f-7 it has the fangs from the #7 with the 2-ball in between. Now, if you'r looking for a blade the black #1 is a sweet putter I have the white hot tour#1 and am thinking about trading it in for the black I absolutley love the way this putter feels and the distance control is remarkable. good luck on finding the right putter go check out the odyssey web sight and see what they have. -
I would move west, the trip to Japan this past July killed all world travel for me 14 hrs on a plane is enough to do that, And besides warm weather and being able to play golf almost all year round and spend time with the family is perfect for me.

Dude, being a white man married to a black women and having a bi-racial son I can't halp but think that I'm very glad I'm not sending him to a country a$$ school where people just don't know any better, it wasn't about uneven fairways and it wasn't about the black man! it was about dominance about Tiger being that guy that you bow down to,that all the other guy's fear to go against and the Rory Sabatini's don't know any better an run there mouth an then get crushed! it's about that you talked all that sh!& now what are you gonna do while I'm stepping on your neck type of dominance that the commercial was representing, and the marketing side! Golf is much more profitable with Tiger playing than with him Not.

jcrob902 replied to extremeld's topic in Instruction and Playing Tips
Well come to michigan I'll show you a guy that's 5' 6 and 180 that will out drive you 10 out of ten time's he's not a 20. But I will show you 2 guys one's 61 230 and the other is 5'10 210 and both of them will out drive you but they wont beat you I know because I can hit the ball 245 - 260 on average withthe occasional bomb for me any way of 275 - 285 and I'm happy withthat I might say but these guy's can't pst a decent score to save there life. There full swing I wish I had that ! but there iron play and 120 yds and in game I mean it when I say this it's painfull, they take this big swing and then try to slow it down to hit the shot the right distance, it's, it's ugly it's real ugly, and then you put them on the green for a good 2-3 strokes and that my freind is how you shoot a 92 - 102 every day of the week don't matter how big you are but how cordinated you are and how much feel you got brotha....
