A couple more things! Search for toddler / child golf on youtube - you'll fin a lot of videos. I read an article recently on Junior golfing (After my previous post.) they have junior golf tournaments . . . and the way they do them is really neat. Par 3 course . . . everyone gets a certain amount of shots - say 32. After 32 shots - you're done - and a flag goes in the ground where your last shot ends. the one who gets furthest around the course is the winner. I could see this being pretty neat for a fun game with the kid . . . see if they can beat their last "round." It's easier for them to relate to rather than the number score I guess, and keeps it even more fun for them. Can also work it into practice for yourself. you let ytour child go first - and your goal is to land your ball as close to his / hers as possible. Good short game practice.

I've heard of friends taking out their sons at this age or around the 4 year mark. They take a t shot . . . then they drive to the ball to pick it up - help you drive the cart . . . then put their ball back down on the green to putt when you get there. 1) keeps it fun for them 2) keeps things moving fast just incase there are golfers behind you. A par 3 course would probably be great for this . . . as your son wouldn't see you taking a couple to few shots to get to the green. You both have 1 shot - then you're putting! Keep us updated on your father son time and how it goes! Jon

Good Luck on everything! With losing the weight - I lost around 25lbs in a couple months. (from 207 down to 180) All by counting calories. search calorie count about.com - sign up for an account, and get started. It's great for us guys - it gives us a baseline for what we burn per day just sitting on our asses . . . eat below to lose, eat above to gain - eat around that number to maintain. Very logical. My Goals for 2008 are : Re-commit myself to improving my swing and game. I've been getting worse for the past 3 years. Take lessons from a reputable teacher here in town Play more golf on the company dollar, and take more clients out.

great - looking forward to trying it out next summer. What was your web address again? I was going to post a scorecard method on there. Jonathan

I'm pulling for John to get back in the game as well. I think the guy is great - no bullshit, tell it likeit is type of guy. It's not beer that's his downfall or big problem - it's the Jack Daniels - that's when things get bad. Hopefully his current wife gets out of prison soon, they have sex, and he plays well again.

Phils boobs are bigger than tigers.

I'm both as well - I'm inclined to click Tiger - he's an amazing athlete - why did I click Phil?? I don't know - Fat, Lefty, Family Man . . . who knows. I clicked Phil, and I think maybe I shouldve clicked Tiger. But then if I did that, I'd think I should click Phil. . . . I'm both. I'm a Tiger Vs. Phil Guy.

JonnyRockets replied to JonnyRockets's topic in Tour Talk

I just finished John Daly's new book - My Life in and out of the Rough - Always loved John Daly - lot's of things in his past.

Getting Fitted before having a 'decent' swing!?
JonnyRockets replied to JonnyRockets's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
But can getting fitted make you close your club properly through your downswing. Not trying to start a fight or argument or anything, just trying to understand a little bit better. Just in my head I'm thinking that if I get fitted with a pretty screwed up swing vs. a decent one that needs a little work - My fitting won't go right and I'll be all messed up once I do get my swing in decent shape. I'm not stubborn on this, just wanting to be educated on this. Thx for the answer prutkows. Anyone else? or anything to add? -
Hey all - been reading a lot of posts pertaining to the importance of getting fitted. But I always seem to see people saing how important it is to try out different clubs etc. BUT - what if your swing is sucky. I'm a lefty - and pushing just about everything left - How can I try out new clubs, or get fitted, unless I'm hitting the ball decent? Jon

Stats Keeping - IntelliGolf Eagle Ver. 8.0
JonnyRockets replied to Rafcin's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
I've got this on my PocketPC as well - and have been generally impressed with it also. I will agree with the trouble shots thing and club distances. Would be nice to have an option to pick a club - click on "bump and run" box or something like that. One word of warning - I once synced my PocketPC with my computer while Intelligolf on the PPC was still running - and something wonky went wrong - and it mixed up a couple rounds and deleted another and deleted a course - no idea what hapened there. I keep all my scorecareds - so I can fix things up and re-enter . . . but who knows what will hapen - may start fresh. The version I'm using is a late 7 version (like 7.7 or something.) I'm looking forward to trying out Erik's software when it's released for PC - as I find I'm not really using the PPC on the course, but I'[ll use it afterwards and go with info I entered on my scorecard. -
Just a few things I do to keep putting well Tempo ------- The Tempo thing really helps for me - thinking of a Piano metronome. Like a tick tock tick tock. I do my practice strokes a few times - back and forth - until I feel I have the correct "tick tock" in my head. I go up to the ball - line up - one last lok at the hole - look down - then . . . tick (back) tock (forward) this helps me not to decelerate or accelerate through the swing - which I find can screw me pretty good. Head Movement ---------------- I will try and do 4 - 5 holes without ever looking up after I putt - to teach me to kee me damn head down and from moving all over the place. So I commit to my putt - line up - tick tock - and listen for it to drop (hopefuly.) I may take a peek once in awhile ;)

yup - need el Mac-o at some point Erik said he's going to come out with a PC version - when - who knows! Jon

What percentage of your "golf" time is practice?
JonnyRockets replied to NCGolfer's topic in Instruction and Playing Tips
Going to start getting to the range more often - Actually working out a deal to get work to pay for it hopefully. Right now I said less than 25%, and with the progress I'd like to make - I think I want to ramp that up a bit. -
Here in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan - up in Canada - not bad - can do 18 at a few really nice courses for around 40 bucks walking. There are a couple courses in the 50 dollar range. There are a TON of courses in SK to play when you travel though. More golf courses per capita than any other place in the world. Every small town seems to have one (though some are sand greens.) Me - I'm cheap right now - I will play those more "expensive" courses - but my favoites are the 17 dollars for 9 holes deals. Jon
-
I'll use any ball marker I can find in my bag - have various plastic ones from various golf courses, have some bogeypro plastic ones - have loonies and toonies (canadian coins,) and quarters. Though I just bought a 'gclip' and it comes with a magnetic one. I'm getting tired of digging in my pocket for tees, ball markers, divot repair tools etc. and tired of stuffing my glove into my back pocket - so looking forward to trying out my new gadget - I think it's a great design! Jon
-
Right now I'm experimenting with my putting style - Used to be a die at the hole type of guy - But I kept leaving all my putts short - so now I'm going at it agressivly - but still trying to jusge to keep it in a 2 - 4 foot circle if I blow past. Jon
-
I ususally have the center of the ball at the top of the driver - though I'm now experimenting with it lower and changing the ball position a little. No matter what though - my drive seems to rocket out like a bad mo fo - then seems to get a boost of power and rocket straight left. (I'm a lefty.) so needless to say - I don't use my driver in a game much right now.
