  1. Having lived in Arizona my entire life, I'm curious how many of us are affected by the colder months. With the temperatures beginning to drop, does that limit your ability to play? Have any of you played your last round of the year yet?
  2. Dustin Johnson had just about the worst luck ever with this shot. The announcer even described it perfectly in one word: "Cruel." Have you guys ever had any "cruel" levels of bad luck?
  3. I'd do this in a second. Part of the greatness of playing golf is being in such beautiful environments. This is would be beautiful in a VERY different way.
  4. (skip to 2:40 to see his antics on the golf course...)
  5. Was he one of the first guys to do this? It just seems like golf courses would have figured they had a gold mine of free balls in their own lakes like 50 years ago. Maybe that's how he pulled that 1.7 million ball figure, he found 50+ years of balls at the bottom of every lake! But I still doubt he was the first to do this, and there's no way he found that many balls in that amount of time.
  6. This trailer totally blew me away! I was thrilled with what I saw, and it didn't give away any of the story. This trailer was all about setting up the characters, and each one had their own little dedicated part. THAT'S what Lucas really messed up about the prequels, he didn't create character's we actually cared about (with the exception of Obi-Wan, of course). From what I've heard, the writers of The Force Awakens (which includes one of the writers for Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi) set out from the beginning to create characters we could connect with, AND THEN put them in the Star Wars universe. If the characters are cool and likable, and the story is interesting, they've got a hit on their hands. The Cinematography was the most impressive thing, I think. That shot with Kylo Ren drenched in red as the camera pans forward? That was badass. This trailer gave me... a new hope.
  7. http://www.bbc.com/news/world-asia-china-34600544 Turns out the commies aren't too keen on Golf. Which is a shame, because China's golf industry was EXPLODING. Ever heard of Mission Hills? They own both of the largest golf resorts in the world, and they're mind-blowingly huge and extravagant. I visited china about a year and a half ago to visit a friend who lives there now. It's important to realize that many of the rich and well off people in China belong to the Communist Party, so it's unclear how this new rule will affect the growing Chinese golf industry. It's a shame, who knows what would have happened to the golf world if they had promoted golf instead of banned it... Here's an aerial view just one of their massive golf resorts, with a total of 216 holes: I think it's safe to say that a ban of 88 million people from the game of golf is bad news for everyone who cares about the sport. Hopefully chinese golf will survive.
  8. Living in Arizona, I just want drinking water available on every hole. Every. Single. Hole. Nothing ****s up my game like being dehydrated, and if you miss one water fountain or tank, the next one isn't for a few more holes. It really takes the fun out of it when you're literally dying.
  9. I think this hole is just a gimmick to stand out, and I would definitely jump at the opportunity to play a Par 7 hole just once! It'd be different, a challenge, and something funny to remember and talk about. But as for every course having a hole this long, I'm with you. This isn't something we need in every round of golf. Ridiculous course lengths becoming standard is hurting the game, and I hope it doesn't get worse. But this single hole would be fun, without a doubt.
  10. Quote: 3. Larger cup size. I don't know about that. You don't see people talking about increasing the size of the basketball hoop, do you? The point of the game is to get the little ball into the small hole. If we start increasing the size now, where will it end? Will it really add to the fun? Doesn't the difficulty of golf add to the fun? You won't feel nearly as good if it's significantly easier to make putts.
  11. Try 1,098 yards ! That's .63 of a mile for one hole! AND it's a Par 7 . It's in South Korea, and it's a doozy. http://www.pga.com/news/golf-buzz/par-7-1100-yard-hole-provides-challenge-long-hitters-in-south-korea (numbers are in meters, not yards) I would be so pumped to play this hole. It would be a trek! With courses getting longer every year, is this where the future of golf is headed?
  12. Doing that on your first shot is the worst! It gets in your head and can be a big mental block for the rest of the round when you do it in front of people you don't know. You get that feeling they're always judging each shot. Glad to hear you managed to come back!
  13. If you're posting about yourself, here's a video to make you feel a little better:
  14. I don't think self driving carts would be very useful until "smart balls" are comon place. How else will the cart know where to drive you to your next shot? The ball has to be sending out some sort of signal for the cart to know where to go automatically. I'd much rather drive Bubba's hovercart! Hopefully, that's where the future is...
  15. I know Smart TV's have been around for a while, but the new apple tv looks extremely polished and should have a bright future as it finally offers something of value. Even if you never get an Apple TV, it's safe to say that whatever Apple does, the rest of the industry follows. So when Apple TV's and Android TV's are ubiquitous, what sort of Golf TV app would you want to see in the App Stores? I'd love the ability to: - switch between different featured groups at will during tournaments - turn off the commentators so it's just the ambient sounds - bring up the scoreboard or personal stats whenever I want - interactivity (like answering live polls or voting on things along with everyone else who's watching)
