Thanks for your reply. The club is in storage some distance from here so I can't get shaft details just yet ( I will on next visit ). my current ss is 88-90 and the distance I would like to achieve is 200m plus a bit of roll

thanks. I'm doing that so I might do some horse trading.

I have an older Cobra driver with a draw-biased closed face angle probably of 1 degree or more. Bending the hosel to open the face to neutral doesn't appear to be a good option so my question is: Would a change of shaft have any effect on the face angle of the club? I suspect a non-adjustable club is just that but I would like to know for sure

Anybody play golf without keeping score on a regular basis?
Traveller replied to stealthhwk's topic in Golf Talk
Certainly. Only keep a record of pars in my notebook - nothing else, consequently my index could be anywhere between 16 and 36. Aim is to par every hole on the course at some stage. -
That's the truth of it. We not so good players tend to spend our dollars on lessons!

Read that the TaylorMade M1 driver is available in both 460cc and 430cc - one off or a trend? Wondering if the increase in mini drivers are leading a move back to the option of a smaller size. my driver is 422cc, not quite a mini but I'm happy with that .

Crazy is normal for a Kelpie, they're not short on brains either. Have a look at the movie "Red Dog"

I agree. Lifting the lead heel not only allows an easier turn and less strain on your back, but also bringing the heel back down tends (for me anyway) to stop me from popping up and topping the ball. I've noticed a lot of golfers doing this.

No they don't and I always give them a wide berth. Other wildlife I have respect for on a lot of the courses here in Australia are large monitor lizards (Goanna) which look like a smaller version of the Komodo Dragon, and various deadly snakes - there are some courses I play where a ball in the rough stays in the rough. I carry a snake-bite kit in my bag as a matter of course. But these hazards pale by comparison with a bear galloping down the fairway - that would really scare the bejazus out of me !

Couple of year back I was having a round in the small town of Wellington NSW Australia. On one of the par 5's I noticed a large male grey kangaroo feeding in the middle of the fairway about 100 yds away. Expecting to clear the roo I instead hit a low worm burner which missed his head by not a lot. He didn't flinch or run away, just turned to face me at full height as if to say "Wanna try that again?" I took a detour down the left of the fairway and hugged the trees, there was no way I was going to face down this fella - they are very muscular and quite capable of doing a lot of damage. He watched me all the way to my ball and then continued feeding. His females were under the trees near the tee probably having a good chuckle.

What is the single worst common on-course breach of etiquette?

Not raking bunkers after play irks me - pure laziness -

Yes but I bet your shots are straighter. Something I've learned from both Jordan Spieth and Bob Marley "Don't worry, be happy" -
And the M1 fairway wood looks good as well - like the idea of an adjustable hosel

Right there with you on the 5 wood, I can hit this RBZ club from the tee or off the fairway good every time. I sometimes go out just with the 5 and two hybrids. I took the 5 and driver to the range yesterday and hit them both the same distance, can't see the point of a driver when the 5 is such a sweetie of a club. In my bag today is a my main tee club, a Cleveland 3HT (17*) and 5 wood (19*) and I can do everything with these two.

Me too, I've flyfished some of the best places in New Zealand where I've done my hunting, I used to go deer hunting and carry a 4 piece rod in my pack, lived on fish & venison- how good is that !

deer, chamois, pigs, goats, small game hares, rabbits etc. skins and meat, used a BSA Majestic 30.06, BSA Monarch .243, Anschutz .22 magnum, Baikal 12G O/U field, now in the care of my BIL while I play golf instead. I climbed a small mountain on my 60th birthday carrying an SMLE .303 sporter - never saw any game, they probably heard me wheezing from miles away.

Good choice grandpa, don't they play golf all year round in Florida and Hawaii?

27.4667° S, 153.0333° E here you can play all year around (except in violent summer thunderstorms and bush fires)

My Cleveland 17* Launcher's shaft is the opposite - 43.5 inches, whereas my Adams Super S 15* 3-wood's shaft is 43.0 inches, but I still choke down on the 17* to get the best out of it . -
Thanks. Sea sun and guitar - how could you go wrong ! cheers

Hello to fellow golfers. My wife and I travel around the eastern states of Australia in a caravan and get to play on a lot of different courses. When on the Sunshine Coast where we have family, my home course is Bribie Island (at Woorim), and I also play at Caloundra. At this time of writing it is hot, 30c+ so games are best either early morning or late afternoon. My clubs are a mix of Cleveland and TaylorMade, with Lind (Australian) irons. I enjoy following the top tournaments on TV.

I use a 2009 Cleveland Launcher 17* 3HT (actually a 4 wood) off the tee and a 19* RBZ #5 wood off the fairway and tee. The Launcher has a larger than normal head and a bit of weight which suits my SS of around 90mph just fine.
