i highly recomend reading the "impact zone' by bobby clamet i think. but he basically says tour pros make a divot infront of the ball as higher handicappers always make a divot behind the ball making ground then ball contact. always focusing on hitting ball then ground first will greatly improve your ball striking .

20+ handicappers hitting 300 yards (mild rant)
shamsone replied to extremeld's topic in Instruction and Playing Tips
when i bought my tour burner i got it with a stock stiff shaft. then i got it cut down and tipped out to what is now a xx shaft which luckily work out perfect having the shaft length and stiffness all from the original shaft. i've hit many stiff flex drivers and do feel like they are a little flimsy for me but they were also not the same length as my current driver. i'd say go with the xx if your inbetween shafts and grow into it. i was also an avid weight lifter which helped out a lot with my distance/swing speed also. -

I'm 5'8 150lbs and i can hit one or two drives 300 yards playing 18 holes. I got a tour burner 9.5 with a xx-stiff shaft. my swing speed can get into the 120's but you also have to catch it on the sweet spot and hold your lag as long as you can. -
set up feet open, weight on the forward leg and right shoulder low. position ball forward of stance and take a short tight swing making sure to accelerate thru right under the ball. your finish swing should be longer then your back swing

i tried one out at a golf retailer and can't see any reasons to use one. for my sake at least. having the end of the grip rest on your belly just feels too wierd.

hmm i guess the website is telling me flighted means low irons go higher and short irons go lower so all your trajectories stay close to the same. -

shamsone replied to Chilli Dipper's topic in Balls, Carts/Bags, Apparel, Gear, Etc.
your good with any 3 piece ball with a soft cover i think it's called urithaine ?(sp) if your swinging in the 90's with little to no problem i don't see sacraficing any distance. -

4 years? yea i'd say it's time for some new grips. unless they are leather wraped which i doubt cause this isnt the 1970's. but 4 years is i'd say 3 1/2 years expired.

I am a student at the golf academy in the carolinas and soon to be a 2nd assistant pro at Blue Heron Pines golf course near atlantic city, nj

i think just liek shaft stiffness, length, type of ball, you should be measured to get the right grip. but anything after that is probably just mental. i know when i get something new like new shoes or a new glove i feel a little more confident. i'd say you can lose 3-4 storkes over all if you find that pefect putter grip.

I go to the golf academy of the carolina's across from the hard rock park. i like right behind it too. this is my last week in the south before i graduate from the academy then im moving back up to new jersy and playing golf for Rutgers Cadmen college

*Copy and pasted from usga rule book web site: Rule 25-2 Embedded Ball Rule Q. On what part of the course is a player entitled to relief from an embedded ball? A. Under Rule 25-2, a player may only take relief from a ball that is embedded in a closely-mown area through the green. A closely-mown area is any area that is mowed to fairway height or less. However, the Committee may adopt a Local Rule that allows for relief from an embedded ball anywhere through the green. This Local Rule can be found in Appendix I; Part B. 3. a "pitch mark" can be fixed with no penalty. a divot from a full swing anywhere but the green cannot be fixed, because then you are improving your lie which dosn't fly according to the usga

yeah avocet is in prime conditions right now. played with another single(that was from the northeast) and he said it's the best course he's played from so far. also i heard wildwing had like 3 or 4 courses but now all they have is advocet and the humming bird.

1. you can take your ball out and place it in the nearest spot. place it not drop it. 2. i hit it kinda like a punch or low shot making sure i hit down harder on it then usual. set up with your weight forward and lower your forward shoulder. that will set you up to hit down on the ball real good. 3. rules say you can repair your divot mark and replace the ball. spike marks tho, you cannot press it down

i think the question is will tiger beat jacks most wins and more majors record? because on paper jack is the better golfer with out seeing them play golf. but these days aren't like the days jack played in so who knows. until tiger beats jacks records i'd say jack is the better player

wild wing right off of 501 is offering 50 bucks for a round. just played there yesterday and it was beautiful. i'd recomend this course to anybody.

Project x 5.5 vs True Temper S300
shamsone replied to shamsone's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
yeah i hit a 6 iron 175 but i can also go after one and hit it 180. i did have a real fitting that showed my average swing speeds which came out to be in the low to mid 80's and my ball flight is a tad on the low side. would you guys say that project x shafts are a higher launch shaft? i've narrowed it down to getting s300 HL or these project x shafts.
