At my best I will have a thought or two. At my worst it is all encompassing and I can barely pick up a golf club properly which permeates into shot selection of course. I am not a mechanical player but a feel player for sure. The "mental" side of the game is what I struggle with most.

Read the book. Didn't find it to have an agenda nor be anywhere near as slanderous as early excerpts made it seem. The Carton accusations regarding the "icy" stares are quite over the top in my opinion.

I've read through a few articles and threads about what a lighter shaft will do, so this has me confused. My flight pattern was a draw with a 60g shaft Taylor Made 08 burner (and all my other clubs), but it broke. So I tried out some new drivers not really looking to closely, found one that felt nice and had a nice little draw on the sim and bought it Now, it is a 45g shaft Taylor Made 09 Burner. So it is lighter, but the flex (R) is the same. I can't play a draw to save my life! Isn't it supposed to be more draw-prone with a lighter shaft?

1) Putting from 10 ft in - listen to the ball hit the cup, don't look 2) Chipping - tempo tempo tempo

Interesting post. I have always been very slight (5'7, 144 at the end of last golf season - I live in Canada) so I made an effort to change that and get in better shape. Not for golf; in fact golf was not even on my mind when I started to train. But because I was tired of being a weak, out-of-shape slob... and looking like it. So I trained hard and ate like a horse for and put on 18 lbs to get up to 162. Now distance wise I have not really noticed a whole lot of difference. Where I have found a major difference is how consistent my swing is. I can play with ball position and know nearly every time what it will do because my swing is consistent. I'm not an expert so I have no way to prove it is because of my weight training, but all I can say is I feel like swinging the club is a lot easier. Just my $0.02 CDN

Average would guess in the 260's. Last round I clocked one on a flat hole that is 320 yds to 40 yds (with gps) so 280.

Why is Tiger no longer dominating like he used to?
bodmanza replied to senorchipotle's topic in Tour Talk
If you look at his winning percentage, it is actually higher now than it was from 99-03. Jebus looking at that list of majors is nuts! -
This. I crush my 5 wood higher and farther than I did with my Cleveland HiBore 3 wood. Swoop hook it every now and then, but that is just my swing!

zapppa I know what you mean... all my rounds have been 45-40 type rounds thus far. the last two saturdays i have shot 42-37 and 41-36, and the front is certainly not tougher than the back. Just the way the golfing gods are!

Past, Even or short of paralell

Short of parallel with everything except occasionally the big stick -
I'm not an abnormally long hitter. I'm 5'7 140 lbs, but my swing pattern generates a lot of power at the bottom. My driver averages 250-260, but is a regular flex and very inconsistent. Every other club is stiff flex. I know, I just don't think a 56 should be going that far but it does. I hit ball first and like I said it comes out hot all over the place, which leads to greater carry. But I am not concerned with that, its the pitch shots that I struggle with. Leaving myself 40 footers from 80 yards out is unacceptable if I want to start shooting low 80's consistently

I'm not sure, everyone has a different swing speed and trajectory of their impact. Put it this way, I changed my swing last year and hit ball first, thus compressing it against the ground, and found that I hit every single iron in my bag about 10-15 yards longer. It's up to you what feels comfortable. Personally I would sacrifice 5-10 yards for less of a draw. Sometimes it becomes a hook. Sometimes I play the draw and push it left without any draw at all.

Alright so I need a good drill... Quite frankly every shot I hit with my 56 W comes out hot, but with a decent amount of spin. I can hit it regularly 120 yards full on. Any drills for this distance? I hit ball first and would prefer to keep it that way as it checks decently for me.

Driver has fallen apart... suggestions?
bodmanza replied to bodmanza's topic in Instruction and Playing Tips
Tough to trust the swing when I am playing from the ladies tees on the opposite hole! But I see what you are saying... I was quite tense last round now that I think about it. My timing is definitely out... thanks for the tip! -
Pretty straightforward. I typically hit a medium draw off the tee (i'm a lefty). However the last two rounds I have played it has either been a vicious snap or pull hook, or I block it way left. The block I am pretty sure is a result of me shortening by backswing and can be avoided. It's the snap hook I am really worried about... Any tips?

Was going to start a new thread, but then found this one... I played in 3 Celcius (37 F) on Sunday morning. Was 1 over through 5. Then the blizzard came. By the 9th green, I was putting through an inch of snow, causing my ball to careen all over the place... Still shot 41 after I bogeyed out during the blizzard!

It's not supposed to be easy grasshopper. Otherwise it wouldn't be much of an accomplishment would it? It will come if you keep at it

Drive for show, putt for dough... as the saying goes.

I was in the same sort of boat... I would go to the range and practice my mid-long irons and driver the most. But when it comes down to it, how many times do I hit a 4 iron per round? Maybe 2 or 3. Whereas I would probably average 10-12 times with my 56. Now I work mostly on short irons (SW-9) and have my distances dialed (aim is another matter entirely!)
