  1. I think I know who this famousdavis is! Look at what we know about him. A) He hits his Eye 2's so purely that the entire range stops to admire and just watching him will knock off 2 strokes off your handicap. B) His negotiating prowess is so legendary that the seller actually pays him! C) He has so much self-knowledge (not sure if this is an actual thing but since he said it I'll go with it) that college courses about him require a letter of recommendation from Ping Mfg. D) He is so good looking that women skip their period when he walks by. All this can add up to only one thing. He is....the most interesting man in the world.
  2. Come on man, you can't be serious. You started this weird but much entertaining thread by stating you recently picked up the Ping Eye 2's and now you already won 3 club championships. Then you mention that we need a bit more honesty around here?!? Your phrasing indicates that your completely BS'ing. People stop and watch you hit your Eye 2's? People don't stop and watch a club. They watch shots. You also said the one time you strayed was when you used the 990's? Are you telling me that an expert player is going to blame his equipment (quality gear at that!) for losing a match? I'm sorry man but either your having a total joke at the forums' expense (which I don't necessarily condemn) or your compensating for something. Either way I personally thank you for the great laughs.
  3. That's it! That's is the quote that should end this thread. IMO this conversation is at an end.
  4. Ok, you guys win. But please be sure to wipe down your clubs after you have finished "lusting". I'll say this, I will never look upon another set of Ping Eye 2's the same way again because of you two guys.
  5. It isn't your posting of a set of irons that you really like, it's the incredibly subjective comments that your passing off as some sort of fact. You make statements to the effect of I'm a good ballstriker so my opinion means more and I flip (no pun intended) clubs so I am a better judge of quality. I mean, AP2's feel like hitting a tire iron? Really? This is your expert opinion? Come on man! And just to get you stoked even more I don't play the AP2's. I have the AP1's. Not even the 710 version.
  6. Crap, now I have to head over to Golfsmith at lunch and replace my Titleist's. Boy, just when you think you have found the right cult....
  7. Ok, I have just returned from the parking lot in which I have smashed every single Titleist iron that I had in the bag. Now, where do I get those irrefutably superior irons again? I mean, your a better ball striker than I am and as you clearly stated your opinion has so much more weight than mine I decided that the Ping Eye 2Plus Kool-Aid will be forevermore my beverage of choice. Thanks again and we'll see you around the compound.
  8. Yea, I understand that the golfer is and should be responsible for any damage however it always struck me as odd that homeowners who have a house on a course would be surprised and angry when something gets broken. I mean, it is a golf course after all.
  9. I was thinking the same thing. OP gushes about his man-crush on his clubs and the Ping hating begins. Is there any half-serious player out there that doesn't know all the major OEM's make quality equipment and it boils down to proper fit and taste? Sheesh, what a weird thread.
  10. This^^^ I have often told people that you can get by with cheap clubs, balls, ect but buy the best footwear and outerwear you can afford. Not much fun swinging a nice new R11 if your feet are soaked.
  11. It was meant as sarcasm, not racism. It was the use of the word "BIATCH" that set it off. My reply was not meant to offend or bring up race. It was a comment about the use of language. I apologize if anyone was offended. I guess I am a little sensitive to the use of language considering my oldest boy just recorded a D- in English and his answer to that was "Ain't gonna matter anyway." Again, it was about language, not some social commentary. Ok, back on topic.
  12. Are your MX-19's so muted that you really can't feel any feedback? I currently play a set of AP1's and granted they feel more muted than my much beloved but sadly gone 735CM's that I had before but I still know if I hit one off the toe, high on the face, ect. I asked this question to my teaching pro once before and in his opinion he didn't think that practicing with a blade would necessarily yield a more technically sound swing but the steady diet of instruction and drills suited for you would. But as he said that was just his opinion. And I do understand he has a dog in this fight! But to your point if your looking for a straight up blade iron why don't you check around used golf shops or eBay. There are a ton of single iron blades out there. And if all that fails then I will personally send you a Confidence 2 iron that I defy you to get 5 feet off the ground!
  13. Bunker Hills - Coon Rapids.
  14. It wasn't a question, it was a statement involving your use of "gangsta talk" in the course of discussing a golf related subject. I do hope I won't get a cap in my @$$ for my support of Tiger Woods.
  15. Good to hear from the delegation from Compton California. Thanks for contributing.
  16. Isn't that Rusty from National Lampoons "Vacation?"
  17. Well, I know one thing is for sure. That 8 shot whipping administered by McIlroy on Congressional and the field pretty much ended the "is he overrated" conversation in my book. The kid looks like something really special. Even if he is European. Just kidding!!!!!
  18. What's with all this nationalism associated with McIlroy's win? Is this some sort of purity test European fans have for their players? I was reading some comments on the BBC site yesterday and a big pissing match broke out over whether Rory is technically British because of his passport. Has any American Sand-Trappers ever hear any other American say anything negative about McIlroy because he is from N. Ireland? I doubt it.
  19. I had my doubts about this show when I first heard about it but was rather impressed watching it. I was thinking it would be Feherty trying to do his bit for an hour but as it turns out was a pretty good interviewer. This is the first original series from the GC that I am interested in. Really looking forward to the Johnny Miller episode.
  20. I wouldn't go quite that far yet but unless the golf gods get bored with it (and we all know they can and do!!!) it's Rory's for the taking.
  21. Makes sense to me. It's is a common sense approach. But the one thing I would take exception to is the condescending comment about how this isn't the US Open. While it is true that the players out on the course are not playing the US Open their course isn't Bethpage Black either. Most likely if a ranger/marshall/whatever they have out there were to say something like that to a player or group it would immediately put the player in a defensive mode and not much good can come of that. But with that said the avg time for their rounds they posted are about the same as the times around the Twin Cites area so maybe pace of play is a bigger issue in some places than others.
  22. Since this cat disappeared like a fart in the wind I was wondering what your favorite WesTyler moment was? I admire people that set high goals but there was something in his over-the-top enthusiasm that stuck me as less than serious. Hope the guy isn't sitting in the maintenance shed at his uncles course curled up in the fetal position suffering a mental breakdown after hitting something like eight hundred 7 irons in a row. This game will make you crazy enough as it is let alone trying to maintain a schedule like this guy attempted. It's a lesson for the kids out there.
  23. This^^^^ It could a regional thing but around the Twin Cities area groups let other groups through all the time. Just yesterday I was playing in a foursome with one guy who was very much like the one the OP is talking about. We let a twosome though on the 3rd and another foursome on 11. Wasn't a big deal and I have had the benefit of being waved through myself a few times already this year. It's just common courtesy and having some patience. To the OP, as long as your buddy is keeping up shouldn't be a problem. But like a couple of other posters here had noticed it sounds like he has some serious short game issues. Maybe you can teach him a real basic chip shot like a PW using a putter grip? Takes a minute to teach and a few minutes of practice and its a shot ready for the course.
  24. I'm OK with what was written. After all, it is an opinion piece. But to the legacy portion time has a way of viewing history in a contemporary light. Meaning the op ed piece was written with today's perspective but rarely do such opinions hold up in the long run. I think Tiger's legacy will be known for the incredible achievements he made on the course as well as increasing the purse sizes on the PGA Tour making a lot of players quite rich. Also, the exposure of the game to a worldwide audience is not something that can be ignored. The personal stuff he went though will be brought up from time to time but in the end it will be more of a footnote than a major factor in how his career will be perceived. I think his legacy will be viewed in a very favorable light when all is said and done. But, I also don't believe that the book is closed concerning Tiger. I'm willing to bet there are a few more chapters to write before he is done. IMO, I think he is past the personal turmoil portion and now it's a health issue for him.
  25. I can accept that. Just when I read the replies I thought it was odd that someone would reply multiple times stating they hadn't heard of so and so. Wasn't trying to get into a pissing match with anyone. Just killing time at work.
