You think Rory only has 5-7 competitive major tournaments left in his career!!?? I strongly disagree with that. He's only 35. I think he'll be competitive in at least like 20+ more majors.
-
Completing your first 2 holes in 9 strokes then taking 48 to complete the next 7 is wild.
-
I'm not trying to imply anything.

Causation does not equal correlation. Just because he "got jacked" doesn't mean that was what caused him not to win a major from 2015-2024. There are so many reasons other than "he was too jacked to make good swings under pressure" as to why he didn't win from 2015-2024. First, winning a major is HARD. It requires a lot of luck and things to go your way over the course of 72 holes. Second, there were so many good players that came along and won majors during that time period. The longer time goes on the harder and harder it becomes to win because the skill level of professional golfers as a whole increases over time. Third, sometimes you straight up get beat, like in 2022 Rory lost to Cam Smith who shot an 8 under 64 in the final round. Rory shot a bogey free 70 and hit every single GIR. There were plenty of other things besides "he got too jacked to make good swings under pressure" as to why he didn't win from 2015-2024. In fact, since the 2015-2016 season, Rory has been inside the top 10 in Strokes Gained Tee to Green EVERY SINGLE SEASON. Think about that for a second. 9 straight seasons he was in the top 10 of a key statistical area measuring full swings and you're trying to argue that he was too jacked to make good swings under pressure while offering no facts or stats that support your claim in any way?? C'mon man that's a horrible take.
-
You have no proof that Rory's perceived "jackedness" was hindering him from hitting the crucial shots under pressure at the majors. I don't think his jackedness caused Rory to miss a combined like 7 feet of putts over the last 2 holes at the 2024 US Open.

You arent.

So let me make sure I understand right. You joined a forum and created a post with a controversial take plus made multiple claims that are factually incorrect and when people call you out on it and ask you to back up your claims that makes us the auditors and somehow the bad guys? Got it.
-
Controversial takes are allowed here. Also there is no expectation that a take be 100% airtight supported by hundreds of facts that would stand up to the most rigorous scrutiny but there is an expectation that when you make a claim that you support it with facts, especially when directly prompted to do so on multiple occasions. Here are, IMO, the issues and what has rubbed people (myself included) the wrong way The whole selectively choosing who to reply to Ignoring direct requests to back up your claims with facts Continuing to spew additional things that are straight up wrong The most recent of which claiming that if Rory blows a 2 shot lead today that would be the greatest collapse since Greg Norman. Jordan Spieth blew a FIVE shot lead in the final round in 2016 yet somehow if Rory blows a TWO shot lead that would be the greatest collapse since Norman???
-
On this forum takes that arent supported by facts get called out. (Rightfully so) I'd rather not have a take than have a take that isn't supported by facts. You haven't given us any facts to check.
-
Good point! As to how to prove, no idea! Thats the whole issue I have with all the points you've made in this topic. You're the one making the claims, it's on you to back them up.
-
Dude. Everything you just typed has nothing to do with the two bullet points I asked you to provide evidence for.
-
Show me the evidence for the following please especially under pressure, he’ll yank shots to the left, and then overcompensate and push shots to the right. all this hyper aggression affects his play, especially under pressure. Until you do that I'm going to consider you to be trolling because you're just spewing nonsense and not backing it up with facts. You can't prove this to be true. We don't know how their careers would have unfolded had they made different decisions about their bodies and fitness.
-
You don't know that for a fact. You can't even provide evidence that supports the factors you listed out.
-
If you're going to make claims, back them up with facts. Do you have any facts that support this claim that Rory does this when under pressure? Did the hyper aggression negatively affect his play when he won The Players this year making that 2 wins in 4 starts for him at that point? Can you provide some evidence directly showing how his hyper aggression has negatively affected his play? This isn't even accurate anymore, they called the divorce off. If you're going to criticize someone at least get your facts straight.

2025 TST Outing Preliminary Blabber
klineka replied to bkuehn1952's topic in Member Outings & Meetups
Tentatively in for at least one of those days. My job situation is a bit up in the air at the moment so need to get that sorted out first then I'll know more for sure or not. -
Option #2 because I'd add the condition that it's in a tournament. Because that'd mean I'd break par in a tournament. And I already have a hole in one.

A big advantage hybrids have over a long iron is in the rough. Far easier to get a 19 degree hybrid through thick rough and hit/hold an elevated green than it is with a 19 degree 3 iron. I'm not an engineer or anything but I also think that since hybrids have a deeper face the center of gravity is lower and further back which can promote higher ball speeds and higher launch/ball flight. There are plenty of YouTube videos comparing hybrids to long irons and the pros and cons of each.
-
I mean it seems like this is your issue, yeah? If you're already at or near a 1.5 smash factor depending on which launch monitor then you're going to have to increase your clubhead speed if you want to increase your ball speed. (Assuming your launch conditions/delivery are also near optimal which it sounds like they are) Are you actively doing any speed training programs like The Stack, Superspeed, etc?

Anyone can cherry pick a green shape to fit their narrative. Now do the same thing but for this green that has an extremely sloped hill short, so good chance to roll back to the water, and mounds long that kick long shots OB. It's like a 175yd tee shot too. Or this one. Where the approach shot is from 200+ yds with a severe slope towards the water and very tightly mowed sloped runoff behind the green.

But if you clubbed down then the short one is going to be even shorter (even after it rolls forward a bit) It's not like a shot that was 20yds short is going to magically roll right next to the hole man.

Probably semantics but I used underestimating in the sense that there is some number that represents the lateral dispersion for mid/high handicaps and what you think that number is is probably lower than what it actually is. So I think (without any real facts) that you're underestimating the actual dispersion number which yeah I guess is overestimating their actual accuracy.
