I hit it for the first time last week. The face felt hot to me, not as hot as my G10, but hot. FWIW my SS is approx 114 and it was about 35 degrees out when I hit it. I'm looking forward to hitting it in Florida next week.

I have one and love it. However, don't buy one unless you regularly putt on quick greens. It's tough to get them to the hole with this putter on slow greens.

Love this club, can work it both ways, knock it down or hit it high and soft. My only complaint is I'm not a huge fan of the graphics on the top.

at 114 mph you should probably be using an X-Stiff.

I have the original X-Tour's which I bought new last year. I had them plugged with the Project X 6.0. They get up and out quick and offer me enough playability to get out of trouble in the trees. I suppose if I become a better ball striker as I gain more experience I may switch to something a little more traditional. For now, these are the perfect blend of playability and forgiveness for my game.

Better check into the lofts on both before purchasing. I believe the AP1 lofts are stronger than the AP2's. Under your scenario you might end up with quite a yardage gap between your 6 and 7 iron.

Erik, I've been kicking around the idea of switching to the V1 to get a little more spin in the short game. The V1 isn't quite as long, or so I'm told. That really doesn't bug me as I'm a fairly long hitter to begin with. What concerns me most about switching is accuracy off the tee. This is a difficult question to answer, but how big a penalty do you think you pay (accuracy-wise) with the increased driver spin?

According to Titleist, the V1 is more durable. I don't have much experience with the V1, so I can't vouch for this.

Couple shot in the dark things to try: 1) Tee it up higher, it will force you to catch the ball on the upswing. 2) Focus on getting more of a weight transfer. Get your weight back and leave it there until you get to impact position. You're likely pretty evenly distributed now, causing you to catch the ball on the way down. 3) If swing changes don't seem to help much, get on a launch monitor. You may simply have a poorly fitted club/shaft. I'm guessing since you're playing a 420cc club you're playing with "old" technology. Many of the latest 460cc drivers promote a high launch.

Just regripped with the PCI Red Hybrid last week. I like them so far, a bit better than the tour velvet. I do hear they wear fairly quickly, though.

I replaced the graphite shaft in my 20 degree Adams Idea Pro a couple weeks ago with a Project X 6.0. Couldn't be happier! It knocked my carry distance down from about 230 to more in the 220 range and fills the gap nicely between my 5 iron and 5 wood. The steel shaft has also made the club much more accurate. In short, it now plays like a versatile 3 iron. Before it played a bit too much like a fairway metal. The Rifle 6.0 would probably be a good fit since that is your preferred shaft.

I hit the demo AP2 6 iron at my club this weekend and these clubs felt almost identical to my X-Tour 2006 irons. They look remarkably similar at address, also. I'd say the ball flight was slightly higher with the AP2, but that was likely because my irons have 6.0 shafts and the demo club had a 5.5.

You will not be disappointed in the course, but I hope you're not opposed to playing in some inclement weather. Also, I'd make sure to make your tee time as close to noontime as possible.

It sounds like you're having the exact same problem I had early last season. Some have already touched on it above, but most likely you are getting "flippy" at the bottom. Start with your short irons and focus on keeping your weight evenly distributed (or even 75-25 favoring your front foot) and focus on pinching the ball against the turf. My "cure" was actually to try the "stack and tilt" for a couple weeks. It's principles taught me how to compress the ball again. I then returned to a more traditional setup. Changing your impact position is the most difficult thing to do in golf. It doesn't sound like you've ventured too far down the wrong path, so correct it now before the wrong move gets too ingrained!

This is the truth on Tiger's swing speed. I have no idea what CBS is trying to pull with that video from the Buick. Tiger does NOT swing the driver 139. Check it out the next time he plays on the Golf Channel. They'll have the doppler measure him with the driver. The long drive guys swing 135-140 but they are swinging 50 inch clubs. 5 inches adds approx 10 mph to your club head speed.

Tiger's max swing speed is 125. He averages about 122-123 with a normal driver swing.

If you won't say it, I will. No one here swings 120+ and finds the club face I hit a little under 50% of my fairways (with the driver). A bit higher than that with a fairway metal. I'd say that's about average for a player of my handicap.

Callaway's tour van clocked me at 118 last summer. That was the best of 5 swings. Avg was 116 I think.

A couple swing thoughts that might help: 1) try to get/feel your hands "high" at the top of your backswing 2) try and feel like you are hitting the outside third of the ball with the clubface

Some brief answers to your questions: 1) Yes! I paid over $1000 for mine last year from the factory, albeit with upgraded shafts. 2) I liked the feel and look of the X-Tours much more than the X-20 Tour, which is the current equivalent. Keep in mind the X-Tour is forged and the X-20 Tour is a cast club. 3) Yes, you can have them bent. I ordered mine standard and had them taken 1 up, then finally settled on 2 up. The original X-Tours are a great club, I suspect you will not be disappointed. I'd recommend re-shafting them with black gold's or Project X's for a more penetrating ball flight, but obviously DG's are a great shaft.

At your skill level it's going to be very difficult to tell the subtle differences between the various game improvement irons available on the market. Callaway, Ping and Taylor Made are all well thought of in this market. I'd suggest you get professionally fitted with the least expensive game improvement iron that you feel comfortable hitting and use the money you save on lessons and range balls. Good luck. In 3-5 years perhaps you'll be on here asking the same questions about "players irons".

I can think of one local course where I'd like to have a fade weighted club head on my driver shaft. But for $450? No thanks. IMO the iMix is going to be a dud.
