  1. He won't win, he'll be back in the pack but he will be under par. He's the best but he's finely tuned to his clubs. It would take more than just a couple of days to adjust and then still wouldn't have what he wants.
  2. I didn't care for it. They were doing chants like at a basketball game and I think that sets a bad example for how to act at a golf tournament. And that won't work.
  3. I am totally convinced that the low-fat diet is exactly opposite of healthy. I favor a low-carb diet. The best book (and I have read many) is Protein Power Lifeplan. Essentially, try to totally forget bread, potatoes, pasta, sugars. Eat nothing that's in a box. No grain products. If I were to take pictures of all of my meals, you would think "My, what healthy food!" (Meats, veggies, berries, melon.) Read that book!
  4. Your wife listened to you read aloud that entire golf story? You got a keeper.
  5. I don't have a manual with mine. Mine works fine but how do I turn that on? It might already be on.
  6. Several years ago, I had a Bushnell, maybe it was model 400? Worked great. Sold it when I quit golf. Back golfing again. Just bought Bushnell 1500 with slope and pinseeker. Works great. 15 seconds? No way. If it takes longer than about 3-5 seconds, you're likely doing something wrong. Just mount the device, push the button and move it around the flag. It should pick it up easily. I shoot flags at 300 yards, no problem. And also bunker lips. Just hold the button, shoot OVER the bunker, then slowly pull it down until it picks up the most distant part of the lip.
  7. Ron, from one who is definitely interested in getting max driver distance, Bobby Clampett says in his new book, the one that is based on the few inches after impact, that super high speed digital photography has now shown that contrary to popular folk wisdom, even pro golfers do NOT swing UP on the driver. Despite what they think happens. That the clubhead is actually moving down. Got a response? Does his revelation (if true) surprise you? (Not trying to be smarty pants, I like your video tips and suspect you a fine teacher.)
  8. Ogio Vaporlite looks good. Pic I saw showed the golfer carrying the bag and no head covers and it looked like the clubs were separated. I hate wood covers, what a pain. In fact, buy it here for $69, including shipping. This color scheme looks like an older model but the functionality appears to be similar or the same as later models. Only 3.8 lbs.
  9. When I look at any of their regional tours, for results, they show 2-5 players and their scores. I don't know if that means that this is all the players in the event or just the top x-number of places. I am curious as to how many players they are having in the tourneys.
  10. No, I think you mean a right hook. Ochoa turns her head to her right, AWAY from the target. Ron del Barrio allows his head to turn targetward as the body rotates toward the target. That's my take, anyway. To me, Ochoa's head turn looks very ugly. Yuck. Plus, she has this little move at the end of her swing that says "Yeah, I striped that one, let's make another follow through move for the camera." Needless to say, I don't like to watch her hit it.
  11. How do you use that Frogg Togg? As for whoever mentioned Under Armor underwear at $22, do you mean briefs? What's special about them to keep you cooler? $22... yikes!
  12. I came across his site somehow this morning and I have watched every single video! Wow, this guy makes a lot of sense, I can't wait to try some things he advocates. He has wonderful presentation skills, as well.
  13. It happened at a club I was a member of. Guy 1 aced, guy 2 aced.
  14. I think it's ridiculous to place such reverence to a flag and no, he didn't do anything bad.
  15. The OP may be talking about greens with bent grass. I am amazed at how soft those can be. The ball leaves a HOLE in the green half as big as the ball. We don't have that in the south where I live. Couple of courses tried it but couldn't maintain it due to the heat. In general, our greens hold but they are not THAT soft. Just a pitch mark and the ball stops within 1-3 yards on most well-struck shots.
  16. That's a very astute post. Kudos.
  17. I think you're right. See, he raised the bar. He is so fit, so perfect for golf, he raised the bar. He trounced them. Now, they are closer. And he is still beating them more often than anyone I have even known. I can't believe we are actually having this conversation, as he is still a world-beater, but I guess I understand, in that he is not winning by large margins. However, NOTHING has diminished my admiration of his talent in the past few years. If anything, it's increased. He is THE man.
  18. To the OP, what was your teaching method, in general? I find it amazing he shot 50 first time ever. That seems quite incredible.
  19. I played it two weeks ago. Even par through five holes, then the wheels fell off. I hit a drive and it was in the edge of the rough and we could see the ball sitting up. A crow swoops out of the sky and starts jumping on my ball and pecking hell out of it. I am not kidding, I have a pic I can post when I get settled again. The crow pecked for over a minute and we could not see the ball, he drove it down. When we got up there, we had to search hard to find it. I was told I have to play it as it lies and I made double bogey. That was the end of my even par. I shot 85 and triple bogeyed last freakin' hole, which I love. Hit into fairway bunker, then hit lip coming out, then hit short, then skulled it over, then chipped on, then 3 putted. Ugh. It was $495 plus $115 for caddy with tip. The course has fab scenery. The greens are TINY, smallest on tour. They are very hard to read, I had 35 putts even with a caddy who was always right about the putts. (really.) I could not get the speed. It would be uphill and he would say this is very fast and he was right! Then he'd say, even though this next one (on another hole) is downhill, it is very slow and he'd be right. He was good, very enjoyable and his name is Michael and I think he caddies on the weekend. Tall, dark-haired guy. The wind blew, of course. I doubt I would go again, as that is just too much money but, hey, I can say I played it once. And was even par through five. Until the damn crow. (I think I could have gotten a drop.) I wish it was like the Masters, where gear is fair but no, it's very expensive. Like $38 for a cap and $150 for a shirt. I bought a cap and that's it. I showed up at 7:30am Sunday morning and teed off at nine and I was a single. I went thinking that they had discount rates going on due to poor economy but not so. U S Open is there next year.
  20. Wow, that's amazing! I have a great nephew who is 7 and I just asked a friend of mine who builds clubs to make a 7 iron for him from an old club. Kid is a small kid but he's strong. He tries to hit my clubs in my yard and they are way too long, so, maybe he can hit this. I thought of taking him to a course where no one is playing to show him what it's about but then thought heck no, he shouldn't even see a course for awhile. Any recommendations or a club or clubs?
  21. That's a surprising comment but Miller is no dummy. Hmmm... to me, Tiger seems to be an excellent putter. Maybe not one of the best of all time but to me, I equate him to Nicklaus... when the dough is on the line, I'm betting on him. And that counts in a very big way!
  22. Overall, I don't think beer will help you. I played against playing partners who drank enormous amounts of beer. I would be staggering drunk. No telling how bad they would beat me if sober. Does beer enhance athletic competition? No.
  23. I have never made a hole in one but I did make a double eagle (3wood on par 5 went in). What does that cost me? Haha, nobody asked me to pay anything. What's neat about this is that a guy in the group made an eagle on that hole. And got beat. That's pretty cool.
  24. Hits water going for green on par five with his second shot. Takes drop, adds penalty, holes the shot. Birdie.
  25. FWIW, I don't know if you drink reg or diet but if you drink 6 reg cokes/day, that's 54 teaspoons of sugar/day! Get your sugar out and pour 54 tsp of sugar on the counter in a pile. You well may be headed for diabetes, heart disease, cancer, something... on down the way. Sorry, I just had to chime in in case it might help. Literally, pour the sugar on the table and see if it rings a bell. Too many people have no idea of how dangerous soft drinks can be, over time. It's a huge national problem.
