  1. You should enter just for the experience. I used to do long drive from 06- 09. Never made tv but would make it pretty deep in districts. It’s a blast. Lots of characters out there that’s for sure. Going to Mesquite with my dad every year were some great trips. Nothin like seeing an entire range full of tour bags with 12-15 drivers...................and a 6 iron😂
  2. IACAS I’m not chasin you around I promise, just happened to experience a similar situation when I got my new irons. 👍 when i switched from my Cleveland CG4 tours(cavity back) to my current Srixon 945s(blades) I noticed that my yardages were around 9 to 10 yards off(longer) with the 945s. Same shaft x100 and same grips. Both D3 swing weight. 🤷‍♂️
  3. I think your survey is broken. I didn’t see an option for “deposit in nearest water hazard”😯 I actually just replied to a different post about my driver failing me as I get better with my irons. Friday I just adjusted my driver up a degree and a half. I usually play a 9* and just haven’t been getting the air time I prefer so went up to 10.5* and it was wonderful. Haven’t used that much loft in quite a while.
  4. I agree with this. Sometimes it’s just nice to hear the wind, the leaves rustling and the birds. We play music often as well but we are pretty aware and considerate. Like you get more than 3-4 feet away from the cart and you can’t really hear it. I think it’s a carry over from scrambles. We play a ton of tournaments for the industry I am in and it’s basically a party on the golf course. It’s not very often I don’t see someone I work with(industry wise) when I go play and they are usually rockin a speaker. Not sure about everyone else’s area but it’s been getting more popular probably the last 2 years in my area.
  5. 83. The more my irons come around the worse my driver gets. The more my driver comes around the worse my irons get😣
  6. Kinda off topic but the funny swing aide things made me think of it but do you guys remember the old Tim Conway Dorf on golf movies. Those were pretty damn funny. The chain hooked downstairs to the top of the helmet. Good stuff.
  7. Like I said way earlier I think golf could have been more popular.
  8. Negligible?!?!? I will agree the actual tournament golf/ televised golf is a small part of golf but the equipment we all buy is notand that’s where it is sold. Ads are what drives the equipment market. You don’t see golf equipment advertised during football or baseball or hockey etc. Wow. Seriously. You were speculating that golf ads could cost more per 30 secs during speculated 12 hole golf rounds. You need to change your user name to chubby checker.
  9. But wait you just said you did no such thing? And my input on tournament golf was the last thing of my original post and the shortest part so I too was putting little emphasis on it, but tournament golf is part of golf as a whole so it needed to be addressed as well. That was your reply to my calling out your speculating on ad prices. I know how much you like your quotes so I didn’t want to disappoint.
  10. So that’s not speculating that tv ad prices would be raised if golf was 12 holes? Hmmmmm ok. I agreed with with pretty much everything else, time savings, cost savings and I even answered that golf could have been even more popular due to affordability. Not sure how I didn’t answer or have any input. One could argue that as much land as golf courses tend to use up there are some very good examples of how those courses saved the land or beautified the land that wasn’t being used.
  11. Bro you are ate up. The only constant we can use is that rounds of golf would be shorter due to less holes. With everything else equal there would be less TV exposure. Now you’re going to speculate/ give your opinion that you know how the economy would have turned if gold would have turned out different 300 years ago? But then tell other people they can’t speculate? Wtf How about you just save us all the “debate” and tell us if it would have been better or not. Then we can all run off and tell our friends that IACAS said golf would have been ___________ if it was 12 holes. By the way that’s an opinion/ bias. You feel it would have worked out but you don’t know. Just like none of us know including you if golf would have been better. You can’t answer your original question with facts, it’s all speculation/ opinion.
  12. Then we wouldn’t be having this debate because golf would be 12 holes. 😉👍🏻 You cant ask people what their opinion is and then say don’t think about yourself. It’s their opinion, when you form an opinion you will always include your own bias because it’s your opinion. You yourself included your own bias towards liking the 12 hole idea because rounds would be faster which you are a fan of. But to answer your question; better for recreational golf, worse for tournament golf. Golf would definitely be cheaper. My course is 55 for 18 so that’s 3.05 a hole. Which would be 36.60 for a hypothetical 12 hole course. Realistically 37. So yea it’s cheaper, it would be faster for sure. Courses would have opportunity for more revenue due to quicker rounds. Less impact on the environment certainly. Possibly more people playing due to better affordability and quicker rounds. But, you could possibly have seen more courses built causing less people at each course. So what happens, courses either cut green fees to attract golfers which impacts how much they can put back into the course or someone builds a nicer 12 hole course and charges more so would it really end up being cheaper? Would there be more abandoned courses that didnt survive due to so much competition? PGA tournaments would have smaller purses due to less TV/ Advertisment exposure due to shorter rounds and shorter tv time slots. But we wouldn’t really know how big purses could have been because we would only know 48 hole tournaments.
  13. Again comparing a near perfect round, better than perfect round and pga tour players against weekend warriors who on average shoot in the mid 90s and expecting the pace to be the same. 👍 and I’m pullin straw men? I’m just gonna say it cause you say it, I have no Phuken clue what it means though 😂
  14. For sure. We can’t even throw scrambles in here. We play a ton of scrambles in our industry and it’s an all day event, like all freakin day. Hahaha no kidding right. I keep meaning to take my gear with me so I can play there when I visit my crews in Long Beach.
  15. Everybody seems to be good with 4 hrs. That wasn’t the issue. Iacas said 5 was an issue so I asked how to cut it down now I’m accusing people of not following rules🤷‍♂️ even your provisional ball example adds time. Hitting your second tee shot, driving or walking to the area of the first shot and hopefully finding it in say 3 minutes hitting second shot and then driving over to pick up your provisional. And that’s just yours. There’s 20 other foursomes on the course during the weekend. $hit we haven’t even factored in bathroom stop, grabbing a snack at the turn and flirting with beer chick. 😂 We have course up here Stockdale CC, it’s like an executive course almost. Super short back and forth 18. A good twosome could get around sub 3hrs. But that’s the only one up here. Riverlakes spans through like 4 different housing developments.
  16. Ahhhhh yes way off base. 8x18= 144 is 2h 24m plus the hour for walking so 3h 24m so I was actually giving up 9 min. Thanks for catching that. I was simply using the other guys example of 8 minutes a hole We need your courses up here, you’re not getting around any course up here in 2 hrs bud. Let me guess you playin bixby knolwes par 3 course or something 😂😂😂
  17. What? Not sure wtf these straw man comments are but what ever. Never said fast players weren't playing by the rules. I said a perfect round is 3:15, that's not having any lost or searched for balls, no going back to rehit a shot all of those will effect your 8 min hole time. Out of all that the only thing you came up with is me saying fast players weren't playing by the rules?👍
  18. How do we/ does the golf community eliminate playing by the rules? And I’m not saying we are not obiding currently but if we are trying to establish handicaps there’s no way around it. If we are trying to be honest in an honest mans game then there are going to be delays. Even using the other guys timeline of 8 minutes a hole and an hour walking that’s 3hrs 15min. And if a person is playing to be good and establish their handicap then they are taking their time, lining up shots and lining up putts. And that 3h 15m is for a solo player. We haven’t accounted for foursomes. Even with ready golf you’re gonna add a good handful of minutes which pushes just your group towards the 4hr mark. expecting every level of golfer to play at that pace is just unrealistic. They paid the same as you and I so how can we expect them to not get the same experience we are getting? We can’t ask them to pick up their ball after 8 minutes. Do the courses designate two weekends a month to handicap establishment rounds? (and that’s an honest question). The rest of the month it’s just drop and go if you hit a hazard and nothing more than 8 on any given hole? Yes I agree. There are the slow scratchers and the fast 90 players. But with all things(ready golf, setting up, reading putts) equal if you take more strokes it takes longer.
  19. So then its not a pace of play issue its a logistics issue? Just trying to figure out why you would add that in then say it's not a factor? 4 hour rounds in most cases is perfect world. That's still a 6 hour day. If a person is expecting a perfect day every time they go to the course then they will be very disappointed. I don't want to be absolute but I'm pretty confident that people living or golfing in a major market/ city would agree 5 hours is closer to the norm. Take away the country club guys. If each guy loses one ball or has to rehit a shot during the round because he thought he cleared a hazard that's about 30 minutes added to the round when you drive up to where you thought it was, look for the ball, then go back and rehit. That's already 4.5hrs and that's not factoring in any person in any group ahead of you doing the same.
  20. There you go. There's your quote you asked for. You adding in drive time to the length of the day. With your own words. All I did was use the time frame you provided. I'm not arguing that some people have $hitty logistical set up but that shouldn't factor in to other golfers pace of play.
  21. So this is a very interesting discussion. What we know, the busyness of a course doesn’t contribute to slow play because regardless of skill level everyone should be playing at the same pace? (both of the above “facts” can be checked in previous posts) If some one could explain how a group who let’s say is a normal weekender group all shooting 90-92 is playing/ can play at the same speed as a decent group who are all shooting 80 or under I’m all ears. You’re talking on average 4.5 more shots per hole but that’s not slowing anyone down? Who knows maybe we just found out why you’re shooting in the 90s. Take your time on shots. As stated above people going at a par 5 in two can definitely bunch a course up, doesn’t mean they are playing slow though. If if a group of high handicappers is playing 18 in under 3 hours!?!? Then either you play on the worlds smallest golf course or you’re playing polo. And if as stated above one group is some how playing twice as slow as the rest of the course then play through. It should open right up once you get past them. We’ve all played through or have been played through at some point. What’s the big deal. But my pace of play shouldn’t be effected by someone who has a longer logistical drive to the course than I do.( again that was stated above) a persons choice of residence cannot be factored into pace of play concerns, sorry. I mean yea that sucks if you have a 45 min to an hour drive to and from the course but that’s not anyone’s fault. What hasnt been dicussed is course design. Links style course will generally take longer than your typical square muni. But your typical square muni will generally end up stacking groups up at tee boxes due to the back and forth nature of the course layout. i don’t know if I still have one laying around but my “home course” is a links style course that used to have the minutes per hole listed. Like Hole 1= 7 min after Hole 2 you should have 15 min total playing time and so on. Even the scorecard put you at 4hrs 15 min.
  22. So do you only pick out what you want to see to argue? I literally said it could be a quantity of available golf courses like 3 posts ago. I agree if you’re in a area that doesn’t have many courses or has a heavy population then it’s going to be an issue. But that isn’t a pace of play issue. If you have a stacked course full of foursomes then your pace of play arguement has no bearing unless everyone is a low index golfer. Your group may be a scratch group but if the guys infront of you are all 20 cappers they may still be playing as fast as they can. We are mixing pace of play and quantity in the same discussion and that’s not apples to apples. Just like the guy that just posted 4 1/2 hours was too long for a round. His example wasn’t a pace of play issue. It was an available course issue.
  23. So golf was more popular since 03 Han when tiger put it on the map in pretty much every household? I will assume you are much older than I am by all of your credentials you list. So we can agree on what tournaments used to look like pre 97/ 98. The sponsoring companies became bigger/ even younger fan based focused brands( I hope I’m not being too absolute saying Nike/ UA/ Adidas/ Monster/ Puma/ RedBull are focused on the younger crowd. Even Travis Mathew) Pre 97/98 golf was considered an old mans sport. Not saying that is true but as some say perception is reality. And you gave an example of what I agreed with on the slow groups so thanks for trying to make your point off the point I already conceded. There will always be the slow group here and there. Never said I played slow but I’m also not playing cart polo or hitting my ball as soon as yours leaves the club face.
  24. Golf has never been as popular as it has been post 1997. Remove the very few markets of 6 hour rounds and the game doesn’t have an issue. It’s not a pace of play issue it’s “pack the course for money” issue, when the course is setting tee times 7 mins apart and expecting every level of golfer to stick that. Maybe it’s even a quantity of courses issue for a given population. Yes your gonna find a slow group here or there. What’s it to you I don’t feel there is a pace of play issue? You obviously feel like there is that’s fine. I’m just sayin enjoy life a little.
