  1. Big news, US Open offers exemptions to top LIV players, golf is coming back together again 👍
  2. I do this frequently, it works, even though people joke about it and see it as odd when it's an 18 capper doing it.
  3. AI has weighted in on the issue:
  4. Very fair, I can also have a tendency to think that way, and it's struck me too that it's maybe a generational thing. I don't necessarily think things will end up worse, and I also think LIV have some interesting ideas while the PGA were too old fashioned. All that said , I think getting there is going to involve several lost years for the sport, and I get the dismay some are expressing.
  5. Looks like the momentum is behind Liv again, maybe soon golf will unite behind it and we'll have something interesting outside of the majors again 👍
  6. The more time goes by, the more I think that Tiger simply brought a new dimension to the game (the fitness), which was time limited in its impact, and he did well to get as many as 14 in that time. Yes, he's obviously a good golfer too, but I don't see him adding another in his late 40s/50s like Phil and Jack did.
  7. He was one shot behind two players that had never won a major going into the last day, and also players he is comfortably better than - his ability combined with his opponents lack of major winning experience meant he had a great opportunity and was for sure the favourite. I think if he was present, this would have finally been number 5, but unfortunately for him I think his head has been elsewhere.
  8. Well done Clark! Very fine margins for Rory yet again. Unfortunately I think that Rory's distractions off the course in the last couple of years may have been the difference here ...
  9. I see you say similar things about many posts that you disagree with, but if you were right about that, it would be self evident and not require you to point it out.
  10. I'm devastated by that, but OK, I'll elaborate. Rory contributed significantly to the bitter dispute that has engulfed golf for the past two years. He chose to help Monahan create and deepen the divide in Golf that was necessary for the PGAT to be able to hold out for better terms - without that, the dispute could have been over in 3 months or less. He did this, I suspect, as an opportunistic way to boost his own brand, evidence of which I can see here on this forum. As I say, he's had his payment in full.
  11. Stabbed in the back is one way of putting it, but I'd say played is more accurate , as this covers the entire episode. From what I can see, the PGA Tour have played their members and their fans from the get-go to boost their leverage, and it's been the most successful plank to their strategy. This was always a commercial dispute between the Saudis and the other guys who were happy to take Saudi money but still wanted to run the show. Rather like FIFA/UEFA, they managed to convince people that it was some sort of moral fight between good and evil. I think a lot of people, good people perhaps like yourself, bought into this, and thought this was an important moral choice they could make to make the world better - I don't really agree with this for reasons I've posted before on this thread, but I share your sentiment for these folks, as wanting to make the world a better place is clearly a good motivation. However, some people, including those players, I suspect knew exactly what was going here and chose to make the stand they did for purposes of grandstanding. I do not feel sorry for Rory - he has had his payment in full, and will only benefit from his decision to bolster his reputation by dragging the sport through the mud for two years.
  12. Nobody is perfect, and I take your point. However, they are not without merit either, and their work will improve golf for a long time to come.
  13. What a day! the PGA finally sees sense and lays down their arms, and at last we can look forward to seeing all the best players play together again. Credit to Greg, Phil etc for resolve in and willingness to fight for something better in the face of such opposition.

    Glute Problems

Sorry for the late response - I appreciate the response. Will try to continue the stretching. Had a great round today, and need to remember how much I enjoy playing my best golf to motivate me 🙂 Swing issues? possibly, I maybe need to prioritise looking into that the next time I go for a lesson
  15. Have a look at the president's cup thread, it is around half the international team at least. Majors, probably less than half as of now but there'll be more in the interim. It's no longer just Phil, Sergio etc, but recent major champions (8 of the last 19 major championship wins have come from LIV golfers), good talents like Niemann and Wolff, and solid mid rankers who'd typically make it there like Gooch and so on
  16. Thanks, but it's not "pro Liv" , just pro seeing the best tournaments have the best players. For a major to be relevant, at least to most people, it needs to have the best players. One or two missing due to injury is OK, a third or a half is not. Similar for these team events. I just don't see how it's in the golf fan's interest to exclude these players.
  17. That's but probably wishful thinking , but even if true, what about the interim and the period thereafter ? Do we just accept that Majors will be missing half the players , international team competitions being reduced to meaningless exhibition games and the ranking system being discredited? It's this sort of thinking that is threatening to ruin golf for years if not decades.
  18. The field isn't too appealing, unfortunately. Not a big deal for me as It's not an event I pay too much attention to anyway , but what worries me is that if majors start to look like this (adding in the handful of good Europeans on the PGAT), it's going to kill them.
  19. Interesting, but I thing with Perez is that he's made that money due to being in the Four Aces, who have completely cleaned up in the team competition - he's being carried (obviously not literally) by DJ and to an extent Gooch - his own results have been poor and I think he's probably finished now as a golfer. He's just been very lucky to have jumped to LIV early when the money for his sort of caliber was so good. He's definitely not the only one in that category, but more lately those types have been the exception rather than the rule, with LIV trying for players like Niemann, Smith etc whose best days are ahead of them.
  20. Interesting - I wonder if the courses on the regular tour events are just too soft at the moment? I didn't watch the PGA event last weekend, but the rough certainly looked challenging at Boston(Liv). In this respect, I think LIV events are perhaps a bit more like the US Open , where par is considered a good score, as opposed to the PGA which maybe felt the need to live up their "live under par" slogan.
  21. This all makes sense, I'm referring to fans as a group, but there is indeed an assumption in there that a majority would enjoy this (caddie interaction). I guess it's something they would have to figure out.
  22. Well I think we're getting a bit off topic there, Kevin. The point I'm making is that providing the "best golf" is not a bar to the PGA Tour doing other things they think in their interests. I mean, the latest tournament was won courtesy of a three putt from three feet and the PGA Tour were happily promoting this to me on social media.
  23. It sounds like you might have a bit too much time on your hands 🙃
  24. I have one problem in Golf, other than a rubbish swing, and that is glute issues. Foe (probably) lifestyle issues I have tight left glutes and hamstrings, and is prone to easily getting injured when I play golf - the result is always the same - destructive hooks with driver or fairways instead of the more predictable fade/slice. Tried strengthening last off season with no improvement and more recently stretching with good results and a couple of months of good golf. Until last weekend, when the weather was cold and the same problem rears its head. Anybody else battled this problem and got the better of it? With autumn approaching, I worry my good golf will be gone for another 8-9 months.
  25. They are no longer playing their "best golf" anyway (as a group) because many of the good players have left, so I don't think this small worry has to stop things. Provide what the fans want, or the competition will do it.
