  1. My preshot routine, if you want to call it that, starts when I start walking to my ball. By the time I get there, if I can see the lie, I already know what I'm going to hit. I stand my bag, grab a club, adress the ball, and take 1 slow practice swing visualizing the shot. Then, lock and fire.
  2. While not good for your golf game, hitting a pw 185 is definately cool.
  3. I have 12 in my bag right now, but may add as needed.
  4. That's where the wife and I almost got divorced. When I told her that (unnamed female) could do it and her bewbies are huge, I thought there was going to be child support and alimony in my near future!
  5. I was having the same problem. I was driving 240-250 straight down the pipe, and duffing irons all over the place. I went back to fundamentals... grip, posture, ball placement, weight shift, etc. With me, it came down to setting up correctly, slowing my swing down a little, and letting the club do the work. I went from shooting high 90's to high 80's in a very short time. Also, I hit balls with my lob wedge (full swing) in my yard every day that I'm not playing or at the range. Now that my irons are acting right, I'm going to practice pitching, chipping, and putting like a madman!
  6. I write lefty, and I'm left-eye dominant. I could switch-hit back in my baseball days, but was always better from the right. I've never tried to swing a club lefty, but I often putt left handed with the back of my putter. Maybe I should give some lefty clubs a try.
  7. "I told you so" is actually worse than saying nothing. However, saying "keep your arm straight" will get you kicked out of the cart. Ask me how I know .
  8. She should have listened and pretended to be interested. Or... wait, that standard only applies in one direction. Hilarious video, btw.
  9. Presidents are held to a different standard than Joe Public. The article stated that Obama has played 24 rounds of golf since taking office. That's less than once per week, and I personally don't have a problem with it. His politics, on the other hand....
  10. Does she still play?
  11. You just described my wife's foray into golf. Now I have to play with her once a week when the weather's nice.
  12. Find a girlfriend who already knows how to play.
  13. I practice ALOT on the course because I hate practicing at the chipping/putting green and banging away at balls on the driving range. However, if I'm keeping score, I play the shot that gives me the best chance of going low... in my case, "going low" means mid to low 80's.
  14. I play the SZ's, and love them! I've never hit any of cobra's woods, but I'd definately like to, given the performance of my irons.
  15. This is why I love my membership. If play is slow on one side, I go to the other. If I need to skip 2 holes and come back to them I can. Local custom here is to play wherever you want AS LONG AS YOU DON'T CUT ANYONE OFF.
  16. Too true... I've gone 84, 98 on consecutive days.
  17. Based on this, I may have to get a real handicap... I just guessed at mine. I uusually shoot high 80's, low 90's, with an 83, a couple of 84's and 85's thrown in there for good measure. Then again, I even those out with an occasional 97-98 also, depending on my putter.
  18. I play the club which allows me the best opportunity to hit a good shot from a given distance.
  19. I'm guessing it's a mental issue. You've proven to yourself that you're capable of making shots with the 43 on the front. It sounds like you let a bad shot get into your head and began to overcompensate and tried to hero everything after that.
  20. Interlock, both thumbs facing down shaft, and right index finger pionting down the shaft. I also choke down on my 35" putter about 1". I should probably go get a putter that fits me, but I've had this one for about 15 yrs and I've gotten a bit attached to it.
  21. The big dog gets more golfers into trouble than every other club combined. Most people should leave the big dog on the porch.
  22. This summer when the days were long, I hit a bag of balls and played 9 holes 3 days/week, then 18 every saturday and sometimes 18 on sunday. That was almost enough, but not quite. My daughter was always with me through the week, so I used those rounds for practice and kept score on my weekend rounds.
  23. With certain guys I gamble for small stakes. Nothing formal, sometimes we play skins, sometimes someone just calls out "5 bucks closest to the pin", or "5 says you can't sink that putt". Pressure makes me play better, so my friends are always teasing me about sandbagging them to raise the stakes.
  24. Never have. It seems like it would just ruin the flow of the course for me. I like to hear the birds, the bugs, the wind, and the occasional splash of someone else's ball into the lake.
  25. The only losers on the golf course are the guys who are rude, disrespectful, and destructive. Not keeping pace makes you disrespectful to other golfers. Anyone who plays for enjoyment, keeps pace, repairs divots and ball marks, and throws away their trash should be able to go enjoy a round of golf with their buddies and not have to worry what others think.
