They have some as "low" as 1.5 million. Financed at 7%, that's about 10 grand a month for the mortgage payment, I'm sure she could swing that. I'm not sure about the LPGA, but she could come in 36th place in the lowest PGA tournament and get that much.

I remember seeing that site listed on these forums somewhere. They would ship the club to you, let you try it and then if you decided to buy it you could take the rental price off the cost. Do a search for rental demo club or something like that, I can't remember.

Golfsmith and my Golf teacher disagree on my Length and lie
Smarf replied to jamvr10's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
I know I'm not an expert player, but I would tend to trust the golf pro for two reasons: 1) He's not biased and trying to sell you something. For all you know, you could have been "fitted" at +1/2 inch because they had one set left they were trying to sell. 2) A golf swing seems to be individualized to each person, even if they do try to copy a certain tour pro. It's possible that the +1/2 inch would work for every other 6 foot 3 person, but something about you is different. Both of these two people want to sell you something. One a set of clubs that doesn't care how you swing or play. The other is selling his reputation for teaching you, and cares about your swing and how you play. Which one should you trust? -
My most embarassing round was this last week. I went to a local golf club on a weekday off, and as a single on a suprisingly busy Friday morning, I got paired with another single. I'm usually shy at first but the guy was nice and we were about the same skill level, so no pressure there really. The problem came on around the 5th or 6th hole. I've lost a lot of weight recently and haven't replaced all my clothes yet, so my pants are usually struggling to stay up with the belt cinched tight. Well they slid down slightly with the inseam hanging around my knees, and as I got back into the cart I heard a loud RIPPPPPPPPPPPPP. Tore the entire ass and crotch out. I untucked my shirt and finished up. Thankfully my partner was only playing 9 holes, so I swung by the parking lot and had a spare pair of jeans in the back that I put on to finish out the back 9. So friggin' embarassing.

It's a great feeling to set goals and meet them. I'm around your level and finally shot my best round this past Monday of 93. That was with a 44 on the front nine, I would have done great if I hadn't got nervous with 2 groups backed up behind me when I started the back nine, shot an 8 on the first hole. Just on a sidenote, because it may help you. This record round was my first time playing with a GPS. I use a free app for my Blackberry phone called BBGPS Golf, which also records your distances for each club and averages them out. Previously I went out to a par 3 and hit every iron possible to get some distances stored for my real round. It worked amazing. It was so nice seeing a distance for my drives, and knowing with confidence which iron to grab.

I'm all for gadgets and stuff, and I love hitting on the simulators at Golf Galaxy but I can't imagine paying 45 bucks to play a virtual Pebble Beach. I can hit a decent local course for that much twice. The golf league sounds like it would be fun though, especially since we don't have one in the area.

I think it would be interesting to just see him use a crappy set like I have to see their full potential. Right now I may think my driver will not go further than 240, but once Tiger hits it 300+, I'd know it was the archer and not the arrow. They should hold charity raffles where you can win a chance to play with a pro on your local/favorite course and they share your clubs.

Not a joke really. If they paid me 90 million dollars a year they could tattoo a swoosh on my "shag bag".

Did anyone else catch the announcer getting some tongue? There was a sloppy noise, he said "What are you doing here?" and she said something like "I saw you and just wanted to give you a kiss." Not sure who it was, but they were going to Feherty a lot during that time.

Your instructor must read Golf Digest, I just saw an article describing this drill. I can't remember who the pro was they were talking about though.

I've checked it out from the library a few times. I like the quality of the pictures, because most of them have hand-drawn illustrations and I hate that. There aren't too many golf books that I'd like to own, except the for the Feinstein behind-the-scenes type books. Most of them read like snippets from Golf Digest articles, so I'd rather flip through it in a Barnes & Noble or check it out from the library.

This could be fun, so far I like Footwedge the best: Mathmagicians The Erasers Put Me Down for Par Re-Re-Mulligans

You're not wrong. The above website is registered to a "McRedmond Morelli" through godaddy. Troll or the world's biggest coincidence? You decide. I hate trolls, especially the really obvious ones.

My wife is from Wisconsin, Wausau in the central part of the state, and one of her main reasons for moving down here to NC was the weather. Even though I've lived here all my life, I'm usually the one complaining about the 100º heat. Here usual response is "You don't have to shovel heat off the driveway and roof every 15 minutes."

Do my scores indicate anything to you guys?
Smarf replied to Orange's topic in Instruction and Playing Tips
You'd get more information if you kept track of various stats. Download the trial of Scorecard and follow his instructions of what to keep track of in a round. It takes two extra seconds to write down a few things, but it can tell you tons about your game. FIR: Fairways in Regulation: Basically did your tee shot stay in or go OB. I also put a little arrow with a direction so I know if I'm always slicing it right etc. I also write W for water or OB for out of bounds so that I know the amount of penalty strokes I had. GIR: Greens in Regulation: This means you made it on the green with a chance at birdie with your putt. If you have a high number of these but are still making double and triple bogey then your putting is the problem. U/D: Up and Downs: This is tough to gauge but I basically mark a check if chipped on the green and then sank my putt. I put an S if I was in the sand. X means I either didn't get out of the obstacle the first time or I two putted afterwards. Either way, I know I need to work on the short stuff around the green. Without these sort of things, score tells you nothing. You could be a scratch golfer that blew up on one hole and knocked a ball in the water 5 times. That also reminds me that score means nothing if you don't keep track of it properly. If you take a drop where you lost your ball in the rough but don't count it as a penalty, it's not accurate. -
At what distance to you begin to "expect" to make putts?
Smarf replied to svchiefs19's topic in Instruction and Playing Tips
Expect means no such thing. It simply means what you think or hope will happen. I play all my putts expecting them to go in, even so far as visualizing how it will fall. I also plan for the miss too so that it doesn't go too far if it lips out or misses the hole. I do the same thing in pool. Even though I don't make every shot I aim at, I expect all of them to go in. You don't have to be able to guarantee a shot will go in just to expect it too. That makes no sense. I think a better question would have been, "At what distance will you make 90% of your putts are better?" I don't make 90% of my 40 footers but I expect them to fall. -
I try to get in 18 holes every Saturday, or if the weekend is tied up for some reason with the wife, I'll leave work early and go during the week. I could probably get in more if our local area had a golf league, but there isn't one.

I just wanted to ask a question. If a left handed golfer, like the OP, hits it left isn't that a slice? Or do just always call a shot to the left a push? It seems like that would be confusing because a slice would be fixed differently.

Flirting with the windmill.

I was thinking about getting into this show. I haven't had anything to watch with Lost and Heroes off, Battlestar Galactica over and Sopranos/Deadwood gone. I was under the impression it was a romantic thing though, or am I mistaken?

golf galaxy vs. Golfsmith vs. sporting goods
Smarf replied to clearwaterms's topic in The Grill Room
I just wanted to throw out a suggestion. Sometimes I see people on craigslist selling gift certificates for a few dollars cheaper than they're worth. They've usually won them in a tournament and would rather have the cash. If you're not sure you can trust them, you can always meet them at the store and have them buy what you want. -
I'm not sure what kind of music you like to listen too or play but one of the best things accessories I ever bought for my guitar was a Line 6 Guitar Port for $89.00. It's basically a little pedal sized device you hook up to your computer. It has a built in tuner, a monthly subscription to lessons, tabs, and tones from favorite artists etc. The subscription isn't required, but it's fairly cheap like 5 - 10 bucks a month. It''ll save you money on an amp and if you're like me, I usually play at the computer anyway so I can look up tablatures quickly.

I was going to get their Spanish software until I realized it was 200-300 bucks. The only software I'd pay that much for would have to do with women and holograms.

Are these the little tiny sugar ants or big ones like red/fire or black/army? If it's the little sugar ones, the best stuff I found is: Terro liquid. You can get the prefilled baits or just a bottle of the stuff and put it in bottle caps. They come get it, take it back to the nest and it kills all of them. You just have to make sure not to kill any you see because they're each little walking poison assassins. PS: Clean up your room, you probably have a food source in there somewhere.

I agree. I've yet to play a course that didn't have those free plastic ball markers and divot tools right beside the score cards and pencils. Even our little Par 3 course has those.
