In case anyone was interested in watching the segment. Pretty awesome golfing ability, to be able to hit a pure driving while running at the ball.

Most people try to hit their 9 iron around 110 yards, not too far, so they take a controlled smooth swing, like they should. Then you hand them a 3 iron, and they start thinking "well, i have to hit this 190 yards now." So what do they do? They make a violent, uncontrolled, 150% swing. This is not the way, do not try to swing your yardage. Make some smooth swings with your short and mid irons, just focusing on contact, then do the same with the long irons, 75% power, get a good feel for them. When you do try to take a full swing, don't over do it, just make the same swing as you would with a 9.

What bothered me, is how players were trying to putt on the adjacent holes, in mid stroke, and the 17 crowd would scream at the top of there lungs out of nowhere. Granted this always happens whenever someone has a great shot (usually a smaller gallery), but this was after every single shot made on that hole...

If you give him a 5 putt, he put 30 balls into the water at TPC 17, lol

The main benefit of golf shoes is keeping your feet stable while you swing. If you're on a slope, or the grass is wet, you can see the right foot slip out from under someone as they swing hard without golf shoes. I do have a friend who enjoys playing in old sandals or barefoot... He's got a very smooth swing though.

I shot a 99 today, in the rain. It was a good round for me though, because I started with a 51, on the front where I usually break 50. Normally this would sour my mood, since I have only scored below 50 on the back once, and i normally get upset when shooting triple digits. This time, I worked on enjoying myself, and had a few very good shots to get some clutch pars and bogeys. Ended up with a 48 on the back, and kept the round below 100.

Thanks. I'll probably pick this up within the month.

I just read through this article, and is JD's diet is as bad as this article makes it out to be, I'm surprised he shot 88 and not 100!!! He got the gastro/rubber band surgery, and instead of eating well and getting enough protein to keep his muscle during rapid weight loss, he's doing it wrong. (If true) what JD is doing is eating 600-1200 calories a day, drinking (which slows metabolism and muscle growth/preservation down), and barely sleeping, his body is messed up. Under these circumastances, you start losing muscle, and your body can't recover properly from shock (playing 6 tourneys in a row). He's down to 210 lbs, and still has a high body fat %, which means he's lost a good deal of lean muscle weight, which will effect his golf swing. I think this 88 is a slap in the face for him to start managing his weight loss properly, as opposed to him abusing his newfound stomach limitation. /rant

Not being facetious or rhetorical. I'm sure there might be some obscurity unnoticed, but in term of the general observed rules that most people break (mulligans, drops, free drop no closer to the hole, etc.), I attempt to play correctly. There are some rules I will be lax about for myself. If I address the ball and accidentally slightly touch it, millimeters of movement, I will not count it as a stroke, I would keep getting set and then swing. Is this against the rules?

Is there any sort of synchronizing capabilities between machines, or would I have to enter the same scorecard in both computers?

Quick question on this software, am considering buying. How does licensing work between computers, can I install this on 2 pc's?

I realize he played horribly today, but... Did he struggle and try? I haven't watched any of his round, but on the front 9 he had 2 out of bounds shots, and 2 four putts... We all know how putting is a mental game, and if he struggled but was trying, I have no beef... If he was standing there putting with one hand, while smoking a cig, I get your point... Never heard of rule 88 till now.

Holy moly, that's one hell of a back 9. 5 birds, and eagle, and one bogey (coming from a 70 foot putt). Seems like Tiger is in full assault mode!

I've been getting used to practicing in bad weather, otherwise I wouldn't be playing much this year. I've probably had 4 rain rounds, 8 wet rounds, and 4 wind rounds. I've been able to play well in the wet, but the rain or wind usually puts me into the triple digits...
-
I've only had 2 birdies this year. One was a bump and run into the hole from 40 feet, the other was a 35 foot putt that would have run off the green if the hole hadn't gotten in the way. For me, a par feels like a birdie ;)

If Tiger can get one part of his game working (irons, short game, or putting) he'll be fine. Yesterday, the only thing going for him was the driver, and that's not enough to get it done. He's played better with worse driving before.

I was pulling for Goose the whole tournament. It's a shame to see him lose the playoff, especially with the eagle he had on 18 to get in... For someone who's so cool and relaxed under pressure, he does seem to push some pretty important putts to the right...

New driver shaft = massive slice
ArrrrJay replied to ArrrrJay's topic in Instruction and Playing Tips
It's definitely going to be a matter of practice, it's difficult for me, because instead of the open clubface being from a weak grip, or something simple, it's more about swinging to fast, and not releasing correctly, so the shaft still feels loaded, and behind the hands too much. I am feeling the same thing too. My last driver, the extra stiff, if you didn't swing hard, the head would kick forward early, and I'd get a pull, or pull hook. Now, I need to do the opposite, and keep my tempo slow and smooth until I can figure out the timing for releasing the club while swinging hard. Thanks for the pointers, although I'm probably missing a lot of whats going on, I at least have an idea of what to work on. -
Although my home courses front 9 is longer than the back, I always score 5 strokes better on it. The back 9 seems to penalize a poor tee shot or approach more than the front.

New driver shaft = massive slice
ArrrrJay replied to ArrrrJay's topic in Instruction and Playing Tips
Went to the dome today (raining) and had a bit more success with the driver. I was able to tame the slice into a fade, and actually hit a couple draws and hooks. Mostly, I was working on tempo, swinging slower, and clearing my hips. Still am not sure what adjustments would be made to compensate for going from a stiffer shaft, to a less stiff. Anyone go through this before? -
Your 200 yards from the pin....
ArrrrJay replied to kleraudio's topic in Instruction and Playing Tips
Same here. A 5-wood might be a bit long, and I am much more likely to miss the green. I seem to hit a 7-wood straighter, and can hit it a bit harder for a few more yards, without mis-hitting. -
So I've never been very good at driving the ball. My original driver setup was a J33r 10.5* on a Grafalloy prototype bi-matrix shaft. This shaft was very stiff with a steel tip. This shaft was designed to help keep low trajectory, but for me, it helped straighten out the club head at the end of my swing, so I would hit some straight, some fades, some draws. About 30% of the time, I would mis hit, and my brother thought this shaft was not a good fit for me, so we decided to try a different shaft. We set up the J33r head with a Snake Eyes Proforce XT shaft, and now I can't hit the ball straight to save my life. Massive high slices are the norm. The last time I was out, I tried every setup bandage I could use, closed stance, closed shoulders, closed face. The best I could get was a low slice. I am not sure how to use this club anymore, and understand there's not much advice anyone can give without a swing video, I have no video camera. Has anyone else experienced this type of issue when changing driver shafts to a less stiff, more progressive (no steel tip dual stiffness) shaft?

I am nervous through the first hole usually. Poor tee shot and second shot result, and then I start to calm down. I figure eventually I won't have this issue anymore...
