  1. I have also been using a 3 wood off the tee because I have no control with a driver yet. I have a Cleveland HiBore XLS 15* with a stiff shaft. I average somewhere around 220-230, but I can get it to 240-250 if I really crack it. Personally, I think this is plenty of distance right now and I'm in no rush to get my driver swing down, although it will be nice to add some distance when I do.
  2. He's right, soccer is for pansies. All those European guys take dives every time any defender comes near them (especially the Italians, and Cristiano Ronaldo does it, too, except when he knows he'll get away and score) Some of the hooligans may act in an intense, violent manner, but this doesn't legitimize the rivalry on the field. American football players take a beating every down, and put their bodies on the line for their team. It's the ultimate team game, and its also very tactical. I think fans here in the US appreciate this more, whereas we see soccer players falling down crying only to magically stand up and appear completely healed after a minute on the ground and a quick spray of that "magic" spray stuff. It's just not very appealing in our culture.
  3. My index is 14.9 but is on the way down in a week or two at the next revision, so i'm going to say I want to be at 12.0 or lower by the fall. I'd also like to have a round with no 3 putts and a round with 2 (or more) birdies.
  4. There's a great selection of courses in the greater Baltimore area (mostly in Baltimore County, 15-30 minutes north of the city). My home course is a 73.5/131 from the tips and it is average for the area. The East course at Baltimore Country Club was somewhere in the 80's in Golf Magazine's latest top 100 poll in the U.S. (74.6/137, 7037 yd par 70) and was designed by A.W. Tillinghast. There is also a private course called Caves Valley that is 74.0/138. In terms of public courses, one called Greystone was ranked #26 out of Golfweek Magazine's top 50 municipal courses, which is a 6925 yd par 72 with a rating of 73.5/139.
  5. Boo Weekley. Also root for a bunch of other guys like Tiger, Kenny Perry, David Toms, Bubba Watson, Phil, etc. If i could emulate one guy's swing, though, it would be Adam Scott's.
  6. Played yesterday and hit the ball very well overall, but putted like crap and posted an 88. Had 5 three-putts, just miserable. My stroke was a little bit off, and I also did not do a great job of reading the greens. 88 was the worst possible score I could have shot for the way I hit the ball. It is rounds like this that proves that the best way to improve your score is to improve your putting. Worked on putting for a good 2 hours today, and hopefully it shows when I play this week.
  7. Just my 2 cents, i would suggest slowing down on the backswing, and perhaps even pausing for a brief moment at the top. This allows you to gather yourself and store lots of power in your shoulders and hips. Also, it makes it easier to concentrate on accelerating through the ball. To me, it looks like your swing is all the same speed start to finish, rather than accelerating on the downswing. This is just a minor change though, your swing looks good overall.
  8. www.hayfieldscc.com 73.5/131 from the tips.
  9. I am a huge Boo Weekley fan. I also like John Daly and have been rooting for him hard in his comeback. Also, Kenny Perry, David Toms, and Bubba Watson are other guys I root for.
  10. Although I like both Furyk and Perry, I have to agree there. Personally, I like to watch Adam Scott's swing. Much like Tiger's but i feel Scott's is more smooth. Also, love Boo Weekley's swing.
  11. Baltimore Country Club (East Course). Designed by A.W. Tillinghast and consistently in Golf Magazine's Top 100 Courses in the U.S.
