  1. im very familiar with the baseball sound. Thank you, i figured it was like that but i just wanted to be sure, if i ever hit a good iron shot, now ill know lol
  2. Anyone know of a video that demonstrates this sound?
  3. I got a dozen of mixed "refurbished" Nike balls from target for $10. Considering i never played on a course before i figured this is a great deal and it can give me a chance to see what the different Nike balls are like. Some say Distance, some say Soft, some say nothing but i like them and i don't care what anyone says about a pack of $10 balls. Don't let your friend discourage you, let him motivate you and beat the hell out of him next time you play, then ask if he wants to try one of your balls, im sure he would love that haha.

Sorry, i should have said... you MAY be able to make it pro, even if you started later in life... That being said, there is no reason someone can't pick up the game in their 20's and still make a career out of it as long as they have the talent.

Just reading golf.com and came across this article about how Yang will be paired with Tiger tomorrow and they said... "Yang certainly didn't take the easy road to the sport's biggest stage. He didn't even start swinging a golf club until a friend brought him to the driving range at age 19. Even when the bug hit him, he had to fulfill a military commitment, spending 18 months as a guard at the South Korean Naval port. He turned professional in 1996 at age 24, but didn't qualify for the PGA Tour until 2007." Just goes to show you that anything is possible, I guess if you work hard enough you can make it pro, even if you start later in life...
  6. Yes i have been going to the range on and off for about 8 years so, with some guidance from my uncle i guess i came out with a decent swing. haha yeah i only lost one ball, but i found 3 so i came out on top! Thank you guys for all the kind words! The first thing i noticed when i signed up for this site was how nice everyone was and it still reigns true. Everyone on here is great and i appreciate the support, it makes me want to be the best golfer i can be! Thanks again
  7. Nice 14 bucks isn't bad. Yeah i lucked out, but im going to be moving back to NY in december so i guess i need to take advantage of the opportunity while i can. Fortunately ill be able to play into december down here because it really doesn't get too cold to play. It doesn't compare to the fierce NY winters im used to.
  8. Haha yeah! It's only about 5 minutes from my house. It's on the Winthrop University athletics campus so i guess thats why it's so cheep. Even so, the course is in good shape and it's surprisingly clean given that it's on a college campus. One of the best things though is that there are never many people there and the guy working the course told me that is pretty much the norm. Ill be going there quite often
  9. Played 9 today, first time ever on a course and shot 50 on a par 35... not too bad considering i had never played on a course before. im pretty happy with that.
  10. Finally! today i went out onto the course for the first time ever and played 9 holes. The course i went to is a 9 hole public for $10 and you can play all day if you want. It was a HOT and sunny day in SC today so i could only play 9 or else i may have passed out. The course is a par 35 2597 yards and i shot a 50. Overall i feel like i didn't play all that bad considering that it was my first time and that i went out by myself so i didn't have much guidance. The first hole is a 454 yard par 5 and i hit a beauty with my driver about 250 yards down the fairway and as im walking to my ball im like, ha this isn't that hard...little did i know i ended up shooting a 9 on that hole hahah. One this is for sure, i now have a new found appreciation for the game, it has humbled me and watching the PGA Championship i find myself saying "wow" on every shot that doesn't get hit into water or the woods haha. Anyway, i can't wait to get back out there and play some more, now that i have been out once i know what i need to do to shoot lower next time!
  11. What is the PGM program?
  12. Cool story, its funny how one shot can change your whole day! Gotta love it
  13. So i know some people have to wear sunglasses when they play and some cant so for those who do wear them, check this out. It's a site called http://oksunglases.com they claim to sell Oakley sunglasses but for some reason every pair(152) on the site are all priced at $46.98. So i was a little suspicious and e-mailed the site asking if the glasses were real and how they were able to sell them so low. I got a reply from china saying that they are indeed real and they sell them so cheep because they are "cleaning the stock" he also insists that the lenses are polarized and the come with the case, and cleaning material. Believe it or not, i think this site may actually advertise on this forum but i could be mistaken. Anyway, if anyone has bought a pair of sunglasses from this site before let me know if they are any good, and if you haven't let me know if you think they are real. Personally i think they are just as good of a deal as the $212 iron sets from the chinese golf sites haha
  14. Glad i came across this, i have been emailing a chinese site that sells oakley sunglasses for $46. i asked if they were real and he said yes because they are clearing stock. i was going to buy them thinking i was going to get a deal! haha
  15. Looks nice, i would never know you got it at walmart. target has some nice Taylor made and nike bags for around the same price, if there is one in your area i suggest checking it out before buying that one.
  16. This is awesome, Thanks for the info!
  17. i agree with everyone, don't be worried. As long as your respectful of everyone on the course you will have a great time im sure!
  18. Hahaha out of about an hour or so I made about 5. Although I managed to loose 2 balls over the fence.
  19. Visiting my family back in the Bronx NY and my grandmother has a small back yard so i thought i would take advantage of it! the par 1 (pin/bucket is orange) the pin/bucket hit it a few times. the tomato hazard the fans for added pressure
  20. pretty awesome, I cant wait till im able to play a course like that. Probably wont be for a few years but hey, i have something to look forward to.
  21. pretty rad, wish i had one around me!! enjoy it, and let us know how awesome it is this winter.
  22. Im 19 and i would have bounced to make sure i had the best chance at this chick. I think you did the right thing. Nothing beats a little poon tang!

    no glove?

My left hand hurts too much after hitting the range to not use a glove.
  24. Absolutely, Im not currently thinking about getting new clubs, im just curious as to when most people will ditch the starter set and move on to the serious stuff. Ill deff. keep this set for at least this year after i get a good amount of beginner experience under my belt i might start to look around and see what kind of set i want to go with. whenever that time comes, i would be hesitant to throw some serious coin into a new set, i would probably go with a nice used set of irons and get more value for my money. I have a hard time with dropping five bills on a new set of irons when i can spend three on a nice used set. Thanks for all the info guys i appreciate the input!
  25. Hey guys, im new to the game of golf and actually haven't been out on a course yet. I have been going to the range for fun for about 8 years on and off and never really got deep into golfing. I have had some instruction from my uncle who is an avid golfer so my mechanics were actually pretty decent. I have read the little red book and now im reading hogans five lessons and i have to say that applying these things i have learned when at the range has made a huge difference. im hitting straight drives and accurate iron shots as well. Ill be going to my local course soon to start getting some actual course practice. The clubs i have are pretty cheep. Its one of those full sets you can buy from the sports authority or dicks or something like that. To be honest, the clubs are pretty decent, the irons feel solid and strike the ball pretty well, i have a new driver but the 3 and 5 woods are decent clubs as well. Just curious when should you consider upgrading from beginner clubs to a respectable set. I have a problem using junk products weather its golf, baseball, guitars, electronics, clothes, i have a problem using cheep stuff. Just wondering how long you all kept your beginner sets.
