  1. Somewhat, yes. The Tour Burner also has fairly minimal offset and isn't going to help you get the ball in the air as much as the Burner Plus, which has more weight low.
  2. OK, I haven't played ANY of the newer Adams drivers, but I'm intrigued like you guys. I played a Redline RPM years back and loved it. Adams produces a "replica" of the Sadlowski driver, 9032LD with a "House of Forged" (Matrix) shaft. The 9064 is coming out soon, too. Find some images of that baby.
  3. There is a waterproof membrane that covers the lower half of the outside of the shoe. Above that, not waterproof. Definitely would not wear in pouring rain for too long. They are fine for a dewey morning, though.
  4. I have tried many different brands, and for me Ecco and Adidas are the top 2. I just picked up a new pair of Adidas Tour 360 4.0 Sport on Ebay for $62, shipped. They are mostly mesh, which is extremely comfortable on humid days in the Bluegrass. I really like the thinness of the sole as well. You can feel slope on the course even easier. Highly recommend them.
  5. Still haven't made a purchase, but I kind of think of Giga as in between the big boys and "knock-offs". Their designs don't seem too original, but they appear to work with good materials. Check out the strange European TV show spot that featured GigaGolf vs. Callaway. They found their wasn't much difference between the two. Certainly not hundreds of dollars worth.
  6. I use rubbing alcohol on my grips. You don't even need to dry them, the alcohol evaporates. I know there are certain grips that should ONLY be washed with alcohol, but I have done this for several years with a variety of different grips and it does a great job. I believe it keeps the grips from deteriorating as quickly, as well.
  7. $750/year buys you a state park pass in Kentucky, you play ANY state course for cart fee. There are 2 or 3 Trail courses in the top 10 in Kentucky. I've played Valhalla, the #1 rated course, and I seriously would rate 4 of the state courses very closely to it.
  8. Wow. How did this thread go from Phil being a long hitter to people posting inappropriate pics of Camilo? Don't ever, ever use the word "beast" or "monster" to describe a PGA Tour professional. Not Tiger, not anybody. They are in great shape (well, most of them), but are a long way from your average DIII college football strong safety.
  9. I've been very pleased with the Penta TP so far. Give it a try!
  10. I agree that the surgeries have taken a toll on Tiger, but the harder he tries to hit the ball the worse off-line it gets. Short and crooked are going to make 18 majors difficult...
  11. While we're at it, what about Tommy Armour clubs? Everybody has played the 845. One of the most popular irons ever. And now...nothin'. There is a website, but it's very limited.
  12. I think it's humorous that Tiger always talks about how he "can't hit it as far as (he) used to", but Phil is longer than ever.
  13. Don't you? I'm not aware of anything new now for years, at least since Callaway bought 'em. The player's clubs they produced with Ben's signature were just so sweet. Anyone know anything about Hogan equipment? Anything in the pipeline?
  14. Yes, sounds like a little bad behavior all the way around here. There is nothing worse than having to follow a super-slow group all day...except seeing your grandma get cussed out. That stings, too. Especially if grandma packs a .22 in her golf bag...
  15. Found the TaylorMade TP Red at Wal-Mart for $21/dozen...yessir. Prefer it over EVERYTHING else except the Penta...
  16. Just bought a 52* degree a couple of weeks ago. Great club. I like the feel a little better than my CG12 56*. The gel on the back is great. Can't go wrong with Cleveland products, period.
  17. Beau Rials is right. It's the Hammer X with the X-shaft. I believe the MOI is 116,200. I added 127 yards to my drives with it. In fact, I stopped hunting with a scoped rifle and exclusively use the Hammer X. NASA contacted me to request that I stop hitting golf balls in the state of Alabama! Kra-kow! I'm sorry...I saw the infomercial this morning. To me, it is the Citizen Kane of commercials. Jack Hamm is on Facebook, too. Check it out...
  18. I've played Cobra woods and irons over the years, and I believe they are always a great choice for many "regular" golfers. They are forgiving, long, and reasonably priced. I switched to the TaylorMade's because I was flat out skying the FP irons I had. I owned the King Cobra oversize that Greg Norman pushed and thought I was cool, man. Those clubs were GREAT. I have considered going back to them on numerous occasions and rocking the straw hat... It seems that recently, at least where I live, you just don't see Cobra in pro shops as much.
  19. Seems like every year to 18 months I purchase a new driver. I'm always chasing the dream. I do, however, tend NOT to purchase the newest and will go buy something from last season. Always looking for a bargain. Problem is, by the time I put it in play, it's already obsolete! Maybe I'm sabotaging my relationships with the drivers in my life...so I'll have a reason to get something else.
  20. Best example of smash factor: gentleman in my group takes a hellacious rip and...ta da! drives the ball 3 inches STRAIGHT DOWN into the muddy tee box! While he scans the horizon for the ball he just crushed, my pancreas falls out of my mouth because I am laughing so hard! I have seen a driver face cave in (cold weather+failing weld=really cool!) too. 99% of ALL golfers hit it much shorter than they think. And the 1% that hit it longer are old ladies (no offense). I believe that Jack Hamm, Terry Nugent, and Jerry Foltz are the same person.
  21. Thanks nuck81 and jonnythan. I'm going to plead my case with the CEO (wife) for final approval. I'm also considering a 60* wedge. That would be a good for me to ease into this and get an idea for quality without a major investment. Really appreciate the help!
  22. Somerset. You're not going to show up at the driving range with a silenced 9mm, are you? I've already had that happen once... I'm considering the TRX Ion Control iron with Dynamic Gold shafts. My TM's are custom fit, so I know my specs. Comes in handy... Thanks for the replies, keep 'em comin'!
  23. Try washing grips with rubbing alcohol. NEVER use soap and water. The alcohol does a great job of removing sweat and dirt, and dries quickly. My grips stay tacky the entire round after. Soap seems to hasten the breakdown of the grip.
  24. Checked out their web site. Their gear looks pretty legit. Anyone have any experience (positive or negative)? Thanks!
  25. Hadn't hit any of their clubs in a long time. I remember them making some pretty good equipment in the 90's, but they fell off the face of the Earth. Saw the infomercial with Fuzzy pop up last year. Today was our course's day for a visit from the rep. Hit the nitrogen charged Air Force drivers and irons. I have to say, I was impressed. Woods set up quite a bit closed, which was difficult for me because I fight a hook. But, the drivers were at least as long as my Nike and had a GREAT feel. The irons were ridiculously long. At least half club longer than my TM's, and I had trouble hitting them solid because they were stock and I'm used to 1/2" long and 2* upright. It was like you couldn't miss them. High ball flight, quite a bit of offset so they aren't going to be for everyone. VERY forgiving irons. If you or someone you know are looking for quality clubs that are on the affordable side, PowerBilt is worth a look.
