I am in the market for a @$250 set of forged Cavity back or Blended set of irons. I have it narrowed to these three: Titleist 735CM Titleist 690.CB Mizuno MP60 Mizuno MP30 I am a good ball striker. Shafts will be S300 regardless of iron heads Any one with opinions and or experience with any of these sets?

I have a chance at getting the Speedline 9064ls for @ $85. I dont need a new driver, but a great chance at getting a great driver head for cheap (Im a club tinkerer) I was just curious of different peoples thoughts on these 2 set-ups? I've read the BB plays a bit soft if going after, the Proto x is nice and lively for me (a bit stiff at times if Im a little tired (slight push/fade rt). Im thinking of tipping BB S 1/2" to stiffen tip a bit. Im also trying to swing at 75% versus my normal 85-90%. I realize this sounds like a shaft question, both the G10 and 9054ls are great . After re-reading my post it is a bit segmented, but please take from it what you will and comment Please, no comments on how I need to get fitted, or other similar answers! Thank you.

I've been through sharpro, lamkin, gp, karakal, etc etc. I like a firm tacky grip (I dont like wearing a glove and I live in very humid conditions). I just installed performance plus (non-3gen) on all 13 clubs for $29 shipped (I installed). These grips are geat. So far Lamkin grip offerings seem to play firm and allow a relatively light grip pressure through faster swings. I do like GP's 2gen grips but are really slippery if wet (dry they are great)

You ll become a better wedge player by skipping on the 60* and playing a 54* or 56* SW. That club can be closed and opened up for many shots (including the shots you can do with a 60*)

Bridgestone j33 forged cavity back irons?
mc0388 replied to JoshKeller's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
I played J33CB's all last year with RIfle 6.0. They were sweet! They are a little forgiving, but you better be a good ball striker... -
Project X shaft reviews.. anyone please chime in..
mc0388 replied to dbornack's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
I had the PX 5.5 and 6.0. They are noticeably longer than DG's but they feel different, I played with the PX's for an abbreviated time. I like the DG's way better -

I agree drop the 60... -
Hit your normal draw. Tee up the ball a little Higher and drop back your back foot a few inches (like you are widening your stance, only with your back foot)...

+1 The odds of him losing the tournement to someone who shoots 59 has to be something rediculous!!

Whats the fun in joining a forum if all you get is people telling you to go get fitted:) I have the same SS. Your shaft is propbably not stiff enough possibly causing the Hooking. -If you want the ball up you are looking for a low - low/mid kick shaft. -Since different OEM's have differnent criteria for Reg, Stiff, Strong, X Stiff flexes, try visiting some of there websites (Graffaloy, Graphite Design, UST, Aldila, Fujikura), they all have some sort of online fitting Although shaft flex isnt the only thing that can cause a hook, its a good place to start. My favorite shafts with that SS (listed in order): Graphite Design Pershing 65 X (very inexpensive and still by far my favorite) Fuji Xcom TW74 X USt V2 6060 X Prolaunch Axis Blue (never tried in X, but stiff was def high launch) Aldila NVS These shafts are excellent bargain shafts (

Shaft Suggestions (Fitting Data included)
mc0388 replied to Liam84's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
Ive never hit the Xcon 6. The specs say it is a high launch shaft which goes against what you prefer. A website I recently visited (cant remember where) showed the matix shafts against many of the most popular shafts and was at the top of most categories (ie ball speed, dispersion, etc). Supposedly a very solid performing shaft. Visit diff. manufactures websites. Most of them have an easy graph or on-line fitting system that can narrow down different models and stiffness. Best to hit them first, but sometimes you cant. -
help with swing that's gone too far inside-out

Try standing closer to the ball -
Shaft Suggestions (Fitting Data included)
mc0388 replied to Liam84's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
The 6060 S should fit a 101-104 SS nicely. It should leave a little room if you wanted to go after one, and the lower torque should keep dispersion nice and tight. Im 6'2" 220lbs and swing 112-116, I like the heavier shafts early in a round, but as the round matures and I tire a bit, the heavier shaft starts getting out of control. Ive figured a 60-70g shaft in most X flexes suit me just fine. Currently changing my Zcom TW74 to a GD Pershing 65X, it should be perfect. I believe the 7070 in a stiff will play noticeably stiffer than a 6060 stiff. With the added weight it will probably feel like a completely different shaft. -
I think a shim would make me feel better, accompanied by a collared ferrule. Thanks for the hlp

Shaft Suggestions (Fitting Data included)
mc0388 replied to Liam84's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
The V2 is a great shaft, but 7070 in a stiff is mighty heavy for a 98mph swing? Possibly the 6060? Whats wrong with the VS Proto, its an awesome shaft, one of my favorites. Other possible shafts (All these can be purchased new for -
Im familiar with Shims but not the shaft beads. Comparatively, which is better?

I recently purchased a used Ping G10 Driver at Edwin Watts. I pulled the aftermarket shaft that was installed in the head and am trying to install a GD Pershing with a .350 tip. My understanding is the G10 is a .350 dia. I prepped the tip of the GD and inserted it in the G10 head (my tip prep just took off the paint, I didnt go crazy with it). It is noticeably loose? Am missing something here? When I pulled the 1st shaft I noticed a shim, but it was completely crumpled at the bottom of the hosel (plus the shaft was .350 as well). Im a little confused on why the shaft fits so loosely? Any suggestions? Thanks
