How good do you need to be to play on PGA tour?
thebignasty replied to LongballGer's topic in Tour Talk
6600 yards isnt that long at all. Thats a pretty average course. Thats around what i play for school. And i never hit anything more than an 8 iron into a par 4 green. And to be completly honest im not even one of the top 5 longest hitters off the tee on my team. 7100 is pretty long and challenging. However, over the summer I played a course that was 7402. This is just ridiculous!!! 615 par 5, 492 par 4.That is a long course... -
Hitting a wedge of hard ground

hit down on it, take a divot. unless this was legit clay and would be like impossible to take a divot. -
How accurate are simulators really?
thebignasty replied to sethro5hc's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
ha idk. sometimes i trust them. sometimes i dont. but i go into a simulator and hit a titleist ap2 6 iron 200 yards. And im hitting it good but there is no way 200 yards good. On the course my 6 irons going 185 max. -

TM Burner 3 wood being used by Padriag...
thebignasty replied to Dub's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
negative..its an R9. hes been using it for a while -
this thread is for equipment sightings. So post pics of pros using either new equipment that hasnt been released yet. Or post pics of pros using equipment that they usually dont use. So please dont show Tiger using the same dymo driver he always using or anything else like that... For starters im posting pics of my boy Padraig who is using a Taylormade R9 driver and a taylormade Burner 3 wood. He has been using the R9 for quite a while but still hes a wilson staff player so its kinda interesting

Question for people who have played ultra-exclusive courses like...
thebignasty replied to Happy Dragon's topic in Golf Talk
one of my friends caddies at oakmont cc. and he said that 1 the members are ridiculously rich and throw money around like its nothing. 2 the range balls are pro v1s and taylormade tp balls. other than that ive never asked him about the special things that members get. -
Why can't I cut down my driver?
thebignasty replied to gilwood's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
why dont you just choke up on it then? anthony kim does it all the time...i dont see the need to cut it down -
its not rocket science here bud. seriously it takes 8 min tops to regrip a club. If you cant figure out how to regrip a club after reading up on the internet how to do it, then you have downsyndrome.

i shot a 38 today. first round with my new superquad driver. very happy with it.
-
Thats because he has 2 major wins, and no othe pga tour victories. but i agree one of my most liked players on tour. and hits the ball a mile!

johnny miller is a good announcer, hes knowledgable and everything. But sometimes the stuff he says makes you scratch your head and wonder what he was thinking. He says some stupid things sometimes. Now im not saying what he said about strickers swing is stupid. Just overall

i dont play any wilson staff clubs at the moment. but they do make quality clubs. i would deffinatly consider hitting wilson staff clubs and maybe purchsing a set of staffs as my next set of irons...

Has any one hit the 'new' sanctioned grooved irons?
thebignasty replied to rjal4296's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
i was reading somewhere that stewart cink or someone fairly popular on tour was testing the new sanctioned irons and wedges. And he said they loose 10% of spin from the fairway and over 65% of spin from the rough. So basically the players who can me most accurate and long will thrive.. -
i shot 3 over today. not very happy with my ball striking per say but sometime you have days like that and getting in with a good score is what counts. so not overly upset. by the way GO PADRAIG!!
-
what he said is true. I think its different for every person but for me my irons im usually around shoulder width with my stance. Wedges being a little closer especially on chips. My driver and woods i try and go a little further than shoulder to be more accurate.

thats a deep 6 iron. and i believe it by that video. He also looks pretty tall and usually that helps when trying to hit a long bal.. also longballger i figured out at the range today that moving the ball back a little bit from my left heel helps me get the ball a little more air under it. i also think i hit it a good 10 to 15 yards further so that should help. -
Your favorite -- or least favorite -- golf clichés
thebignasty replied to Q.Q.Quillume's topic in Golf Talk
i dont like the "you nutted that" or when someone hits a wedge or iron into a green and yells "spin" as its landing, like its actually going to listen to his call. my new thing is if i hit a good iron shot i say "pured it" and if i hit a drive well i "smAshed" and you pernounce the A like if your just saying the letter a. -
37 with a 3 putt. 2 bogeys and 1 birdie. a pretty solid round minus the 3 putt
