Personally I think that he has one of the best postures in the business. It's set where it techinqually needs to be(as some would say by the book), his swing/posture is nearly identical to Tigers 99-02 swing/posture with Butch. Nothing can get in the way of it except the 5" between his ears. But all of this is opinion I have nothing against yours. But I can see where you have a discrepincy with his neck tilt/angle, but as I see it it is to help him maintain his swing arc/path on the way down from 10-o'clock to impact. With his chin out it gives his right shoulder freedom to swing/rotate around his spine instead of his right shoulder coming out and over the top of the swing path. But thats just me. As for his lack in dominance I have no idea. I think he gets too down on himself when he loses a shot/stroke he can't seem to get it out of his head unlike most touring pro's and even some college players. But he is also expanding his off-the-course businesses/foundations. He's attempting to create an avenue so that when he retires the game he has others methods of making money, which is brillant. The truly wealthy make their money in investments not income.... Hopefully 2009 will grace the Aussie with a stellar year.

The way I see it is that it's a movement that simulates what a player wants to see/feel the club face do. I do this same movement on practically all my shots. So as well as "feeling" the club head coming through, I like to make sure I feel my left forearm rotating. This is just part of a routine to make sure when I set up I am confident on my swing. But I am certainly no pro....

I'm a automotive nut so Top Gear on BBC Monday nights at 8pm. By far the best automotive show on TV. Entourage is amazing, Ari's the man. I hope to think like him a couple years. Weaponolgy, Military Channel love history and military history. If you get Fuel TV, alternative sports channel, all the show are sick. But Insane Cinema is the best they show a bunch of indie films and quick 30 min shows that are from the industry. I love snowboarding, to be free on a mountain is better than any course (to me atleast)!

Alright I know this is way off but take a look at College of Charleston. Charleston South Carolina that is. Amazing school, I have buddies that go there now and every time I go to visit them we have a blast. Not only is it a great school based on "extracurricular activities" it's a low key school that is building up it's reputation with a stellar business school but has always been known for it liberal arts. It's $18k out of state, but the schools your checking out are easily that. Also a good school to check out is local here in Richmond, University of Richmond. Great I mean great business schools. The Dean of their business school is a member at the club I work at great guy. The only downfall is that is the second highest tuition in the country at $42k a year. I believe either Landmark, or GW is the highest. Goodluck in your search, it's getting ridiculous out there.

What kind of camera do you use? + request for free advice

As iacas posted the SD series from Canon is great, I helped my folks pick one out and played with it last weekend and it's actually pretty good for P&S.; It was the SD750 the thing I told them was to get the larger of the LCD's screens their getting older so it's easy for them to configure it and just looking at pictures is a heck of a lot better than on my 20D! It's tough to tell on mine with the small LCD I take so many shots and come to find out the one I thought was good was actually out of focus just a hair. It might be time to update bodies for me. -
True but isn't that the American way, look I hate corporations as much if not more than anyone else. The way I see it is corporations as an entity are the most corrupt and evil beings on this earth, basically having their numbers staying in the black. How do they do this, by keeping lobbyists and other special interest groups in Washington, but mainly bending over the middle class, but those are for another discussion please keep reading. But it is those who work for the company who we see as the possible force that can change everything. I think we don't need to be asking the individuals for money or even the corporations for that matter you'll be hard pressed unless they can possibly use it as a write off. But what we need is to use the employee's, on the companies time, to give of their services. But the funds would be highly appreciated. This could truly change the times, not the market but society. People would understand that giving back can truly help everyone. We may never see the pay back in our lifetime but this takes time. It's incredible to see one man so truly blessed. He has everything he wants and needs, but can't give enough of it away.

All great points, and I really do have a great time when I go out and walk a few holes after work. I try to focus on playing whatever happens, but what gets me is when I go out with buddies and members and even mess around with them and it just doesn't come together anymore. I have lost any idea of a streak. For a couple weeks I got out of this no sense and actually played I think to a 8-10hcp which felt great considering I was at a 12-13hcp over the summer. Just today I went to a buddy of mines club and played seriously just messed around, had a good time threw in a dip and just enjoyed the crazy 58* weather! But I played terribly, but knew that it only being my second or third time I really didn't care. I was going to head to the range and mess around for a while but I got a call to play. Right now I left the season as a 12, when I was a 2 or 3 last year at the same time. And I played through the winter because we only got one snow last year. I had the Callaway X-forged which the rep said would be perfect, and it was the only Callaway club I liked due to it's blade style head. I cannot stand the huge club head of Callaway clubs.

Thank you good sir, and hopefully that's what this thread is going to be following.

Bill Gates being the genius who is always thinking of innovative and sometimes provocative ideas has, I believe, come up with a great form of economics that can and hopefully will change our world. Watch the video here which is the shortest: CLICK HERE (This is the link to an interview about Creative Capitalism) But if you have time these videos are from the inaugural World Economic Forum which is a gathering of the CEO's and other Executives of world Corporations to help come up with ideas to solve some of our populations simplest yet most challenging problems. These videos are from 30mins to an hour long: CLICK HERE (This is the link to Gates full speech) I will comment after some other posts, and I would love to paraphrase but I think that it may skew or change the overall idea. I want to see what you think about it!

Okay, I dropped the staff position because I know I'm not going to be in the business long. I work with a top PGA instructor in the area who has helped me tremendously with what I have brought to the table. Also the Titleist fitting, who else would I goto to get fitted for Titleist 695CBs? The problem isn't the level I want to be, I want to be taking on the pros every weekend. But I should be able to go a round with out getting yips in my swing and not being able to fix them. The amount of time and heart I've put into this game makes me wonder how I am not able to achieve what I should. Thats what is making me frustrated not the bloody brand name. I am one who tells everyone to see a teaching pro before they buy any new piece of equipment.

Are most people exagerating their long drive exploits
Jarno replied to jfrain2004's topic in Golf Talk
As the post below this says, driving distance is to me irrelevant unless you are on tour where courses easily exceed 7,200 yds. What you should be worrying about is your fairways hit and GIR, like all pros worry about. Bubba watson maybe long drive #2 with 316 yds but fairways hit... 54.14% position 141. GIR 70.51% in 62 position. That shows you where you score. My boss, Class A PGA teaching professional is a great player, can scramble from anywhere, but is lacking in power off the tee. He averages maybe around your number of 260 yds, maybe a bit more. But he is by far the best short game player I have ever seen. PERIOD. I can pass him by 30-40 yds before the summer, now I can't even sniff 275 or a fairway. But he finds almost every fairway and gets to the green in fashion. After every round we play he says "Arno, scoring is 70% percent short game." And that is truly evident in his game. -
I would like to try the Ernie Els approach to the game, but after lessons I've found I have the ability to swing in line with Adam Scott. Which is in turn the old Tiger Woods swing, when he truly was on fire. I'm working on now analyzing Scotts film from now and Wood's film from I believe 97-00 and trying to see where it is from 9 o'clock to impact so I can emulate to help with my contact. I tend to hit incredibly high shots.

I believe it's my inability to work on one thing at a time, which is again psychological. I see one thing and attempt to find the "cure" and while working on it I tend to find a couple more that frustrate me. My instructor has worked diligently on this since day one. Amateur that had aspirations, I dropped the position as of Jan 25th I told the rep he needed to find someone that was staying in the industry. I work in the Pro Shop as a part time job while in college. Going to college for my BA, Masters of Health Administration, and then possibly Ph.D. I would love to stay with the game which is pretty big around here we have some stud players which I grew up with but we would go waterfowling because I never played when I was a kid, but they did and they did it very well. I played the Titleist 695CB that were 100% standard, and in the next month I'm going to get fitted by my instructor he is on Professional Staff with Titleist. He has the whole fitting cart from Titleist so that should help. But ever since I've gone back to hitting the 695CBs my game has become more consistent. There is still a lot of yips in my game, and that is what is making me frustrated with the amount of time I have put into the game and what I am getting from all the practice.

Long rant on my past year and what I expect out of 2008. I will post progress reports here or maybe another thread. Along with photo's and video's of lesson sessions. This should be a good read. As you may or may not have noticed it has been a while since I have previously posted or even lurked on the Trap. I've had some situations in my golf game as to where I question my presence on the course and even more on the practice tee. It started over the summer of 07, I signed with Callaway to become an assistant staff representative. Which means I use their equipment at all tournaments and wear their apparel and get paid if I win with their equipment. I was a great gig, but then I started playing worse and worse and worse. I began losing a lot of strokes on shots I knew I could make in my sleep. Now I must make a point that I am one who believes ever person needs to see a Professional before they buy a new piece of equipment unless it's more than 5-7 years old (considering technology is advancing so bloody fast). But all summer I had been working with one of my bosses, who is a Class A PGA instructor (the highest achievement in the PGA teaching program). We were working on twisting my hands over, like opening a door from 9 o'clock to impact to decrease the loft of the club. I used to hit it extremely high from 56* all they way to driver. So we worked on that until I got the X-forged. And after a few sessions we decided it was best I switch from the blades to the 695CB's which are cavity but they are blade thickness, I have a psychological thing about looking down at a huge club head. So we switched and it took a while to get back to basics, I never got back to what I had originally started at before the beginning of summer. So I just chugged along playing mediocre to poor golf with members, and feeling really down every time I left the course. I always wanted to play just to get out there but I would leave everytime extremely disappointed. So in October I decided to throw the sticks down for a bit and not to play, hit or practice ANYTHING for a while. Ha, I went to Charleston to visit my cousin who belongs to a great club down there Daniel Island Country Club. Amazing Practice Facility, so I decided to take my clubs and maybe work on things a bit, or just hit balls for the hell of it. So I decided Friday after Thanksgiving, of course the women went shopping and my cousin took his kids out to see a movie early in the morning, to go hit balls. You know not work on anything just hit 'em and see what happens. Well that didn't work very well. I ended up hit almost an entire pyramid of balls trying not to shank a 52* wedge, sky my driver, and top my 7-iron which used to be my go-to club ranging from 0-185yds. It was unbelievable it was by far the worst I have hit balls in the past year, and even worst ever. So I packed up and went to eat lunch, never thought of it until I got back and discussed it with my teacher. I decided to really take a break, I haven't picked a club up until yesterday I hit a couple buckets to where my forearms were sore and then headed out and played nine with a good friend of mine. Didn't keep score past the first hole which was bogey. But it made me realize that I had to take a break, I truly understand how much I love this game, and being out on the course. I think I'm going to have a great year. I might play decent or maybe bad but I will not become angry, just rub it off. Hopefully this is a new beginning for my 20 year old self! Thanks guys for listening to my rant!

Some would say it is marketing, Titleist says they are the best our there and they pay for the advertising within the magazine while Wilson doesn't have nearly the amount of ads in any magazine. As far as the V1 V1x, the way my rep tells me is that it is just like the Callaway HX balls. The HX Tour( or Pro V1) is for long ball hitters faster club head speed, HX Tour 56 (Pro V1x) is for more spin around the green and low-mid irons.

He doesn't have to beat him in the world rankings we just want to see him play with Tiger, most of his opportunities Adam gets in above his head and looses it. Seriously, Tiger is great but for once when someone talks about a great round would love it if someone didn't compare it to Tigers abilities and achievements. All superhero's fall, its how long can they stay on top. I believe Tiger is a great player, has an incredible imagination and can pull the shots off. But seriously other people play the game, and can at times play it just as well as he can. Back to the topic, it was phenominal to see Adam play so well today. I was working in the Pro Shop this morning I probably wouldn't have watched it if I wasn't working. But I caught the last 8-9 holes, and watched the highlights over and over again. I hope he has a great year.

Well they don't really sell the equipment, the reason your Sumo was so bloody expensive is because they give them to Tour Pros for free. At every Tour stop on Wednesday, Thursday, Friday the tour van's put out all their stuff out, Putters, Wedges, Drivers, Woods, Hybrids and all the Pros can grab pretty much whatever they want. So people ask why the club's cost so much it's due to that but also the amount of R&D; that's involved. But the Pros are the final step before the club goes on the market.

He has a tournament every year for VCU out at the public course affillitated with my club. We asked him our Director of Instruction and I, where the hell did the hick-up come from? He said a pro once told him he should slow his swing down, the pros solution was a hitch at the top or somewhere around the top of the swing. Well years later it has gravitated to the 3/4 part of the swing. He said last year he retired from golf except Celebrity Fundraisers and ofcourse the VCU Charity Scholarship fundraiser. But on a lighter note this man is the funniest man I've ever met!

A member at the club I work at is a PGA Tour Scotty Cameron rep, I should say the rep besides Scotty himself. But he made a couple putters for our Pros, a Circle T TeI3 for our Head Pro, Circle T Detour 2 for the director of instruction, and Circle T Red X3 for our First Assistant. He thought the pros at "his" club should have Scotty's in their bags. So we got to talking, I absolutely love the PGA Tour and Nationwide Tour. I mean it's like a fantasy to me just to be able to work like he does, to be out there with pro's and making putters. So I asked him able the new Tour Terillyum Ten that Scotty just made for the Anniversary of the TeI3. I love this putter, it's basically a Newport 2 with a Terillyum insert and the classic stainless steel finish instead of the Black. I asked him what's the possibility of getting one anytime. He says "They're untouchable . Scotty's only made 4-5 for a couple of Tour Pros, for some reason he hasn't made anymore after the PGA Champ. I've got 6-7 Pros waiting for them now. He said but if I do have any extras I'll call you!" I was ecstatic! Even the remote chance of me getting this putter made me feel like a kid at Christmas! But until then I'm going to stick with a Pro Platinum or whatever. Anyways just wanted to tell that story....thanks for stopping by.

The club that I work with is home to the Henrico County Open for the Nationwide Tour, but it's been there ever since Nike was the title sponsor for the Tour. I've had stuff come through the years, last year I got boxes of Pro V1s from the guys in th e locker room, 3-4 new FJ gloves, and a pair of FJ Classics my size (one of the pros left them he said if I could find someone who wore that size they could have them). But the best is we had Notah Begay out one year and I'll never forget it he was hanging out one morning I think it was a Friday, and he felt a bit more uppidy(?). In years past he was always nice but that day he was all over the place having a lot of fun, on tour Fridays are the grueling days cuts are made. So come to find out he's coming up 18, which is a shorter Par-5 our signature lake on the right bottle neck fairway 300ish out from the tips easy birdie/eagle, on pace to shot a 60 with a par. He in the rough off the tee, SMOKES a 3-wood to 20 feet or something, two putts for Birdie shots a 59. He came in and signed a ball for all the proshop staff. I didn't get one but we did get him to sign a picture and it's up on the wall in the proshop. The next year we were hanging out with Zach Johnson, after he lost in a play-off. He didn't have a flight until Monday morning. But those are all my Tour Pro experiences, it's awesome to work at a club especially one that has a Tour stop. If you have kids, try to get them to work at a golf club Private or Public. They meet TONS of people for later in life, i.e. for after college (me right now). And it's great work, always outside!

I've played Titleist for years, but I signed Assistant Staff with Callaway so I get almost everything free including 12 dozen HX tours so I use them until I run out. But I'm going back to Titleist next year, or Jan 08. X-forged heads are a little to heavy I love the feel of the 695mbs!!! But overall not complaining about the transition from Pro v1 to HX Tour. Both pretty comparable to each other.

When I changed my swing for the first time I didn't play for a month to get used to it on the range. It didn't really help. For me it's all about practice, but I knew I needed something else. I talked to my boss, Class A PGA instructor, and he said situational practice goes a long way once you have the basics of the new swing worked out. By the sounds of it your not to this point though. Now for you since you've only have one lesson under your belt it's a tough decision. I say go to the range an hour or hour and a half before your round. Get warmed up with PW and 9i at the most I mean really get warmed up. Next work on the things your instructor pointed out with a 7i or 6i which ever is you dependable club. For me it's my 7i, but it's personal opinion. If you don't feel it, I say don't play just work on it and try and get booked ASAP with your instructor and tell him the truth about what it feels like. The only way to get 100% out of your instructors is to be brutally honest. But swing changes take time as stated before. So now I'm working on the swing again with my swing coach and after each lesson I go and play nine holes and take my sweet time. (I work at a private club and no one plays after 6pm).
-
I actually have watched it a good amount. Getting into the proshop early to open up and I'll turn it on to watch something besides endless runs of Sportscenter! But seriously I can't watch Womens golf to me it's not as exciting. Not the crazy shots, or all that not to be sexist. But this Solheim Cup has turned my eye on these girls. Plus you get to see a lot of Morgan Pressel and Paula Creamer.

I change mine probably every 18-20 rounds per shoe but they are cleaned after every round. But that means taking out each spike and then cleaning the shoe completely. I'm OCD about my shoes if you can't tell. I have 6 or 7 pairs of playing shoes, one pair of practice shoes that the spikes get changed every month. I prefer Black Widows in all my FJ classics. But have tried Champs spikes in my Adidas 360's and actually like them when it's dry out. They feel like they can grip on harder terrain. While the BW's will hold on to anything, including carpet!

The Masters should be won between 5-15 under par, this creates the "Augusta Roar".
