  1. Sounds like both those a.h.'s deserved to have crappy rounds with that kind of attitude. I've tossed my 60 degree into the rough a few times but that club is evil, lol. I think we've all said a 4 letter word after a bad shot but kept it to ourselves without ruining perfectly nice stranger's rounds. I remember playing Riverstrand in Sarasota and this guy who thought he was a pro kept bitching at the starter for pairing certain groups in front of him. The starter chuckled and said "you'll be alright pal". I was like "thankyou!" I hate playing with people that have no respect for the game, themselves or other players.
  2. I kind of like how Nicklaus describes it. He emphasizes "natural" without any technical speak of the V position. A) (Righties) Keep the club on your left side. B) grab the club with your lead hand as it hangs naturally at your side. C) Place your non-lead hand comfortably facing the palm of the lead hand in an interlock, overlap or 10 finger grip position (whichever the player is most comfortable with). I personally tuck my lead (left) thumb under my right pinky as a modified interlock grip. I broke my lead wrist when I was younger and this feels the most comfortable to me now.
  3. I try not to leave my cig butts on the fairways and never on the greens. I must admit, I do leave it on the green when putting before I flick it "out of sight." I keep forgetting to buy a compact ashtray with a flip lid for the course. After reading this thread, I put it on my buy list. The golf course is one of my favorite places in the world, so out of respect I'll put one in my golf bag and use it for disposal. Thanks for the topic 913. (b.t.w. I love the smell of cigars in the morning, smells like victory, lol).
  4. Saturday I worked on... 1. compacting my swing to get used to hitting my new blades. It seems I need to play the ball off the heel/face to strike it sharply. 2. shaping my driver with either 1* fade or 1* draw by slightly opening or closing my stance and or club face. 3. Taking a deep breath and re-focusing after a poor shot without showing it bothered me. Today I will work on... 1. More of the above. 2. Leveling my putting stroke and keeping the exact same routine for every putt. 3. following through on chips with my 56* or 60* and judging the amount of backswing.
  5. My regular playing partner and I sometimes agree to take 1 mullie per 9 off the tee. Our b.s. logic is we don't have a pro caddie to help with those extra 4 strokes, lol. Now that I practice and play more often, I have no "good" excuse for using the mullie. Like others have posted, I often hit good scramble shots to save par or bogey, which is a great reward for not fooling myself. I feel like an ass when I declare "no mulligan today" then "o.k. I changed my mind, 1 per 18", lol. It also gets annoying when you get paired with other players that claim to have the same 86 I shot when I know ****well he shot a 96. Oh well, what can ya do?
  6. Some things I've read seem to indicate; low 1-10, mid 11-20, high 28+.
  7. Great show! I always flip to golf channel on demand/playing lessons before my saturday morning round to get me focused. I learned the most from the Watson episode. I like how he says, "I sometimes warm up with my 2-iron before my round because no one can hit a 2-iron. Every iron I hit after it, feels pretty good." I also got a kick out of Feherety chewing the grass around his ball to create a better lie. Good stuff lol. The personal lessons with Rocco and Alex Lifeson of Rush was good too.
  8. Cool. Sounds good. I'll buy ya a beer.
  9. That would work for me. Let me know if you want to play tues the 9th any time after 7am. I live near clearwater but I could meet you at a course close to you.
  10. Are any of you guys interested in playing the occasional round with me on a Tuesday? I'd welcome the company. My friend and Dad are having some medical problems so they've not been able to play much.

  12. Update to above. Primate, I too am using blades to attempt to improve my game, in addition to what I mentioned before about the look and feel at address. So far so good. I've played another round since I got my new set of blades. I've also had a few more range sessions. I found that I need to compact my swing for now and play the ball more toward the heel of the face. When well struck, it's a much better feel than my cavity backs.
  13. Hey Ryan. I live in the Tampa Bay area also. My above post was supposed to go on my newbie/welcome post(I had 2 windows open, lol) Feel free to send me a message if you wanted to play sometime.
  14. Thanks guys! I played today at our usual course Shalimar Creek in Lakeland. I played a new set of clone blades my friend assembled for me and struggled a bit, but I was expecting it. I'm off on tues, sat, sun. If anyone would like to play, let me know. I usually play with my fiancee's dad on sat or sun. I try to play on tuesdays. I sometimes play Cove Cay or East bay. I play in lakeland on the weekend since my fiancee lives there.
