There was a great article in this months Today's Golfer. It rated the best ways of gaining an advantage without being a cheat. 1. Using your body on the green and stand close to a player putting out from a few feet. THis will play on his mind as he wants you to move but may not ask you to so will be on his mind as he putts. 2. Influencing club selection was the best. By pulling out a driver on a short par 4 and then once your opponent has hit a bad drive then pulling out a long iron. This is not cheating as he is trying to gain an advantage by looking at what club you are hitting which is actually again the rules. 3. Misleading information. If he hits a wayward drive comment that it should be good even though you know that he wont find the ball. This then means he has to walk all the way back to the tee and hit again which will be very annoying to him. 4. The one that I do consider cheating is to make a noise while your opponent is swinging. This is becasue all the others if you are strong enough mentally you can ignore while it is impossible to ignore some opening a bottle of drink at the top of your swing. I think that you can use a little bit of gamesmanship but it should be the golf that does the talking and not by cheating your way to winning.

This happened a few weeks ago on the European tour. The ball was under an ambulance but the keys could not be found with out holding up play so the rules official allowed the player a free drop in line with the immovable obstruction rule. There is a good picture on the internet of it somewhere. I will try to find it!

If you listen to his interviews he will always blame his putting for not scoring well but i think he needs to open his eyes and work with the driver and other shots from the tee.

Went to the range tonight with my dad and he throws the club over the top when he starts his down swing, which results in a big pull or the ball starts right and fades back. Yet he think he is hitting the ball straight. A pro has identified the problem but my dad says he cannot fell any difference in his swing when he does and doesn't do it. So does anyone no of any drills to get him to feel as if he is pulling the club inside (like jim Furjk). I though about maybe hitting balls with the ball above his feet to flatten over the swing plane. I also tried to get him to bring the club on the inside on the way down but he could not understand the concept that i was getting out. Any ideas guys? The bad thing if it works he might start beating me!!!

Surely it would not be 18 if you hit every green in regulation. On a par 3 the other score would be 0 if you hit the green, while on a par 5 it would be 2 if you hit the green. Anyway back to tiger. Drive for show, putt for dough. If you hit a bad drive then you can make up for it with the next shot, but if you hit a bad putt that is a shot that can never be saved.

Im also a junior member and we to have playing restrictions. they are not as harsh as your club. Mine are cannot tee off before 12 on weekends. Although many of the juniors enter the tournaments at weekends so tee off in the morning. Some clubs have stupid restrictions on junior golfer and most of them are better that the adult members. There should be a system that allows the junior golfers below a certain handicap should be allowed to play at anytime as it is not like they are going to mess up the course or hold up the adult members. The clubs also wonder why there are no good junior golfer coming through with those stupid restrictions. I understand that we are not paying very much (£120 compared to £1500 for adults) for the membership but some members do not even no the rules. The junior members have to go through an interview to be allowed to play at the club which the adults do not. LEAVE THE JUNIOR GOLFERS ALONE!!!!

This is a tip I was given by a sports psychologist. He said that once you hit a bad shot take 2 swings (fast swings) to rid the feeling and the anger from that shot. After the 2 swings then take another 2 swings that feel good and are close to your prefect swing. Then place the club back in the bag. This means that when you put the club back in the bag you do not have a bad feeling or memory about that club. I use this all the time and find this works.

Heard that they are recalling them as some break the COR limit like the nike sumo. Not sure if it is true! I would check that out before sticking your hand in your pocket

Why do we not just build a glass dome around the course and see what effect it will have? I didnt think so! STOP protecting the pros! They already have everything laid out perfectly for them from tee to green and do not play a game anything remotely like what we do every weekend. Golf is a game where you are not just playing against everyone else but also the course, unlike any other sport! THAT IS WHY IT IS DIFFERENT AND WHY WE LOVE IT! Who pays Tigers wages? Why is golf so popular? Why has price money rocketed? THE FANS So the pros need to get on with entertaining as that is what they are there to do and we will continue to pay for the TV and there wages!

TIGER WOODS For my generation it is Tiger. I did not get to see any of the others play but for me it is Tiger. Look at what he has brought to the game. Golf is now COOL! We are no longer embrassed to say we play golf as Tiger has lifted the old and grey sterotype that was surrounding the sport for the years previously. He has caused an increase in the amount playing and watching which has meant that golf has a lot more money and technology in it these days. Also Tiger now has his own clothing line than you will see most wearing or at least a nike polo shirt. He also has his own foundation and has had a hand in the design of nearly all nike clubs to date. The man is a (money) machine and I am greatful to him. (wouldn't be on this forum right now if it wasn't for him)

Playing in the wind does not require luck it is a skill that most of the tour players should be able to use. If the winds in your face take 2 extra clubs and hit a low punch into the green. THESE ARE THE BEST PLAYERS IN THE WORLD AND THEY NEED TO BE TESTED. THEY SHOULD BE ABLE TO PLAY ALL THE SHOTS IN THE BAG. We all moan when a player hits the ball 350 and then hits a wedge to a few feet, at least this hole requires some mental skill and some shot making capability, not just to swing as hard at the ball as possible. **Cough Bubba Cough**

The hole is doing exactly what it was designed for one this thread. Making waves and causing people to talk about it. The hole is great becasue these days water is the only hazard that plays cannot master. Bunkers are easy for the tour players (with some puposely aiming for them on par 5's to stop the ball) and rough is easy enough if you have a wedge in your hand. Water is the best way to harness these players and I hope it plays the hardest hole on the course to prove you all wrong.

Sign me up. Tried to play twlight twice and only got 14 holes done!!! Once i was playing my great round (level par) but due to dark had to leave cos there were 3 hackers in front.

I was only joking!!! I dont think Zach Zohnson will win another major. I just wanted a few peoples reaction on him. He played well when it mattered on sunday but there are other players who have the game from thursday to sunday to win a major.

I have two. One i use for driver and everything else of around about 100mph and then another in my dreams of around 200mph. With that swing i have won the grand slam 3 times and also shot a 57.

Brand means the name on the club and who it was designed by. It mainly means who my hard earn £££'s pocket will go into!!!!!

Today was the perfect example. The sun was shining, yet was not too hot. Just perfect weather. Played 18 holes with 2 others that i have never played with. Played very bad about a 85 But... i was always shouting good shot. One of the players hit his 3 wood as far as one of my pure drives, he hit nearly every green and when he didnt he chipped in twice. Its the reason that i know that i can do that but i dont. The fact that next time i go out and play that could be me shooting a +2 or even sub par round. Greatest game on EARTH!!!! by a lond distance All i hope is there a course in the sky and i have a tee time (hopefully a long time in the future tho)

What the reasons why you love this great game. Is it just to get out of the way of the wife when shes in a bad mood or is it the competition?

Putting - If you hit a bad shot into the green then you can make it up by good pitch for par. But if you hit a bad putt you cannot make that shot back up!
