I don't know if you have noticed, but actually Nick Faldo looked pretty intimidated by Jim Nantz's presence. On Golf channel, Faldo makes too many jokes.... with CBS, Faldo follows Jim Nantz with particular reverence.

Yep, I agree with you. The younger players are emerging but they are not leaving their marks! It was pretty premonitory the answer Buckle gave to the press when he was asked his opinion on the fact that he was not going to play with Tiger Woods. This shows how much they fear him. IMO, we still need to wait for the "one" who is going to battle Tiger. It's a matter of "cojones", "balls'!

Not only the image quality was superior, bu also the announcing team was superb. Jim Nantz is fantastic and by himself can wipe out the whole crew of golfchannel!

Two friends play a round of "invisible golf". The first guy swings and the second friend asks him "where is your ball?" "320 yards away, right down in the middle of the fairway", the first guy answers The second guy hits his shot and the first guy asks him "where is your ball?" "right next to you ball", the second guy answers. The first guy swings, the second friend asks him "where did you ball end up?" "right next to the hole, for a birdie chance!" The second guy swings and according to him his ball gets close to pin, too They both putt and makes birdies This repeats on every hole, until they get to the 18th hole. The first guy swings and the second friend asks him "where is your ball?" "320 yards away, right down in the middle of the fairway", the first guy answers The second guy hits his shot and the first guy asks him "where is your ball?" "right next to you ball", the second guy answers. The first guy swings, the second friend asks him "where did you ball end up?" "right into the hole! that's an eagle!" The second guy looks at him and smiling says: "too bad you hit my ball..."

Ok... sorry guys... I am just watching tv and they showed the commercial... yeah, I agree with you... Tiger could have hurt himself... he should take care a little bit more....

Today is the last final round of the Buick Invitational at Torrey pines and it is the tour debute for CBS broadcasting Golf.... well... I really think that CBS is far better than the Golf Channel... Jim Nantz by himself can take down the whole Golf Channel team!

Hi guys! I have been to a NBA game between NJ Nets and Toronto Raptors.... I do not know you guys, but I really miss the Magic Johnson, Larry Bird, Michael Jordan, Isiah Thomas, etc. etc. era. What's your opinion on this?

Another Major won by Federer... Tennis has its own king! I will not be surprised if in 2007, Federer makes the Grand Slam and also Tiger Woods makes the Grand Slam in Golf!!!!!!!

Following the culinary thread sequel.... what's your favorite wine? I still stick to the Italian red wines, even though California wines are getting better and better.... any suggestions?
-
Hi! Golfers have great taste and sense of observation. What is your favorite ethnic cuisine/food? Mine is Italian (I was born in Italy!!) but I have great esteem of Japanese, Chinese and French, too.

Hi Applebyfan, Did you see the new Bridgestone ball commercial with Stuart? Pretty cool, isn't it?

i am lost... is this thing real or fake?

It's great to see young players on the top of the leaderboard at the Buick this weekend! Tiger will have more and more fierce competition at future events! I believe that we will all benefit from this, with more and more incredible shots and memorable Golf tournaments! What's your opinion on this new generational wave? Do you think older (uhm... sorry the word.... let's say..."more seasoned and experienced") players will be able to adapt to this new era?

Hogan Fan, thank you so much for the information!!! I actually joined the club and I must say that it is very exciting! I really look forward to play from the next tournament!! Thanks again, Itae

Lucky you! I have always dreamt to live in a place where you can play golf all year!!!!
-
We cannot deny that your place is one (maybe the) of the coldest places in US!!!!

I agree with you! Links 2003 is much better as a golf simulation game for PC!!

I usually do not eat before an important match. Empty stomach makes me concentrate better. But, nice typical british meal, BB69!

Hi BB69! I can't believe! That's exactly the system we had in Italy before 2003! I left on 1999 and at that time, my handicap was 20! We usually start at handicap 28 for men, handicap 36 for women. Handicap 28 means you need to play a total score of 100 for 18 holes (par 72 + 28 strokes) So, any player must start at 28 at the beginning. If you play a tournament and you play less than your handicap, (let's say I was a 28 handicap, but I played in 92 stokes, so -8, then my new handicap becomes 24... (-8 strokes divided by 2).... I don't think that system is very fair as I myself used to sandbag everyone with that..... I got my 20 handicap directly from 28 (in fact I won a tournament playing 12 handicap, so by -16 strokes!) The other unfair thing is that you can play pro-am or greensome tournaments and your handicap is not affected by this rule.... so you can imagine how good was our team in pro-ams......... I know it was lame, but I feel good now that I confessed!!

Hi Iacas, To be honest, I have been out of Europe for more than 8 years and I heard that they have changed the way to calculate handicaps (at least in Italy!).... so they have done more than introducing the Euro currency! Anyway, I found this formula on the Italian Federation of Golf... it seems that they calculate handicaps with it.... The new modern way to calculate handicaps, take into consideration course rating and slope. If my exact handicap is 7.0 and I play at Olgiata C.C which is a Par: 72, Yellow Tees (men standard), Course Rating: 73.1, Slope: 131 My playing handicap is 9 Playing HCP = Exact HCP x (Slope/113) + (Course Rating-Par) 09.2 = 7 x (131/113) + (73.1 - 72) To actually answer your request, unfortunately, I am not sure on how many scores they need to keep track for their exact handicap rating, but since the system got so similar to the one that we are using in the US (and most of the countries usually follow the American example), I guess they average the best 10 out of 20 rounds. I will ask to some of my Italian friends for confirmation....

Hi Guys! I need some help.... I got an original Bronze Ping Anser Putter as a present. It's in pretty good conditions besides the color.... since it is made of bronze, its color turned to be very dark and stained. I followed some advices like to apply some vinegard and salt, but it worked a bit but in the overall it did not change the color too much....from dark to a copper (brownish) finish. any advice to get it back to yellow bronze? how about a full restoration for the small dings and dents? do you guys know if Ping offer restoration service like Scotty Cameron? Thanks!!!!

does it get so cold also down there? (pardon my ignorance... but I thought NC was warmer enough to play in winter)

Great! I will try to follow your routine... especially the 50 putts per day! I don't know much about fantasy golf... is it difficult to do it?
