2. Rocco is one of my favorite golfers. But a guy who came within a hairs breath of losing his card, and has battled back injuries his whole career, doesn't need to be giving one of the best golfers in history swing tips....
3. The average man hits it farther than the average woman yes. But not farther than the average lady pro. At least not enough to have a tremendous advantage. A scratch Golfer can play a non championship course to even par or a little better. An LPGA player could play a non championship course to 6,7, or 8 under with no problem. A non pro male who plays to scratch would get eaten alive on the LPGA.
4. Better Question: Can this forum go one full week without someone starting a Tiger will never win/Tiger Sucks thread?
5. I passed a small group of ninjas on the street a few years ago. I gave them a nod of respect so subtle that it's possible they didn't see it, but hey it's me, they should have been paying attention. Not one to stand for this insult I simply stood arms crossed, they got my meaning this time and readied themselves for battle. I was planning on going hand for hand only until one ninja pulled out Kusari-Gama and I realized i needed something more substantial. I reached into my pocket and only had 8 inches of dental floss and a buffalo nickel. I quickly took out the Ninja with the kusari-gama with a spinning buffalo nickel to the adams apple, The Ninja's outnumbered me and gave my fists and feet a tremendous beating with their heads and testicles. Just wanting to show respect I didn't kill, only shamed. I raised my arms in victory and gave a Klingon battle cry that Harry Potter himself would cower from. Two blondes grabbed my arms and professed their undying love and devotion to me. I took them home and had them cook me a steak, medium rare with sauteed mushrooms. That was my one and only fight.....
6. What? This is just a clueless post...
7. Off the top of my head Paddy Harrington, Sergio Garcia, Dustin Johnson, Adam Scott, I'm sure there have been more. They've all been billed at some point or another as "The Next Tiger" after a good finish or a win. Until the next young kid wins then it's their turn.... I hope Rory becomes the next Rory, not the next Tiger...
8. How many "The New Tigers" have their been the last ten years? Every person that has won a tournament in their early 20's seems to get called that....
9. To Phil's credit, he does have the most incredible recovery/short game that the PGA has ever seen...
10. Was hoping Rage Kage (KJ Choi) would come out of the gate a little better. Hope he makes the cut. LOL @ Jeebus...I mean Phil Mickelson
11. Yeah, you could probably find some GREAT deals for a set of Blades at Pawn Shops or Garage Sales...
12. Have you had any lessons? I went from total Hack to breaking 100 with just 2 lessons. 2 more lessons and I was breaking 90. I'm now a pretty solid Bogey Golfer. Haven't played as much this year though, but Bogey Golf makes you better than most casual players and can make for some fun rounds....
13. Bunkerputt- I will try to give them a listen and get back to you, probably by PM as I imagine this thread will be dead by the time I can get through most of them. I will end with this, from here. Take Care!! The Independent Investigation of Truth Baha'u'llah emphasizes the fundamental obligation of human beings to acquire knowledge with their "own eyes and not through the eyes of others." One of the main sources of conflict in the world today is the fact that many people blindly and uncritically follow various traditions, movements, and opinions. God has given each human being a mind and the capacity to differentiate truth from falsehood. If individuals fail to use their reasoning capacities and choose instead to accept without question certain opinions and ideas, either out of admiration for or fear of those who hold them, then they are neglecting their basic moral responsibility as human beings. Moreover, when people act in this way, they often become attached to some particular opinion or tradition and thus intolerant of those who do not share it. Such attachments can, in turn, lead to conflict. History has witnessed conflict and even bloodshed over slight alterations in religious practice, or a minor change in the interpretation of doctrine. Personal search for truth enables the individual to know why he or she adheres to a given ideology or doctrine. Bahá'ís believe that, as there is only one reality, all people will gradually discover its different facets and will ultimately come to common understanding and unity, provided they sincerely seek after truth. In this connection, 'Abdu'l-Bahá said: Being one, truth cannot be divided, and the differences that appear to exist among the many nations only result from their attachment to prejudice. If only men would search out truth, they would find themselves united. 1 And further: The fact that we imagine ourselves to be right and everybody else wrong is the greatest of all obstacles in the path towards unity, and unity is necessary if we would reach truth, for truth is one. 2
14. While I think my GX922's are great, I would go with TRX V11. They are a new model updated this spring, while the GX922's are several years old, newer must be better and all that. Also with the debut of several All-new and ALL ORIGINAL designs using their very own R&D; I don't know it calling GigaGolf a clone club maker is an accurate statement anymore...
15. It's been my experience more often than not. You can tell pretty quick between the smart guys who care and the fakers who just want to tell you you're going to hell. When things stop being polite I generally stop participating. It's not worth it, and I probably don't have anything I'd want to learn from them anyway. Bunkerputt- I posed your question about Islam and Christianity to a few of the Baha'is I know. They are really smart guys and know their stuff a lot better than I do. Here are their responses: Basically Baha'i Faith teaches that, in the Quran, Bible or other Scriptures, there are verses that have a spiritual meaning. They express a spiritual reality, and not a physical reality. The Quran verse saying, that "They did not crucify Him nor Killed Him" is talking about the spirit of Jesus not His physical body. This is explained by Shoghi, the Guardian of the Baha'i Faith, in one of his letters. There are other verses in Quran, which says Jesus died. Regarding Jesus being God, Baha'u'llah explained that in the Book of Iqan, that if all Messengers of God say they are God they said the truth, for all the attributes of God are fully Manifested in the Manifestations of God and due to their nearness feelings they expressed their feelings by saying they are God Himself. Quran also has verses showing that Muhammad represented Godhead, and there are Islamic traditions saying "I am He, and He is I...." and Baha'is believe in the principle of the Manifestation of God.. that God is perfectly manifested in these Messengers of God for the people of Their day..and that They all sacrificed Their lives as Jesus, Muhammad, the Bab, Baha'u'llah did for the good of humanity.. Further we Baha'is would say that there was a misinterpretation of the Qur'anic verses and that Jesus was indeed martyred on the cross and His Spirit returned to God. The verse to which the author refers is 4:156 and reads as follows: "And for their saying, 'Verily we have slain the Messiah, Jesus the son of Mary, an Apostle of God'. Yet they slew him not, and they crucified him not, but they had only his likeness... No sure knowledge had they about him, but followed only an opinion, and they did not really slay him, but God took him up to Himself." 'Abdu'l-Baha's interpretation of the verse is provided in a Tablet published in Star of the West, vol. 2, no. 7, p. 13, in which He has written: "In regard to the verse, which is revealed in the Koran, that His Highness, Christ, was not killed and was not crucified, by this is meant the Reality of Christ. Although they crucified this elemental body, yet the merciful reality and the heavenly existence remain eternal and undying, and it was protected from the oppression and persecution of the enemies, for Christ is eternal and Everlasting. How can He die? This death and crucifixion was imposed on the physical body of Christ, and not upon the Spirit of Christ" See also Gleanings from the Writings of Baha'u'llah, pp. 85-6. Juan Ricardo Cole discusses Muslim objection to Gospel accounts of the crucifixion of Christ in "the Christian-Muslim Encounter", World Order, Winter 1977-8, pp. 18 and 22. He also left a link. http://webcache.googleusercontent.com/custom?q=cache:898jHCvwNiIJ:bahai-library.com/books/announcement.quran/3.html+crucifixion+Quran&cd;=1&hl;=en&ct;=clnk≷=us&source;=www.google.com
16. Christianity (the Bible) teaches that Jesus is God and that he died on a cross for the sins of mankind. Islam (the Qu'ran) teaches that Jesus is not God and that he did not die on a cross for the sins of mankind. Baha'i claims that both religions' tenets are true, as you pointed out in your quote. Can you show me a line of reason proving that this claim is not an absurdity? That's a very good question!! Not being a Baha'i myself I don't have an answer for you off my head, but I will do some more research and see what I can come up with. Also, the concept of "building on Christianity" isn't a new one. The Bible claims that Jesus is the final fulfillment of God's plan for mankind and that this revelation is complete (cf. Revelation), with Jesus being the focus, purpose, and pinnacle of Old Testament prophecy. Baha'is would agree that it was the end of Jesus ministry, but not the end of God's divine plan for Humanity. John 16:12-13 " 12 “I have much more to say to you, more than you can now bear. 13 But when he, the Spirit of truth, comes, he will guide you into all the truth. He will not speak on his own; he will speak only what he hears, and he will tell you what is yet to come." This seems to indicate that there is more to God's Divine Plan that Jesus could not reveal because Humanity wasn't ready at his time. A few hundred years later, Islam comes around claiming a better prophet with more up-to-date info from God (correcting previous mistakes He made about the exclusive divinity of Jesus ). If that's the way a revelation from God can be overridden, what's to prevent any random person from claiming to be a prophet, giving people misinformation about the true nature of Jesus, and engendering a following? After all, isn't that what Joseph Smith did with Mormonism? Another good question. Jesus said that False Prophets could be identified by the fruits they produced. He also said that those who look with a spiritual eye and ear will recognize him on his return. My personal feeling is that this where man must investigate and decide for himself what is truth and what is false. No one can tell you otherwise. One of the principles of Baha'i Faith that I most admire is the Independent Investigation of truth. Baha'u'llah emphasized that the fundamental obligation of human beings is to acquire knowledge with their "own eyes and not through the eyes of others." God has given each human being a mind and the capacity to differentiate truth from falsehood. You may find it interesting that Baha'i Faith has no clergy. Their "leadership" at the local, national, and International level is elected on a closed ballot by the members for a "term" of one year. There is no campaigning and no nominations. You just vote for who you feel most upholds the Faith. It's OK to disagree, and I appreciate your genial tone. We can have intellectual disagreements and still be amicable forum friends. In spite of the culture on the net, the two aren't mutually exclusive! Very much agreed!!!
17. Bunkerputt- The law of non-contradiction doesn't really apply here. The same as it doesn't apply with Judaism and Christianity. Christianity is a progression of Judaism. Baha'is believe that the Baha'i Faith is a progression of Christianity and Islam. Think of it like this, in Elementary school 4th Grade does not contradict 3rd Grade. It may present things in a different way, or cause you to see something in a different light, but they were taught to you that way in 3rd grade because you're mind wasn't ready for 4th grade. Baha'is believe that progressive faith works in the same manner. In Abrahams time people were Pagans and nomads. Abraham through God united people into tribes and brought about Monotheism. The people were not yet ready for the Ministry of Christ. Moses brought about the Laws of God and united the Tribes into the people of Israel. He didn't contradict Abraham but he did progress past Abraham. Jesus arrived and taught that Moses laws were no longer necessary. He didn't contradict Moses, but the Human Race had developed and grown spiritually far enough that they could do away with the old laws. Bahai's believe that they are next progression of God's plan for humanity after Christianity and Islam. I'm a baptized Christian myself, but I do find the Baha'i Faith very interesting. There is lots of modern ideas and beautiful scripture within the Words of Baha'u'llah. Take Care!!
18. Not exactly. They just won't happen in ways that we expect or understand at first. Christians accept that Jesus Christ was the Messiah Moses talked about in the Old Testament and Torah. People of the Baha'i Faith also believe that Jesus was the Messiah. Baha'is also believe that Jesus was the Son of God, born of the Virgin Mary, lived a perfect life completely free of Sin, and was crucified for the better of all mankind. Therefore they say nothing to deny the divinity of Christ. That's not really my point though. Basically Jesus fulfilled all the prophecies by Moses, Daniel, and the other Old Testament prophets, despite not coming as the Pharisee expected which led to them denying Jesus and claiming him a false Messiah. "The Messiah will sit upon the Throne of David" Jesus had no throne "Mt Zion will dance in the day of the Messiah" Mountains can't Dance "The Messiah will rule with a sword" Jesus didn't have a sword and actually taught love and peace "He will be a Son of David" Jesus was born of a Virgin "Daniel said the Messiah would be a Prince" Jesus was a Carpenter It was Jesus failing to LITERALLY fulfill these scriptures that led to his rejection from the Jews. According to Baha'is Jesus second coming as Baha'u'llah (Baha'u'llah means the Glory of God) happened the same manner. Again I am not a declared Baha'i, so I'm not trying to Witness or convert (something the Baha'is don't believe in doing anyway) Just trying add a different perspective. :)
19. I don't exactly disagree with you, but I would say that it depends on your point of view. Members of the Baha'i Faith, which I am not a declared member but am studying the theology, believe that Baha'u'llah fulfills all the requirements of Christs second coming. Mathew 24:42-44 is the parable of the Thief in the Night. Baha'u'llah used Jesus own explanation of the Parable in verse 45 as his own interpretation. I am paraphrasing but basically, The Servants who were supposed to watch the masters house, fell asleep and missed the Thiefs coming and didn't realize he had been till the Thief had left. Baha'u'llah stated that Evangelical Christianity and literal interpretation of parable and prophecy is the same as falling asleep spiritually. Therefore you must be ready and listen and watch with a SPIRITUAL eye and ear, rather than a literal one. The Second coming of Christ was never intended to be Christ in his new name literally descending from the clouds of Heaven. Baha'u'llahs ministry began in 1844 right in the middle of maelstrom of literal Bible Interpretation and they believe that his coming was missed by most of the Christian Community. Again, I'm not a declared Baha'i but I do love theology and religion. So I find it all very interesting. Here is a link describing the Baha'i perspective on the rapture... http://www.bci.org/prophecy-fulfilled/rapture.htm Edit: http://reference.bahai.org/en/t/ab/SAQ/saq-26.html Also another good source straight from Abdul-Baha which was the eldest son of Baha'u'llah
20. They have nothing, but according to the IRS Harold Camping has amassed over 72 million in personal wealth the last two years. He's been pretty silent the last few days, wonder if he will give any of that money back? Regarding the "Rapture" it's really a new concept in regards to Bible Prophecy. Having only been a preached concept since the Early 1800's. It was an idea conceived around the time Evangelical Protestants began interpreting the passages and prophecies of the Bible in a literal sense, rather than symbolically as Christianity had for the 1900 years before, and a thousand years before that beginning with Abraham and MonoTheism. As well as Judaism and the Torah. In fact it was Orthodox Jews (Pharisees) literal interpretation of the Prophecies of the coming Messiah that led them to fail to recognize and reject Christ's first coming. Suffice to say it may be come to circumstance that literal interpretation of the Bible may lead to many Christians failing to recognize and rejecting Christs second coming, if it hasn't already happened. Also the word "Rapture" is never explicitly stated in the Bible. And the entire idea stems from one verse in one book, with no regard to any of the other chapters or verses around it. 1 Thessalonians 4:16-17 (New International Version) 16 For the Lord himself will come down from heaven, with a loud command, with the voice of the archangel and with the trumpet call of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first. 17 After that, we who are still alive and are left will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And so we will be with the Lord forever. Edit: thought of a supplementing point
21. Probably just a glitch in your Driver Swing. It would be a lot cheaper to get a lesson that to buy a whole new Driver to Shaft....
22. Charlie Wi has been playing pretty good so far this year. Seen him on several weekends...
23. I live in Murray right now, but am moving to Owensboro in June
24. Another cool thing about Rage Kage was the first thing out of his mouth in the post round interview was affirming his belief in Jesus Christ. While I don't consider myself to be a Christian it is pretty special to see a man not afraid to proclaim his Faith first thing, after one of the most important professional events so far in his career. Rage Kage is a special man indeed...
