  1. Maybe, but I've always liked the left hand better. It feels like someone else......
  2. It certainly been an enjoyable journey. It's actually quite amazing how awful the swing was when I first started. But things really started to improve around July. I thought about this today and did my own experimenting. My results were the exact opposite. I got a really high ball flight with more backspin when I led with the left hand. A stronger right hand made my flight lower, and even caused me to blade a few times...
  3. iacas- Thanks a lot!!! That is a ton of superb information, and it definitely gives me a solid foundation on what to work on in the next month or so. Very much apprectiated.
  4. That was just my stock iron shot, which is a slight draw...
  5. iacas- Yes I do think of a rotation and arc in my swing. Would a more aggressive left arm create more lag and help with the flip?
  6. Thanks delav for the tip and always bringing some great advice in my thread. My flip is an ongoing problem, and going to be my main focus this next month. My main focus in August was more Hip intitiation in the downswing. I have another lesson next week, and it's going to be strictly contact.
  7. Six month update. I even have a driver swing this time. Sadly it's not a 300 yard Driver swing.
  8. Considering most pro's don't hit it 300 yards I can't understand why people get a chubby by claiming they hit it far. My range ends at 250 yards but there aren't any yardage signs just flags. You'd be amazed the guys that hit drives that land 40 yards in front of the back of the range thinking they just smacked one over 300 yards. I love the look on their face when I tell them the range only goes 250 and their drive managed about 215 with 200 yards carry.
  9. It may even be something as simple as your stance is open to the target. Try practicing with an alignment aid. All the pro's do it. We Amatuers should too.
  10. Have you tried looking at the Lean cycle? That's what I'm doing, after this 90 is up I'm going to take two weeks off and then do classic. Lean is a lot of Cardio/Core with only two days of weight training, Arms/Shoulders and Legs/Back
  11. Yoga is a big part of the P90X program. It's by far the hardest segment I have all week.
  12. If you're looking for forgiveness than any of the square shaped drivers would help you out a lot. Also the higher lofted Drivers will be a little easier as well. The majority of guys don't need a 9.5* driver with X stiff shafts, even though they seem to be the first guys to pull out their Driver claim 300 yards and slice OB. I started Golfing in march, and use a 12* Square Driver. I only play with one FW and its a 17* 4 wd. But I prefer control over distance and am a conservative player, and I've gone from scoring in the 120's to low 90's in six months. However it doesn't matter how forgiving your driver is, if your swing is jacked you're still going to spray a lot of drives.
  13. You may just have a mental block with the club. What you fear, you create, especially in golf. This may not be the case with you, but most guys tend to swing their hybrids a little too flat. Teaching pro's wil tell you to swing them more like the irons they were originally designed to replace.
  14. The Golf Swing should be a circle around your body, there aren't any straight lines in a curve, so if you're right handed it's probably going to be a few degrees left. It shouldn't be drastically left, but a touch
  15. I can vouch for P90X since I am currently a few weeks into the program. My brother owns and runs his own personal training studio in Bowling Green Kentucky, unfortunately I live about two and a half hours away from him. We talk all the time about nutrition, exercise, and how the body works. P90X is a workout regime, just as there are 100's out there. Will P90X give you any advantages or any miracles over other workouts? No it won't it's simply a way to work and discipline your body. I chose P90X because of it's strict guidelines, and specific regiment. Some people don't such a rigid structure, but I enjoy. I like the extra challenge and the discipline such a program requires. Anytime I would work out on my own, I'd flounder away a few weeks, see little progress, get fed up and go eat a pizza. Now I have it explicitly laid out what I need to do and how I need to do it. Like I said some people need that, others don't. I enjoy that part of it. Another advantage that I personally enjoy about P90X is it has a finish line. The destination of "In 90 days you will be a more fit person" gives folks a goal that they can work towards and aspire too. I like having that date in the future and marking off the days as they go behind me knowing I'm one step closer to my goal. Again, some people may not need that, but having something tangible like a specific day for to work towards helps keep me motivated. So P90X works for me, as with anything it may not work for everyone, but I am benefiting from the program, especially on the golf course.
  16. What does it even matter. There is nothing wrong with with hitting a 10.5, 11.5, 12, or even a 3 wood of the tee, whatever keeps it in the fairway and puts you in better position.
  17. PineMeadow or GigaGolf. Can get them custom fit and brand new...
  18. I'd suggest going to a higher lofted Driver. At the LEAST a 10.5 but a 12 would probably do you better. You won't lose any noticable distance and if you straighten out you'll gain it... Most amatuers don't need a 9.5, especially if you have a highish handicap...
  19. I only have a Pw and 56* My last few rounds have all been two or three strokes on either side of 90
  20. Well you know, hitting the exact center of the sweet spot over and over again with 300+ yard drives will do that
  21. Tour Guys don't hit their Drives as high as you think. The Camera Angle just makes it look that way. If your Drives are 15-20' at the top of the arc you're doing fine as long as you don't have to hit over anything. Usually moving the ball towards the lead foot a little more will give you some more height....
  22. I voted Titleist since that's what I'm currently working towards. I use a mixed set right now. My PW 9 and 8 Iron are all Titleist DCI 990's but my 7-4 iron are GigaGolf Cavity Backs. I'll probably switch the 7 in a month to Titleist and then be settled for a while. I'll probably always keep the low irons as Cavity Backs.
  23. :Other Nickent 3DX square Its a great Rookie Driver, It'll be a sad day when I retire it...
  24. MDB- Something else that might help you is to make sure that the left knee is flexing towards the ball on the back swing and not straight in front. If you flex the knee out your head will drop cause your body to shift toward the ball on the downswing instead of toward the target cause you to hit the heel. PIC- I have my feet pretty far apart probably 5-6 inches past shoulder width. I struggled at first with my driver and hybrids because I was thinking "it's the Driver, I have to change blah blah" When really just widening the stance and placing the ball more forward will take care of everything you need to do. make those adjustments and swing like you would an 8 iron. The stance will flatten the swing for you. It helps me personally to really feel like I'm stomping down with my left foot to initiate the downswing. It gets my hips moving forward plenty. Hope this helps!! I'm no expert, just relaying the things that have really helped me...
