  1. If you want to play Half Moon Bay, you should join the e-club. They send out emails with sizable discounts. I just played on the weekend for $100 with the benefit of the e-club. I think you can sign up on their website. If you plan to play there I strongly suggest you join. I really think you can't go wrong with any of the 3 courses you are choosing from. Harding is a great course. The shooting range can be annoying, but it is wonderfully designed golf course and usually in excellent shape. At HMB, Ocean is a fun track that is very open and more of a links style, and the Old course has one of the best finishing holes in the Bay Area. I would play any of the 3 and I think you will be happy.
  2. I would "like" to see O'Hair win, but I am worried about his putting. He needs to get better there to win a major. I think Kaymer will win first from this list. Good ball striker, good putter, something like a PGA Championship I think.
  3. I would not classify him in that way. I think he works with players that are not specified as S&T.; Sean O'Hair and Hunter Mahan are not viewed as S&T.; Although I might argue that O'Hair might be more S&T; than even some of the guys classified as S&T;, but that is for another thread. That being said, I definitely thinks Sean understands the principles of S&T; and knows how to apply them.
  4. I always thought that stimp number was calculated as downhill- (minus) uphill roll. Is that not accurate? Or do you have a slope in your house?
  5. I would rather Tiger not switch to S&T;, for selfish reasons. Mike and Andy will become MEGA-superstars and it will be difficult for them to have time for us commoners anymore. I don't need Tiger to switch for me to know S&T; is a great way to swing the club. So I for one am hoping he stays away.
  6. Fire Hank for sure. I cannot understand why he stays. I would suggest Sean Foley. Good young pro with some decent ideas.
  7. This is my big miss as well. I hate the push fade with such a passion that I would rather duck hook one out of bounds than hit a weak push fade. I hate playing from the right trees, also I find the push fade doesn't go as far either, so now I am in the right trees with a long way to go to the hole. I understand your frustration. For me, it is has all to do with getting my hips forward enough. If I don't get the hips forward then I start to spin them out and either wipe the clubface across the ball with a very weak push fade, or if I throw the club out too far the dreaded shank. If I get the hips forward enough the push fade goes away. Without seeing a video of your swing I cannot know if this will help you, but it helped me.
  8. This is a great idea. Good find here. You should pat yourself on the back for recognizing you problem is from overswinging. I don't know many people who recognize that. If you want some reference material you can look up "extensor action" on the web. It is a TGM term, but it gives you a pressure point to think about in order to keep your right elbow in a better position.
  9. thrasher, I had this problem too. Have you tried switching the memory card? I had a older memory card in there the first time and it skipped continuously. Once I switched the memory card it seems to have gone away.
  10. The 1000fps is for like a sliver of the image. Like 480x100. Something silly like that. 210 is great for golf swing speed.
  11. So... the only reason to get the Kodak Zi8 is to easily transfer your files over USB. The Zi8 has a built in USB plugin that means you can directly plug it into your PC once you have taken the video. The best frame rate is 60fps I think though. 60fps is good enough for swing analysis, but 210fps from the Casio is better. With the Casio you need a cord to plug into your PC, sometimes it isn't that convenient.
  12. I would caution you to be very careful in watching videos of Mike Bennett from clinics. Often he is trying to demonstrate a particular shot and may not be hitting the ball with his stock pattern. When you attend a clinic he will hit hooks, draws, over-draws, pushes, etc trying to demonstrate different things. Without being there you cannot tell what he was trying to do with this shot. If you want to see a generic ball position better you check out some videos of Charlie to see his ball position. But even with that, I would say that in general you might need to experiment on what works best for you. Many times I will see guys start with the ball further back in the stance because it can be easier to draw from that position.
  13. This is known as a rolling shutter effect. iacas is correct, the majority of CMOS image sensors capture data one row at a time from top to bottom. CCD cameras use what is called a global shutter where the image is exposed at the same time and stored. There are some great videos on youtube if you search jello effect, rolling shutter, or global shutter on this topic. Some high-end CMOS cameras will use global shutter, but they are not typically sold in retail.
  14. I do not consciously think about standing up. But everyone will have different feels in their swings because we all have differently built bodies. The best way for you to tell if you have the backswing correct is to watch your swing on video. If your head moves down and/or left then you likely have too much tilt, and you need more standing up. The whole point is as you said to keep the head centered. Personally, I think sliding the hips is one of the toughest parts of the S&T; swing. I know I struggle with it, and I think most people do as well. The best video I saw on it is . His feel of putting the belt buckle over the left foot is one of the best I have seen for getting linear. I also should caution you, trying to do too much like fixing the backswing and sliding the hips can being tough. I suggest focusing on one, getting it comfortable and how you want it to look and then moving on to the next one. Biting off too much may get you frustrated.
