  1. Okay that does makes sense. Thanks Mike. One question though: What makes the difference between a push hook (like my mild left to right ball flight) and a push slice? The way I understand ball flights, both of those shots start out left because of an in-to-out club path, but what differentiates the two? Isn't the club face open in both shots? I've got a few swing videos, but none of them are of me hitting the ball, just swinging, so I'm not sure whether I should post them or not or if they'll be helpful at all.
  2. I bought my Cobra Bio Cell driver at Golf Town (a big Canadian golf store) mainly because of the selection they had and how close the store was to me.
  3. When me and my friend were about 15 years old we decided to try out a new championship course from the back tees. We're at the 15th hole, a long uphill par 5, and my friend takes out his driver (an old callaway I think, it was old even back then. It looked pretty much like a 3W). He hits probably the purest shot I've ever seen in my life and the ball takes off, we can't see it. We walk up to the ~250 yard area but can't find the ball, we think it's lost. Up ahead we see the marshall in his cart waiving us down. We walk over and find my friends ball, dead centre of the fairway, about 340 yards from the tee. The marshall thought it was his second shot! He ended up eagling the hole too! We still talk about it to this day, none of us can believe it went 340 yards uphill with an old driver.
  4. Used to phone in to book, but now i'm starting to book more and more online. It's much easier and quicker in my opinion.
  5. Thanks for the advice Bill. I actually do get the occasion bad hook, but I'd say when I'm not slicing my ball flight is actually a mild left to right pull hook (which I'm perfectly fine with). The slicing is more prominent with the driver too now that I'm thinking about it. I'll try to get a swing video up as soon as I can, weather permitting. -Uncle Peter
  6. Not my best but definitely my most memorable... Par 3 at a new course I was trying out, 178 yards downhill, then uphill steeply, to a green perched on top of a hill. I hit a 5i pin high but right at the bottom of this hill, which was at least 30-40 feet high. I had an okay lie, but couldn't see the flag. I take out my flop wedge, aim in the general direction of the hole, and shoot. I make perfect contact but have no idea where it goes. I get up to the green and find my ball 2 feet from the hole. Made the putt for an unlikely but awesome par.
  7. After a few years of swing problems, I've finally figured out what's wrong with my swing. On my downswing, I've noticed that my clubface (for all my clubs) is open just before impact, which I'm pretty sure is what's causing my shots to start out left of my intended target (I'm a lefty) and slice away even farther left. Does anyone else struggle with this problem and if so, how can I fix it? -Uncle Peter
  8. 2015 Goals: 1) Get an eagle --> I'm going to have to work on accuracy with my hybrids and woods 2) More straighter and longer drives --> Need to work on some errors in my swing and make it more consistent 3) Make better contact with all clubs especially irons --> Again need to work on my swing 4) Eliminate "open club face at impact" problem --> Not quite sure how to fix this one yet. Most of my goals relate to me fixing my swing, so that's the main goal this year.
  9. 1) I'd say I hit a few more straighter shots this year, but there's still a ton of room for improvement 2) Yes I did have several rounds in the 80's this year; more than any year before 3) I did shoot a new low round of 86 (or 87 I think) 4) I played more often as well. I think I got in about 10 more rounds than last year and on a more regular basis 5) I wouldn't say I hit my approach shots that much closer this year, probably just the same as last year Pretty good overall I think. Now to set a few goals for this season.
  10. Cranked a 3 wood high, dead straight, over trees, and 250 yards on a par 4. That's longer than most of my drives!
  11. Shot a 91 (47/44) at a local par 72 course (69.2/115) that included an 8-hole bogey streak on the back nine. It was one of my more consistent rounds, but I would have shot at least 5 shots lower if my putting and chipping was better.
  12. And that's exactly my point, it's not even his fault!
  13. Of course you are, but I'm talking about the times where you're just playing for the heck of it. (AKA when no one else is behind you and you're just playing for fun), that's when I'd re-hit one without penalty.
  14. Simple question to everyone here, who do you think is the most consistent player on tour (PGA, European, LPGA, etc.) in terms of leaderboard position? For me it's Jason Day. It always seems like he's within a few shots of the lead whenever he's playing a tournament (especially majors)
  15. Tiger, just because I hate how whenever he's playing in a tournament all the commentators focus on just him and no one else.
  16. If I hit a bad shot or shank a ball into an out of bounds area, I'll occasionally drop another ball and retake the shot, but only if there is no one behind me and I'm sure I won't be holding up anyone. I'd be pretty mad if I saw someone drop a ball in front of me while I was waiting on the tee box.
  17. 4th hole (par 4, 400 yards) at a new course I was trying out. I hit a long drive that goes just right into a bunch of pine trees. I get to my ball about 145 yards away from the hole and see that I have no direct shot to the green, just a small opening in the tree trucks about 6 feet wide and about 30 feet away from me, right of the flag. I'm on a slight downhill lie also, but I hit a 7I dead centre through the gap. The ball flies out and over the trees in front with just a little left movement midair. It lands on the green and rolls to 6 feet. I made the putt for birdie too.
  18. My worst one came just a week ago. 10th hole at a super-tough course (Woodington Lake - Legend course). The hole is about 430 yards long in a sort've hockey stick shape (goes straight then turns slightly right and starts going uphill to the green, with massive downhill slopes protecting the green). I hit my first drive and it's left OB. I take another drive and it just catches the left rough, but on a bad downhill lie about 200 yards to the hole. I hit a 3H and nearly fall over from the angle of the lie and the ball goes left at the bottom of one of these slopes. I'm left with a 50 foot hill in front of me, so I hit a 50* wedge. I think it's on the green so I run up the hill and find it's not there, but at the bottom of the hill on the other side. I run down that hill, hit the same shot except it goes short and into a greenside bunker, I chip out of the bunker and two-putt for who knows what (didn't even bother counting it then).
  19. The Golf Town in my area had the BiO Cell driver alone for $200, so I'd say it's a pretty good deal.
  20. 96 on probably the hardest course I've ever played (Woodington Lake - Legend course if you're wondering (par 72/7015yards 75CR/147slope). This course is tough on it's own, and I wasn't swinging the clubs too good today. My friend also convinced me to hit from the back tees too which didn't help either.
  21. 6 hours was my longest. The clubhouse booked my tee time right behind a tournament (didn't bother telling me about it either) and when our tee time arrived we had four foursomes yet to tee off. Every hole after that we had at least a 10min wait on the tee. I was playing the course for the first time and it really ruined it for me. The course itself is a tougher one and usually takes me just under 4 hours now.
  22. I got Dufner You take life one day at a time and don't take anything too seriously. You are so laid back that it appears sometimes you are not fully conscious. You might chew tobacco and definitely waggle before you swing the club. That's pretty accurate, minus the chewing tobbaco bit.
  23. It doesn't really matter much to me. I wouldn't personally put any music on while I play, but if one of my friends has some on, I don't mind it or I won't ask him to turn it off.
  24. Some revised yardages after putting many more rounds in over the years: Driver: 230-250 3 Wood: 220 3 Hybrid: 190 4 Hybrid 180 5 Iron: 165 6 Iron: 155 7 Iron: 145 8 Iron: 135 9 Iron: 120 PW: 100 50*: 80 SW: 0-60
  25. Hopefully now I'll start hitting the ball like him! :) Yes I'm planning on writing a review of it after I've played a few good rounds with it. I played a round with it yesterday and found that it's really forgiving, but gives you that extra distance when you hit it dead in the middle. 10.5 degree is the most useful loft for me as of now.
