  1. I would say that might be true if it wasn't for the season with the ladies. Half the girls on that season could play and Carling and Sara don't embarrass themselves on the LPGA tour.
  2. If I remember correctly don't you need an index of 1.5 or better just to get into an open qualifier? Everyone has a bad round now and then but that card looks like he played with a broken arm. I don't see Kent shoot a 100 anywhere, just give him the damn money and end this dreadful season.
  3. A 102 I 'm absolutely positive I could shoot less than 102 on a USGA qualifying course. Maybe I can get on next season's show. We played all of our high school matches from the tips, many on courses I'd never seen before and I never went higher than 90. Come on golf channel, give me a shot!
  4. This show is supposed to be an opportunity for great golfers to get their "big break" and get a chance to compete on the PGA tour. Looking at this group there's really only one guy that has any business in a tour event. Kent is clearly the most complete golfer on the show and it isn't even close. If he doesn't win I'll be shocked. Everyone else in this season has been a colossal step below your average PGA player. Carl's a nice story, but doesn't have anywhere near the game to play on tour. Will's probably out next show. David cracks me up. The guy walks around looking like someone just woke him up and said "HEY, let's play golf. What I don't get is how can he only drive the ball 260 yet hit a 5 iron 195?
  5. I've never played from the "up" tees but I do frequently play from the tips. Sometimes when others join me they don't want to play the tips but they feel oddly compelled to. Ironically a lot of time they shoot a better score. Not because the longer distance doesn't affect them, but because they can't reach the fairway bunkers from the tips. The back tees at the course I frequently play have a lot of "chutes". They help to frame the hole better and they tend to hit more fairways. The only real area where they're "punished" is on the par threes because they typically add 3-4 clubs from the tips. The longest is the 2nd at 237! :P
  6. A lot of times when you play with friends you tend to relax and focus less on your game. A combination of banter, trash talking and just having fun can pull you off your game. You tend to focus less on the important parts of each shot and just go into a sort of autopilot "play golf" mode. This might be one of those instances where really focusing on your pre-shot routine can help pull you back into the the scoring zone.
  7. I wouldn't expect Ian Poulter or Rory McIlroy to know what the Lincoln memorial is but I would expect them to recognize the statue of liberty. That said, none of us know Bubba Watson. None of us know what's going on with him or with his life. There could be innumberable issues going on behind the scenes that we're totally unaware of. His behavior did come off poorly but we don't know what the reasons might be. These guys live their lives in front of the camera where every move is scrutinized. I'm not excusing his behavior but I don't think he needs to be crucified either.
  8. Almost everything Scotty Cameron has ever made has been a blatant rip off of a Ping putter. They were great putters 25 years ago and they're still great putters today!
  9. I worked with my pro this morning on taking myhands out of the swing. I've always been a feel player and required a lot of things to work perfectly to hit the ball straight. I was also picker so my compression stinks. Now I'm swinging more with the arms and lower body and the improvement in my ballstriking is insane. By taking timing out of the equation and I have a much better feel for a proper impact position. It's going to take a while to ingrane the feel but I hit a couple of dozen 4 irons today that were just perfect.
  10. Let's not forget, Creamer, Inkster and Kerr are serious competitors and have won multiple times on the LPGA tour. I think each of them has a least one major on their resume. Michelle Wie has 2 wins and gets 10 times the coverage. It's apparent that the advertiser's and the tour want her to be the next star. Perhaps when Wie finishes school she'll start to win more but for now she hasn't come close to the hype.
  11. One of the guys on another golf forum saw her at the US Open. He said she was take your breath away beautiful.
  12. I'm not sure how much longer I can continue to watch this show in it's current format. For every two minutes of golf there's 5 minutes of commercials. You literally get 2 shots then some overly produced and highly fabricated cliff hanger. I'm also finding myself increasingly irritated by Tom Whathisname. I wish he'd just STFU and let Stephanie do all the talking.
  13. Holy thread resurrection Batman. Dead for 4 years and POW!
  14. I was referring to the swing change he did year ago, I think it was around 2003 when he was hyper concerned about how he was flighting the ball.
  15. The problem is you can only be on one side of the fence at a time! I think Tiger's margin's of victory were greater under Harmon but he has more wins under Haney so I guess Haney wins that one!
  16. If by the "college experience" you're referring to the non-academic part, he can still get drunk and get laid as a pro! Granted you don't have as much time to sleep it off! I've got almost 300 credits worth of college credits and I'm not even working in any of the field I have degrees in. College is WAY overrated.
  17. This kid is nuts if he doesn't turn pro after this weekend. He has the opportunity to make tens of millions and finishing his degree at UCLA isn't going to contribute a penny to his earning potential. People go to college to get the opportunity to earn more money, being educated and knowledgeable doesn't require a four year degree. I have two bachelor's degrees and half of an MBA done and I'd trade it all to be a tour pro! :)
  18. Probably because it hasn't proven to be any more effective than any other type of swing coaching. Everyone's mileage will vary. Pro's play to win and if they're not winning consistently then they won't likely stick to something. Padraig Harrington won a bunch of majors and wasn't happy with his swing so he changed it. Tiger Woods dominated everyone and he changed his swing.
  19. Some players wanted to see a couple of degrees open, a couple of degrees closed. For example, we knew some of the top players were bending their drivers six, seven, eight degrees open, but they obviously still were able to bring the clubface back to square at impact square. Read More http://www.golfdigest.com/golf-equipment/blogs/hotlist365/2011/06/dialing-in-your-swing-equipmen.html#ixzz1Q9aknoHr I tend to play my driver a bit open at address because my miss is a hook. Playing it a couple of degrees open helps keep a draw from turning into a snap. If I don't square up, I get a mild fade. I can't imagine bending a driver eight degrees open. That seems unreal to me! Just goes to show you how far the gap is between what the pro's are playing and what you buy off the rack.
  20. I'm really struggling to understand what you mean. Yes Tiger has won in the last three years but he's been no where near as dominant as when he was with Harmon. Look at his margin of victory in his wins under Harmon versus those under Haney. It's not even close.
  21. That would be AWESOME They could call the match the "Delusional Open"!
  22. I just did an analysis on some video I shot of my swing a few days ago. I've got a "V" gap of approximately 40 degrees so I'm getting there!
  23. I wish Tiger would just go back to Harmon. When he was with Butch he was winning majors by 10 shots. Enough of this Haney & Foley nonsense.
  24. This might be a bit of a newsflash for some but the golf ball has no idea what iron it's being hit with. A golf ball doesn't care if it's being struck with vintage Pings or 2011 forged Mizzy's. A ball can only react to the physics applied to it. If you think your course are somehow special and only certain brands of irons will work you need to rethink your position. People buy new clubs because it feeds their ego. A square faced Eye 2 moving at 100mph will produce a pretty solid ball flight regardless of what the ad agencies have implanted in your head. Some of the best forged irons of today are not radically different from their counterparts of 50 years ago. Case in point:
  25. I haven't but a company I used to work for had a guy win $10k in their tournament. It was one of those hole in one deals. Nice prize but the jerk stiffed us on the entry fee!
