  1. Harry vardon ( greatest european player of all time ) , Walter Hagen ( what a great character ) and Bobby Jones ( quite simply the best player of all time ) and i would play them at Old head because none of them would have evr seen a course remotely like it .
  2. What about Harry Vardon ? Tiger uses his grip , golf was a tiny sport in the usa until his touring there. what about Walter Hagen almost single handedly created the professional touring pro , helped remove class boundaries and made the american public want to play .
  3. saying that Canada has the same gun laws but not the same problem as a reason not to tighten gun laws in the US is rather like saying uganda which has a 75% hiv rate does not need to address safe sex issues because they have the same issues as in south africa even though the rates are far lower there
  4. i agree but they do not have the same problem as the us so that does not seem all that relevant to my mind.
  5. I am curious as to how mant massacres of innocent people it will take in the US before you question your right to buy ammo at walmart and guns over the counter. Please dont tell me guns dont kill people , people do thats a bs cliche wheeled out by the gun nuts to defend their positon.
  6. Perhaps not allowing ammunition to be sold over ebay might help reduce the incidences of this type. I have a question for the first poster though what is your point ? and why have you saved the ebay pages to pdf?
  7. "if Mickelson could string a couple of years together where he won more majors than Tiger, maybe win a couple of money titles, then I think he would be considered on par with Tiger".......................thats a joke right?
  8. If you think he can win the open spraying drives 60 yrds offline at carnoustie you are totally wrong , if he does that there he will not even make the cut. have you ever played carnoustie ?
  9. Am i alone in finding the masters a real let down this year ? I do not want to see the best players on the planet struggle to make par . They way the course was setup the winner was going to be whoeber made less errors rather than the player that made more great shots. It just left me cold and i love the spectacle of the masters but the commitee know it alls have ruined it Bobby Jones will be turning in his grave. Congratulations to Zach Johnson though great mental strength a lesson to us all.
  10. Booby Jones pure grace and poetry in motion. Ernie Els "the big easie"nuff said. I will now no doubt court jeers of derision for you chaps in the colonies but I think Monty has a beautiful swing.
  11. Casting same problem I always fight , in my case back swing gets to upright and I in effect force the club forward when I initiate my backswing and have to cut across the ball to hit it . thereby causing what in polite golfing circles is known as the powerfade. I do an number of things to counter this 1) stand a little more closed the longer the club at setup. 2) swing on a shallower plane more around my body really concentrating on a good shoulder turn , I have found I am really prone to this when my arms become too active. 3) concentrate on swinging away to the right of the ball , I dont but it straightens my divots up no end .
  12. His behaviour was disgraceful but nothing will be done of any real consequence because as usuul the mighty dollar will be considered more important. However I am curious who are "them" the Eurotrash that you refer to ?
  13. You cant possibly be serious with that post . Jack Nicklaus won 18 majors , came 2nd in another 19 playing against Arnold plamer 7 majors , gary player 9 majors , lee travino 6 majors and tom watson 8 majors . the players you mention can only raise 6 between them !
  14. Tiger almost certainly will eclipse all those players but he has not yet . I do not fell its enough to agrue that clearly he is a better player than Nicklaus but has simply not eclipsed his records yet because then you can argue that Bob Jones has a record that will never be surpassed in some ways . Your point about altering golf courses is an interesting one and has been done before but what I cannot understand is how making a course longer is supposed to make it harder for Tiger Woods ? It seems to me it makes it easier for him to win since it limits his competition to a handful of other big hitters.
  15. please justify that statement with regard to the achievments of bobby jones , harry vardon , jack nicklaus and walter hagen each of who have records yet to be broken by Tiger
  16. Paul casey , hits it a country mile and putts really well . If he learns that you do not attack on every hole .
  17. and she has got fantastic hooters
  18. Wow you guys in the States are out of control when it comes to tipping , if I pay $100 for a golf lesson why should I also tip? What am I paying $100 for ? My wife and I booked some massages at a spa in Colorado and were asked at reception any problem with us adding a 20% gratuity ! Now these massages were $150 for 50 minutes which is already expensive I feel , when I asked why we should be expected to pay an additional $30 on an already inflated price the staff looked at me like I wad mad!

    oh yes pleeeeeeeeease
  20. Enough of this stupid teenage girls delusions , as the previous poster said she is incapable of even winning on the LPGA tour . She will never win on the PGA tour she is simply not good enough .............end of
  21. got to be Pebble Beach for one and perhaps in the interest of balance another UK venue my suggestion would be either Turnberry. Imagine that Woods , Nicklaus , hogan , hagen , jones , vardon , faldo , player , norman , watson and palmer knocking it around on those four courses
  22. Furthermore in Jones day the amateur players were still the match of the pro players
  23. clean their clocks my behind , bobby jones shot a 67 around winged foot using hickory shafted clubs and gutter percher balls. The open courses these guys won on have hardly changed and are far more demanding than St Andrews and Hoylake were Tiger has won his opens. In fact I will have a wager with you that Woods does not win the Open this year because its being played at Carnoustie which is a whole different ball game. I feel it would be far easier for players of Vardon (whose grip woods uses) , Hagen and Jones to compete today because equipment advances have made the game easier than for everyone.
  24. "Anyone who discounts Tiger's record by saying he has to win all majors in one year to be considered the most dominant player in history is not recognizing reality." Nobody is discounting Tigers record perhaps you should read the post again . As to the courses played many of the courses played are the same as today winged foot , st andrews to name but two. besides which surely to be considered the best player in history one must eclipse the accomplishments of all the other great players now in the case of Jack Nicklaus that means winning 19 majors but win as many as you like if one other player has won all majors in the same year the argument will rage on . Besides which the winning % of Bobby Jones in majors would take some beating as well ,not withstanding the fact that he played against Walter Hagen and Gene Sarazen both of whom are considered amoungst the greatest ever to have played the game. Neither ever won a major Jones played in . Now Tiger is no doubt one of the greatest players of time and may well end up being the greatest of all time but not yet my friend not yet...
  25. Strange and here was me thinking that you had to be a good golfer already to attend a us college on a golf scholarship.
