Wow! First place. I got pretty lucky. I too was drooling @ picking Phil, Furyk, & Vijay. I also picked Elkington, Perez, & Quinney. So far it's harder this year. Things are going a bit wonky, but it's been to my advantage. I want to get into the top 100 of everyone. Right now I think I'm 114. But boy, can that change quickly, both ways. Still, a lot of fun picking. Good luck to everyone from the Sand Trap, but not too much...

Played last year, came in 3rd. It was a blast. I'm back in again...

Well, well, well. Up to second place now, after the Canadian! Not bad considering I got screwed on the two double tourney's this year ( my official rant is in another post ). It wouldn't seperate the two tourneys, so i'm short two events, but i'm still in SECOND place right now (did i mention that already?), so my rant for the time being has subsided, cause right now i'm in second place!!!!!

That really tiks me off! Everytime there is 2 tourneys, it won't let me select both. I only got points for the Open. All the players were mixed up in one grouping. It starts off ok, then you get guys @ $250,000 with guys @ $75,000 mixed in between...thats 2 tourneys this year that i missed out on. How am i ever going to catch Erik!!!! Birdieboyz

Putting has always been the best part of my game, but i really like the Sophia. Jerry Kelly used one on the weekend. Its small, heavy, and rolls very nice. I replaced the grip (nice, but i didn't like yellow) so i bought the new Winn extra wide. Used it for 2 hours on a putting green today. When u hit the sweet spot it sounds REAL nice! Putting is such a personal thing. It's tough to walk into a place like Golf Town & see all those putters. Try a ton of them and see what feels good. The 2-ball White Steel last year felt right for me until i tried the Sophia ( i wasn't even looking for a putter, damn you Golf Town ). My son has my 2-ball now.

I bought the Yes Sophia last year & I really like it. (I noticed this weekend Jerry Kelly uses one). You have to try them out. It's a feel thing. If buying an expensive putter would improved your game, we'd all have Scotty Cameron's? I'm from the 'Peg too, so go to Golf Town and try a few putters on their putting greens... I personally don't like the big, colourfull, Star Trekki looking kind, I prefer the small blade style.

How Much Do You Love Cobra Drivers?
PutterHead replied to BigHitta's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
As u can see below "In My Bag" that i have the SZ. I tried the Launcher, Callaway, & Ping G2 at the time, and hit the Cobra way more consistently. No problems at all. I'm almost dreading to have to "upgrade" my driver down the road judging by some of the things coming out now. -
I just got my CG10 Lob Wedge!
PutterHead replied to Cleveland Gunmetal's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
I agree. It's purely cosmetic, but i personally like the black pearl look. I have the 54º & 60º and luv em'. I may get a 50º & pull my 4 iron. My 22º halo is almost smack dab in the middle of my 3 & 4 (3 pulled already) so if i can use the halo for both of those clubs successfully, i'll get the 50º -
What make of grips do you use?
PutterHead replied to PutterHead's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
I have never heard of these, or ever seen them in any golf shop before? Where do u see anything about golf grips on their site? -
Very kool! Congrats Erik. By the way, we're going head 2 head in the Fantasy League. I'm BirdieBoyz & sneekin' up on ya...

Should I change anything?
PutterHead replied to Cleveland Gunmetal's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
I took my 3HL out, and added a Halo 22º Hybrid. I could probably take my 4HL out as well. The 21º is between the 3 & 4, so i could probably make due with the one club. Even though you shouldn't have more than 4º between wedges, i have no problem with a 47ºPW - 54ºSW - and 60ºLW. If i drop the 4HL, i'll go with a 50º as well. Sorry to ramble, but i definately like the 60º. I use it quite a bit. -
I just recently changed my woods & a hybrid to Golf Pride New Decade MultiCompounds. They are a cord/rubber hybrid. Very, very nice. I also re-gripped my Yes Sophia putter to the new Winn Excel AVS oversize paddle. I didn't like the yellow/black grip that came with the putter (grip was good) so that's why i went looking. The Winn is very nice as well. Same texture as the old one, but a square & flat front, and much larger. I definately like the large flat front better.

Plastic or Wood Tees? Something Else?
PutterHead replied to PutterHead's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
I bought a bunch of Stinger Tees last year. I have to admit, i had a hard time placing the ball on them. They are sitting in my basement now, and not in my bag. I don't know why i had so much trouble, but it was frustrating enough before a drive for me to give up on them. -
I have the G-Sok spikeless. I wore them all last year & i found them very comfortable with all the grip i needed. They stayed dry & i didn't notice any wear on the bottom at all. There is nothing to change, cleat wise, so i suppose if they do ever wear out, they are done, but i can't see that happening. I just bought some Pulsar spikes today to put on my old Adidas ZTraction Heritage shoes. I want to try them again to see if the spikes are different than the spikeless. The nice thing about the spikeless is that u can just walk straight to the 19th hole without changing.

I have the Yes! Sophia 34" blade. Had a White Steel 2-ball, tried the Sophia @ a golf shop, and bought it. I wasn't even looking for a new putter. I had the 2-ball in the trunk last year, just in case, never took it out, so i gave it to my son. Nice weight, great feel.

It took me a long time to decide on a set of irons a couple of years ago, but i know i made the right decision. I got the G2's with the 3-5 HL (3 has been replaced with a Cleveland Halo). I really like these. They have a great feel to them (weight wise) and they don't look like all the others, shiny & chrome like. It's kind of like cars, some people will only buy Fords, and some only Chevys, depending on personal experience, or just listening to others. I personally don't like Callaway drivers or irons, though i haven't tried them all, and they are very good, but i'm officially a Ping person now. A lot of people are using Mizunos. Next time I will try some, but i'm sure i will stick with Pings...

I have the 460. I believe Cobra has introduced 2 new sets of drivers since the SZ was launched. The Golf Town in Winnipeg had Cleveland Launcher Comps for $198. Great deal. Pretty decent driver. I bought an 11.5° for my son's birthday.

Well today, the low is -29c (approx -20F) with a windchill around -35C, so i think i'll leave the clubs indoors today. I go to a local club and hit balls indoors almost everyday. They had a deal for a couple hundred bucks for 8 - 1/2 hr one on one lessons & unlimited hitting until March 15. Last year i didn't do anything all winter pretty much, and it was awfull. After I'm done in March, i'll go to a simulator and put it on driving range, so i can check my distances with each club.

I don't think they should be banned. I have never used one, but if u look at the different kinds of putters today, it's pretty frightening. Some are so bright they look like they take batteries, some look like potato mashers, some look like they came from an old Star Trek prop room, and others like the tri-ball, are getting so long in the ass end, that if they ever make a 4 ball version, some spectator will get hurt on the backswing? Like some of the above posts, if i bent over a bit farther, my Yes Sophia would be classified as a belly putter...
-
I had an Odyssey White Steel 2-ball last year. One day while browsing around @ Golf Town, i was trying all kinds of putters, and fell in love with the Yes Sophia! I don't know why, i liked the 2-ball, and i'm a pretty decent putter, but i bought it anyway. It's awesome! It's small & heavy, makes my 2-ball feel like a feather. I feel like i have much more control with it as opposed to the 2-ball. Lots of guys have asked to try it out. It's so nice looking down at a small mallet instead of some of the bright coloured potato masher type putters. I highly recommend it, but putters are so personal... and Yes! , they do roll off the face smoothly.

I just went to the where our teams are listed. They looked active, so I clicked on one of them & it said "this feature is only available during tournament". It looks like we will be able to check everyones team standings during each tournament now.

Plastic or Wood Tees? Something Else?
PutterHead replied to PutterHead's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
I used the Stinger Tees last year. I had a heck of a time getting the ball to stay on? It seems I spent a lot of time trying to balance them... -
Never heard of Anna Rawson before, but she's got my vote. Georgeous, a golfer, & an Aussie! Doesn't get much better than that...

I agree it's not great, but this is the first one, so we should give them a break. With all this criticism (and well deserved) it can only get better! I look at it as getting a chance to watch golf on a Thursday & Friday, instead of waiting for Saturday. CBS & NBC, between them, are still doing everything from the Buick Invitational to the Tour Championship, except for Mayakoba, U.S. Bank, & the Reno-Tahoe. The Golf channel is going full HD in February, so everything is supposed to be in HD after that. Read my post in the The Grill Room, under Got HDTV...
