I recently downloaded a transcription of "I Loves You Porgy" as performed by Bill Evans. In trying to listen to how it "should" sound as compared to my feeble attempt, I found this on Youtube. Evans was one of a kind:

I know there have been several threads about a reasonably priced cart bag. I bought an earlier version last year, and it has held up very well. This one looks good, and you can't beat the price. http://www.mggolf.com/cure/?utm_source=mgblast&utm;_medium=Email&utm;_term=Order%20Button&utm;_content=Subscriber%23273896&utm;_campaign=140307%20CART%20CURE-opens

I checked out the site that Nemicu listed, as I thought that Master gear was only sold on-site. I see that they take pre-orders, then buy them at Augusta National. For a HUGE markup. Personally, I can't see paying almost $50 for a hat, even with a Masters logo. But someone is willing to paying that price.

Made a large purchase, sight unseen, thoughts?

I think you will do well with them. A friend (about a 20 cap) bought the Ap1's a little while ago. He is very pleased with them, and he found his distance improved somewhat over his earlier set. -
The first question is whether you plan to have a car during your stay. You really don't need one. If you opt to not have a car, you are sort of limited to cab ride distance. But that doesn't mean you'll have to spend megabucks to play. A few closer-in courses that immediately come to mind, that are good value (comparatively speaking): Angel Park (two courses) - Arnold Palmer design - Currently $75 after 11:00 am weekdays Legacy - Arthur Hills design - Currently $99 weekdays, $75 twilight Las Vegas National - Currently $99 weekdays, $75 after 1:00 pm Desert Pines - Around $75 in the afternoon Revere (two courses) - Billy Casper design - Currently $84 after 1:00 pm So there are some lower cost options for very nice courses. I didn't include the goat tracks. If money is no option, or if you don't mind driving longer distances, there are lots of courses to play. Some are VERY expensive, but others are not too bad.

Good to have you on the site. Piece of advice: Be sure to check the dates of the post you are responding to - The Original Poster (OP) was back in 2009. Hopefully, he and his dad had a great time at the Masters. But welcome to the Sandtrap.

Careful. You could say the pyramids and Stonehenge were built by uneducated people, too. They seemed to have done OK.

A lot has to do with the future of Ukraine. The western (Ukrainian) population wants to be more aligned with Europe. The eastern (Russian) population wants to stay aligned with Russia. Certainly the overthrow of the Ukraine president causes worry in Moscow, as they have a huge military presence in the Crimea. They wouldn't want to lose access to Sevastopol, the home of the Russian Black Sea fleet. http://www.stripes.com/news/analysts-black-sea-port-in-ukraine-still-key-to-russia-s-naval-interests-1.270904

I'm not a Nike ball player but Slickdeals has a great deal: http://slickdeals.net/permadeal/115270/nike-store---1-dozen-2013-nike-20xi-or-20xi-x-golf-balls

Russia is dealing with it, that's the issue. They have sent in troops to occupy a portion of the (supposedly) sovereign nation of Ukraine. US should just stay out of it; there's nothing to be gained and a whole lot to lose.

OK, I see you don't want a serious discussion. Have a good evening.

Since you are anxious for advice (I hope you read all the other posts in this thread first!) here's what I advise, based on going to Wednesday's practice round last year, and seeing quite a few pro tournaments: It's possible to follow anyone for 18 holes. Doesn't mean you'll get to see all the shots, and means you will have to stand behind people who have already set up on a particular tee or green. I personally wouldn't follow any one golfer for more than 9 holes, if that. The cream of the golfing crop is at Augusta; see as many great players as you can. And the course is hilly. You will get worn out going up and down all the hills if you try to follow just one group. The routing is self-explanatory. You won't get close to the 12th green or the 13th tee. See other comments on the holes to watch. Do you only want to see one shot from each golfer? Set up on a tee. Want to watch putting? Set up on a green. It's a LONG walk from the main merchandise building to the parking lot. Buy all your stuff at the end of the day. Why would you want to waste viewing time in a store, then either haul it back to the car or carry it around all day? 6:00am. Note: My ideas about watching a live tour event may be different than others. I personally like to spend at least an hour at the driving range watching guys warm up. There are great seats right behind the tee area. I hate staying in one place for more than a couple of groups; watching putting is BORING. I might hang around the landing area of the 13th, just to see the drives and the 2nd shots; then slide over to the landing area of 14 since it is adjacent. Maybe a little time around the 16 tee or the 18 tee. The back nine is where it's at. Plus it's closer to the parking area at the end of the day, assuming you park on the west side in the free lot. Note that this advice is worth exactly the amount you paid for it.

Scott's swing looks great from any distance. It has been his putting that has held him back from winning a lot of tournaments, not his long game.

Why not just play on-site? Slammer & Squire and King & Bear, two 18 hole courses that I have heard are pretty good, and definitely look nice on TV and on the road passing by. By Mid-April I doubt they are over $100, especially if you are staying at the WGV.

There's intelligent and there's educated. I've seen a number of people that are both, but I've seen many more that are one but not the other. -

Phil Collins maybe, but the News (with the Tower of Power horns backup, of course) was a tight band. -
About 20 marching bands in the Bacchus parade at Mardi Gras. It's amazing that some of the bands can play two parades in one day. I swear the parade route is over 5 miles long. Great time!

For what it's worth, this advice is coming from a guy who drives a Prius? -
So, by your definition, in response to what you might feel is a disparaging tweet, you call the tweeter a disparaging name. Sounds a little hypocritical, no? And if you spent any time in the South as you say, you would know where the term "redneck" came from, and how it is a source of pride to a lot of folks.

Rate my divots !! Just to see how I'm doing.

My experience has been that the knuckleheads who spread their divots over the entire hitting area generally hit the ground about 3" BEHIND the ball. -

Here's an excellent video showing the BIG difference in divot patterns for 50 balls: http://mccgcm.blogspot.com/2012/04/driving-range-tee-and-preferred-divot.html -

We have 2x4's dividing each hitting station, with spikes holding them in place, I find that after awhile, if the grounds crew hasn't moved the dividers in a couple days, I end up moving the dividers a foot or two in order to use some decent grass. I shouldn't have to do that, but it's just amazing how many people think just like the OP. The majority of golfers, unfortunately. -

David: Nice furrows. However, I had this discussion with our pro, and he said that for Bermuda grass like we have down south, there should be about 6" between rows to allow enough of the Bermuda runners to run out quickly. Up north, they rely on seed to get the grass back, so taking rectangles is preferred. He is originally from Maine, so I guess he should know. Either way is MUCH MUCH better than the OP's battlefield scenario. I hate to practice after a group of hacks demolish the driving range. It's one of my pet peeves. -
As has been discussed in other threads, holding a WGC event outside the US or Europe is asking for a limited field. How many of the top golfers are willing to travel that far for no guarantees? Obviously, not enough to please the HSBC sponsors. In Woods' case, comparing a potential 20th place finish at the WGC event with a guaranteed $3 million paycheck is no contest. He has proven time and again that he loves the guaranteed paydays, and who wouldn't? Giving an exhibition instead of trying to beat 100 other top golfers over a week's time is a piece of cake. The downside could be that HSBC will drop their sponsorship when the time comes to renew. I could see that happening if the strength of field continues to decline.
