  1. You're closing sentence is as true as it is unfortunate. There's so many players worth watching, especially now. I hope Jason Day becomes a huge star (aka win a ton). He looks like he really works at it.
  2. First ever pro tournament? or first EVER tournament? Congrats on beating some good players.
  3. PUSHING HIPS FORWARD AND EXTENDING THROUGH IMPACT
  4. Today was awesome. There were two firsts for me today. One was wearing pants for the first time ever while golfing (as it was drizzling and i used to not play when it rained). Second was hitting a perfect push draw (a few times actually) with my 8iron and noticed that it went 10y farther than normal (about 155-160). My alignment stick was pointed directly at the target. The ball pushed 5-10y right of target before drawing back 5-10y. This happened maybe 3 or 4 times total. I hit about 10 push over draws where they would only push a few yards and draw much more (due to a more closed face) left of target. STILL, the big breakthrough is finally being able to push the ball without fading it too. I can say I successfully hit a professional looking push draw today. The ball flight looked like Charlie Hoffman's Winning Draw, except nowhere near as high and not as big of a push. I can't say I've successfully done this with the driver and actually know how I've done it. I am going to keep working on this part. Pushing the hips forward at address to preset weight has really helped me start pushing the ball (instead of flipping and pulling it). Last week I could only hit pull fades an pull draws and the occasional straight draw. I am going to work a lot these next couple weeks on hitting a push draw with the driver. I really, really need to get fit for a driver especially. That way I can truly know what my swing errors are and not second guess if it's partially the drivers fault. To be honest, the club feels too long and too upright in my hands. If I grip down on it the lie feels more flat on the ground.
  5. Cut the Playoff reward points in half and it would be a lot more fair. 1st for a playoff event gives even more than a major, doesn't it?
  6. I tried putting my driver weight 60/40 with a hip bump at address. Almost immediately I noticed how easy it was to get the club "on plane" (taking it back inside, although taking it back too inside would be bad as well. I like "on plane" more. but for people taking it outside the feeling to them would be way inside). More importantly, it was much easier to deliver the club on plane through the down swing. I then tried putting the weight 40/60 and found I couldn't get the hands deep or on a one plane at the P4 for the life of me. The whoosh from my driver (relevant to the thread, lag) is much louder as well. I used to not understand how to control my weight distribution. I used to lean my whole body forward. Now I just bump the hip (which also gives me a little secondary axis tilt) to replace the weight. I do this right before I start waggling and after I achieve a good posture and push my hips back.
  7. I'll probably watch this video 100 times a week. That swing Charley made on 17 was just so perfect. I can't stop watching it.
  8. Were they erupted fully?
  9. I'm not even close to famous and I hate attention from others who I am not GIVING my attention to. It has to be mutual for me. I just hate attention and being famous would SUCK in that respect. Always dealing with people you don't want to talk to. I will say, I hate it when people don't pay attention to me when I am to them. It's a slap in the face. But I would rather have NO attention from those who I do not know. Unless it's a situation where I want to get to know them. Here's one example. People on airplanes who feel like they have the right to yap about their life to you. Or just bother the hell out of you with small talk. I just put my ear plugs in and sleep or read. To answer the question, no way would I, unless it was something that just happened. Like bumping into him or something and apologizing and hitting it off in conversation. But no way would I approach them. Would you approach a random stranger and just start asking them about their life? No. I was 20 feet from Ray Allen with a whole bunch of kids back in high school. He was in a salon getting a haircut and a lot of the kids went into bother him. I didn't because I knew he wouldn't like it.
  10. I have one that is partially erupted. Is it more painful to get them removed after or before they erupt? It seems to be growing in pretty nicely and I don't really want to remove it if I don't have to. You had yours for almost 20 years Iacas? What happened to them between then and now that made you want to remove them?
  11. That's probably because women have been proven to on average have inferior depth perception to men. I feel like when the ladies miss it it's more often either long or short than off line.
  12. The simple solution is the obvious one. Make a new commercial.

  14. This posting season is only closed in areas that can't handle winter golf, is that correct? I play a fair amount of golf in California during the off season and I believe those can still be counted towards handicap (since the course is in playable condition).
  15. That's exactly what I thought. He doesn't flip in his actual swing yet he's telling his students to do so. This douche bag is just in it for money, he doesn't care for the improvement of his students. There is just no logic in thinking if your students improve less quickly they will want more lessons. More like, they will stop wanting lessons. Where as if you teach your students to improve they will come back for more lessons in shorter intervals because they just can't get enough of how good you are making their golf game. That video is just as sickening as the image Iacas started the thread with.
  16. She swings like a guy. Her smash factor is absolutely outstanding. I love the sound when she hits driver. I think the reason she hasn't won more is a simply a lack of maturity. But, she's growing up so we'll see what happens.
  17. really, weight forward at the start of the swing isn't a requirement to solid contact. just at impact. i struggle with shifting my weight to begin with so i do the same thing you do with the weight ratio. i honestly don't see why people feel the need to have the weight on the back foot on the back swing. anyone know why people do this? does creating a weight transfer create more power than just weight forward?
  18. I understand that. It's just I find it much harder to hit a push without deep hands. It's always a pull. Opening the club face at address and being flatter at the top has helped me not pull shots. Simple as that. I understand the ball flight laws about as well as I could at this point. Not that they are hard to understand or anything.
  19. That's a great idea. I met a kid at the range this summer who is 14. He can drive the ball (not carry) maybe 250 but can only hit his 7i like 120. He has a good swing and hes very straight. But the point is he has an amazing short game. He's about a 2-4 handicap I'd guess based off his scores in junior golf tournaments. I have played with him before and his ability to get it close when he misses the green is just awesome. He has the technique down for every type of shot. I've seen him practicing in the bunker and gets most of the ball within 5 feet. 10y bunker shot, about a 7 foot deep bunker that is hard as hell. Have him work on the short game mostly. Get him clubs fit to him, as surely a younger kid needs much more customization than someone fully grown. This 14 year old kid will be insanely good by the time he graduates HS. He's only about 4'6" and skinny! He'll get stronger and taller and will develop a great long game to go along with his extremely consistent short game. Last tournament (on a course rated 70.0/126 i believe) he shot 73, 76 or something like that maybe not in that order. He gets up and down a lot. I think this is the best place to start not just for the sake of having a good golf game but because he won't get discouraged as easily with the short game. He will progress and naturally take an interest to the short game (if he likes the game, that is. don't force him of course). I've seen plenty of kids younger than 10 putting with their fathers or grandfathers. Only one of them ever seemed discouraged when he hit a bad one, but it looked like more of a feeling of dissapointment because he knows he can putt better than that. sorry for the long response, but i feel this is an important matter
  20. This driver looks like a piece of poop next to any 2009/2010 model driver. You have to hit the thing just perfect.
  21. The point of the video was simply to show ball flight (the start of it anyway) as they relate to positiong at the top. Obviously this is a terrible video for anything else.
  22. Couldn't agree more. I feel like this site can teach me more about striking a golf ball correctly than a lot of PGA professionals (some are just downright bad and only want your money).
  23. That would be very helpful to have something to hit at. I can just tell because I use an aim stick aimed exactly at a flag stick and if it starts out right of that then I know I pushed it. But I never really thought about how a straight or pull draw actually draws much more (even hooks) than a push draw and thought maybe I was swinging too inside out. Of course I wasn't, it was simply too closed at impact.
  24. I was just watching this video about Moe Norman's swing and was curious as to if this is a good idea or not. Obviously, it worked for him. I feel like my driver is not flat on the ground (my hands are too close to my zipper so the toe is up) and that more extension could help that. But it seems like not many others do this. Obviously, it worked for Moe Norman. Thoughts?
