  1. I'm not too keen on what different features in a shaft do. i.e. Kick point, soft tips vs. hard, or anything else. I assume this is something I need to pay attention to, so someone take me to school! Thanks a lot, Ryan
  2. I'm actually not going to vote, because the way I do it doesn't fit into any of the choices except maybe the putter or irons. I just got a bunch of new clubs last year, and I should have some wedges coming in the mail in the next day or two. I'll probably get a new driver next year and maybe a new 3 or 4 wood in the next couple years. Wedges will be replaced if I find something better or if they get worn out. Putters will come and go with moods I guess. I'm using a really awesome belly putter right now, and unless I find one that helps immensely, it'll stay in the bag. Interesting post! Good luck, Ryan
  3. I usually play much better if I'm not stressed out about anything at home or at work and if I'm with friends that I can have a good time with that I know I won't hold up. I have a lot of friends that are around the same handicap as me so if I hit a bad shot and I see them do the same thing it makes me feel much better and have more confidence. I know it kinda sounds mean, but when the people I'm playing with struggle for a hole or if they compliment me on a few shots it just relieves my nerves. On that note, I try to compliment everyone else's shots and tell them that they'll be fine from that spot and that it could've been much worse...things of that sort. Good post! Ryan
  4. Golf Digest here..I like the little booklets in each issue. I tear them out and put them in my bag. They just have little quick fixes and tips that are pretty interesting. It's also the only magazine that Tiger, Ernie, Anika, Butch Harmon, Leadbetter, and many other of the game's top players and teachers write for. Articles are interesting and fun to read. Might end up with both though since Golf is running a special right now. Ryan
  5. I got this idea by reading the other thread about shoes. I have kind of bottom of the line Nikes and they are fairly comfortable I guess. I don't really think about it that much. I was wondering if more expensive shoes like I see advertised on TV would improve my game at all or have anything more to offer than the ones I have now. Thanks a lot, Ryan
  6. I've also heard really good things about the R7 TPs. I have the regular R7s and I like them just fine. A lot of irons are going to feel very forgiving compared to the ones you have now, so I'd try as many as you can! I also really like the look of the Nike CCIs. We have a demo set at the course where I work and I play around with them ever so often in the pro shop. Good luck, Ryan
  7. I can definitely agree with that. I also try to hit different clubs before I buy anything. As you can see, I prefer Taylormade for a lot right now, but I've been looking at some Nike, Cleveland, and Mizuno stuff. Always shopping, ya know! To answer the question, I'm not loyal to any certain brand, but I do like to have stuff in the bag that I know other people like and that is backed up by a good company. Good luck, Ryan
  8. I use my lob wedge for anything under 100 yards unless it's a chip shot or a sand shot, which I don't get into much for some reason. I can pull off a pretty nice flop shot if need be. Love the ol' lob wedge! Take care, Ryan
  9. My course has quite a few yardage markers on the sprinklers, but I have one for 3D archery and bowhunting so I just put it in my golf bag and it comes in handy! If you can find one used or something for not that much, they're a hoot to play with! Good luck, Ryan
  10. I saw a couple on ebay. They're the new Spin Milled Model, but these have three colored dots on each side of the ==BV== thing. Anyone know what that model is called or why it's different? I'm sure it's just something cool they did on a few of them, but I'm going to order some and I kinda like how those look! Thanks, Ryan
  11. Never even really considered a 2-iron...it was either a 3 and 5-wood or a hybrid. Like the hybrid though! Good luck, Ryan
  12. I have the CG 10s and was actually thinking about the CG 12s. I like the 10s but I'm going to change the lofts on my wedges and I'll have three now. Going with either the Vokeys or the CG12s...thanks for the input, keep it coming! Ryan
  13. I'd be interested to know how to regrip if someone could put up a link that would show what you need and how to do it. Thanks, Ryan
  14. Going to reconfigure my wedge situation. I'm probably going with 50, 54, and 58 degree clubs. I noticed on the website that Titleist doesn't offer anything below a 54* wedge. I like my CG10s, but might go with CG12s or Spin Milled Vokeys. Tell me what you can about features of each and any pros and cons. Thanks a lot! Ryan
  15. I like the Winn grips myself, and they have different options. I'm not positive about cost because I bought new irons recently and haven't regripped. I'm sure it will be worth it though. Good luck, Ryan
  16. I happen to be in the process of looking for a couple changes with clubs in my bag also. I think what you did was correct if it's what you feel comfortable with and if it matches what your course demands. Good luck, Ryan
  17. I clean the grooves after every shot and I'll clean the clubs thoroughly after every 1 or 2 rounds. Take care, Ryan
  18. I watched it when I was working at the pro shop, and I thought it was fairly interesting. Wish I would have been able to pay a little more attention to it! Take care, Ryan
  19. Thanks for your input..I could use some more opinions though! Ryan
  20. Has anyone used them? Like them, dislike them? How do they compare to the CG 10s in head shape, etc? Thanks, Ryan
  21. My boss and the coach at Western Illinois University told me one time, "It's not the arrows in the quiver, it's the indian shooting the bow." The only other ones I can think of are a couple things my grandpa says all the time. "It's a dumb game, but I love it" and if I hit a putt way short, he says "Hit the ball, Sally!" or if I'm way long he says "Whoa, Dolly!" Good post! Ryan
  22. I'm keeping the driver, 4-wood, 19* hybrid, and 4-PW (and obviously putter). I think I'm going to take my 3 iron out of the bag because it's 20* and the 4 is 22* and neither come into play very much. You can see what I have now in my signature. I have thrown around a lot of options with adding a 22* hybrid or adding a wedge. I'd like to add a wedge, and my PW is 45* and I've got 52 and 58 right now. I'm willing to replace my 52 and 58 with maybe 50, 55, and 60. Here's my breakdown of distances. Tell me what you think. D-280 4 wood-250 19*-220 4-190 (carry) 5-180 6-170 7-160 8-150 9-140 PW-130 52*-110-115 58*-100 I'm thinking that if I went to three wedges I could go 100, 110, 120. Any advice will be taken into account and appreciated! Thanks a lot, Ryan
  23. I've got the Callie..pretty standard putter. Basically, what the other people said, the C-Grooves are supposed to catch the ball and lift it up just enough to make it roll instantly. I like mine just fine, and they're pretty good looking. Fairly priced, too. http://yesgolf.com/store/models.php?model=180 Good luck, Ryan
  24. Just ordered 2 dozen NXT Tours from Tincup (Eric). They seem the best for me. Not too much spin but still the feel of a better ball. Good luck, Ryan
  25. I play by myself a fair amount. I work at the course I have listed in my signature as my home course, so I can just jump in a cart and take off whenever I want unless there's a tournament going on. Sometimes I go before class in the morning or after work in the evenings, and if my friends can't go, I just see it as an opportunity to get more holes in before dark! I think it's fun to play alone to answer your question! Good luck, Ryan
