  1. I don't see the marketability of Michelle Wie. She is young and certainly has pulled her share of stupid moves and comments in the near past. At best, she is a press darling and that is about it. But it is a mistake the press is not willing to admit. I think Paula Creamer could and should be the face of the LPGA. She is fiery, has a great smile and has a ton of energy. I think if Ochoa smiled alittle more she would be right there too.
  2. LOL - As much as I like the Cubs, the numbers back me up. Merchandise sales and ticket sales for the Sox plus polls show the Sox as the favorite. Anyone but the Yankees is fine with me.
  3. Hey I will take Faldo over Johnny Miller any day!!!
  4. Pro V1 - best ball out there - I don't mind the NXT Tour and the Taylor Made Black was pretty good. I thought the Bridgestone and Srixon balls were junk though.
  5. I used to go to Cape Cod with my buddies and it frustrated me to no end as a couple of the guys were completely oblivious to the fact that they were slow. One guy would be out there talking in the middle fo the fairway when it was his turn to hit. Then he would take 5 practice swings, if not more, duff his shot and start all over again. Carts or not, he was slow. Played with my friend's father in law last year, we walked and he rode. We would reach the green on the par 3s before he had even teed off. Told him that he needed to be faster and he just didn't get it. It is all about how fast you want to play and how responsible you are.
  6. Have not taught it to them yet, they are still in NC while I am working in CT (sucks). Bu they will know Smoltz very well. They do know how to scream "Go Sawx!!" already too. A friend of ours in NC is very good friends with Smoltz and I would love to play some golf with him especially since he is now a member of America's most beloved baseball team. I love getting my boys in on all of this stuff too.
  7. Congrats - I have a buddy of mine - 9 handicap - good stick who has never had an eagle. He is so itching to get one too and it just hasn't happened.
  8. Regardless, congrats to Tiger and the new cub. Since his Dad meant so much to him, I am sure this means a lot to him too.
  9. My boys (4 & 2) have been exposed to golf as I have it on TV and they know I go off to golf on the weekend. They love playing with my golf hats because they get to be like me. But that is about where it ends. We have brought them over to the driving range but it is too stressful for my wife as they are too active. They have their own little plastic golf clubs but those are pretty much destroyed now. I figure in due time, it will all happen but right now, they are just too young. I do get a kick out of the fact that they know what Titleist is and know that relates to golf where my Red Sox hats are baseball and Michigan hats are for football.
  10. Actually both clubs I belonged to down South encouraged walkers to take the sand bottles to refill their divots. Worked out fairly well. In my experience, slow play has everything to do with people being clueless, regardless of driving a cart or walking.
  11. The club I used to belong to had the same foursome that teed off first every Saturday. They made it around in 3 hours no problem, walking. They played their games, talked to each other but moved it along. Guys with carts playing behind them had toruble keeping up. If you want to walk, then you should be able to do so. It is the clubs job to keep play moving and if you are walking and falling behind, then they can say something.
  12. I will watch it simply because it is golf and they have a decent product with some good stars. I will take any tournament with a good tight battle down the stretch and watch it. And I like to watch some good looking women golfers play too.
  13. Golf in general has a bunch of motor-mouthed announcers. I can relate that to the Johnny Miller factor where Johnny thinks everything he says matters and the other media outlets praise him for "speaking his mind". One reason why I liked Curtis Strange, he announced golf, gave some perspective about the Tour but didn't overdo it. Keep it to the golf and not the flair.

    type of grass

I play in both the NorthEast and in North Carolina and there is some vast difference in the type of grass on the course. The Bermuda grass in the South is a lot more coarse and the ball can sick down into it much easier. Perennial rye can be a lot more thick but can have some more give. I find that there is a lot less spin when chipping out of rye (more run) but that Bermuda can give you more fits as you know less what the ball will do when hitting out of it.
  15. The shirt is tasteless, so Magee should have had the sense to keep his mouth shut over the tasteless shirt. But at the same time, I hope it is just a slap on the wrist and he doesn't lose his job over it.
  16. Tim Rosaforte too
  17. If you look at AK's swing versus Villegas, I think AK is much more fundamentally sound. I also think that they hype component will catch up to Villegas too. His notoriety for his "spiderman" way of looking at putts and his bad dress will keep him in the spotlight for a while but I think AK has way more game in the long run. Villegas was also the guy that the other pros voted most over hyped.
  18. I am thinking that AK will win first after watching Camilo this past weekend. I don't think Camilo's swing is good enough nor do I think his putting is there yet. AK seems to have a much better overall game.
  19. After watching the Tour yesterday, I found Camilo's swing to be fairly awful. There is nothing smooth or fluid about it. I did like his takeaway but his need to just wail away on every swing seems kind of hackerish. I wonder if a swing like that holds up for a tournament, season or career.

    i am so sore.

Not to mention a lot of guys would be begging to be sore like that right now - it means you got to play golf!!
  21. Lee Westwood has been playing some good golf as of late and I think AK and Martin Kaymer have the game and attitude too.
  22. Elkington has the most classic swing, Ogilvy and Els for most fluid. Best can mean a lot of things I guess. Worst to me was always Greg Norman - he never seemed fluid - more like he was always p*ssed off at the ball and just way too robotic.
  23. Ryan Moore looks like the 4th Jonas brother. There is style and then there is what he wears. I agree with iacas, I don't think anyone wants to sponsor him.
  24. Someone mentioned 'Missing Link' by Rick Reilly which may be the best golf book and one of the funniest books ever written. He had a follow up to it that came out a couple years back called 'Shanks for Nothing' which is just as funny.
  25. I am hoping Kim gets an endorsement deal so that she has to wear a hat and get rid of those obnoxious head bands.
