  1. Before I put a new shaft in I would get a quick fitting, see what the LM says, also get the loft checked. I've personally gotten much better results changing loft than changing shafts.
  2. I really should think more about bounce and how to utilize it. It doesn't help that I have no idea what the bounces of my current setup are. I'm building a new set of irons, and at least I will know what the specs are for them.
  3. Wrong thread, I assume? Back to the OPs question, I think it will reduce your spin, give you a bit flatter ball flight and more roll. I don't think it will change your LA too much, at least that's what I've found with drivers and fws. As with everything though, the answer is "it depends."
  4. I would love it if the trend was to smoke pipes rather than cigars. Just a little bit of cherry cavendish in the air is olfactory heaven to me, I have no idea why.
  5. My game stinks enough on it's own. I don't mind others smoking on the course, as long as it doesn't slow down play.
  6. I am definitely on the cheap side with my bag, but I really like it. I like to go used on the irons, new on the driver, build my own fws, and can go either way on the putter. My current bag, including shipping: $50 for the Ayrtime driver (new), $60 for the Laser irons (Ebay), $4 for the lob wedge (thrift store), $20 for the putter (new), $30 for fw heads (Hireko and Golfworks) and $30 for shafts (pulls), $5 for bag (thrift store).
  7. I'm sorry, but I can't understand why a scratch golfer who drives it 360+ is asking equipment advice on an internet forum. It sets off my BS detector.
  8. FYI, rockbottomgolf has the GCs for $189.99 with free 2nd day shipping, if you prefer not to deal with Ebay.
  9. Dang it, now I want a set of those.
  10. Several members here have bought the Electric Spin Launchpad, here is a thread. http://thesandtrap.com/forum/showthread.php?t=19130
  11. I usually check pricewatch.com, they tend to have good lines on refurbished computers.
  12. Maybe a little OT, but I came across this interesting item the other day. Tiger's driver
  13. I always thought it was interesting that Ram in the UK has a completely different lineup than in the US (at least last time I checked) with more of a midrange price point rather than the bottom of the barrel stuff they are selling here these days.
  14. Back in 1980 my class (2nd grade?) did a mock election. I voted for John Anderson. I found out that night that my parents were voting for Reagan. I still stand by my vote.
  15. If you earn money in the US you have to pay income tax on it. I believe you can get out of the payroll tax (Social Security) by relinquishing your citizenship. Oh, but then don't try to collect social security. One of my favorite adages: No one ever went broke paying taxes.
  16. These are great covered clipboards, don't know if it is quite what you are looking for. The 10507 looks like it would be a good size for a scorecard. http://www.nicetoys.com/Saundersaluminumsnapak.html
  17. So can we assume that you aren't going to mess with the lofts? Heck, to get that kind of an improvement I would be willing to take two clubs more! Congrats on the low scores. BTW.
  18. According to ironfinder.com the R7s are about 2 deg stronger than the X forged, so it may not have just been the shaft.
  19. I agree with rebby, just tell everyone that you are using "traditionally lofted" irons.
  20. Strengthening the lofts will decrease the bounce, so the leading edge will tend to dig more (I think).
  21. The only irons I can find that have a 10 iron and a PW are Nickent 3DX, and the lofts on Nickents are considerably stronger than your X forged. That's why they need a 10 iron!
  22. I never get the terminology right, maybe it was more like a short punch shot. I ended up taking a mulligan after the club broke and used my 7w instead, put it 6 ft from the hole. Did I mention that I was hitting across the road from the hole? Luckily I have a 27 deg. hybrid waiting to get shafted up, I guess now I have a reason to do it.
  23. I had a weird thing happen today. I was chipping up to the green from about 70 yards, had to get it under a tree limb, so I grab my 4i and hit a little punch shot and the head of my iron goes flying! I hadn't actually used that club on a full shot all round, but had hit two similar punches. The graphite shaft broke off under the ferrule, the fibers were twisted and torn. How does this happen on such a low power shot? I'm really bummed because I can't just go get a replacement shaft, since they are 15 yr old OEM shafts. They are taper tip, too, so I can't even tip trim an aftermarket shaft to try to match it up without reaming out to .370". I guess I should be thankful that it was on a chip rather than a full shot, I had a different 4i head let go once on a tee shot and the head went 70 yards. I should probably check the rest of my irons.
  24. I play graphite in my irons to minimize my tendinitis, but am thinking about going to steel in my fairway woods, so I can play them at shorter lengths without adding weight to the head.
  25. I personally like polar fleece tights under my rain pants.
