    Looks like a fun crew!
  2. On the range this evening and found this gem. Not quite up to par with Christmas or any of the major holidays, but it felt like something.

Back when he was a slob he won. Then his fiancée left him and he got in crazy good shape and he didn't win. Maybe he plays better as a bit of a slob. I was a huge DD fan back in the day. Good to see him back in the mix.
  4. The pro who I worked with in college was a +3. I asked him once why he never tried to play a tour and he explained really quickly how much better those guys were. I played Le Triomphe in Lafayette, LA the week after the Nike tour's LA Open with the course set up for them. I was a 0.4 at the time and played a heck of a round and shot a 76. I worked my butt off to shoot 4 over after the Nike tour guys just put up some great numbers. There's a long way between scratch and playing for a living. I'll settle with my real job and playing as a hobby.
  5. 10 years ago when I played multiple rounds per week it was no big deal. Nowadays I don't get to play often so I'm not going to play with someone I don't like. My free time is too scarce and every minute I spend on golf is still a minute away from my family (that's about to change since my oldest two kids are more and more interested everyday).
  6. Taking out Dave was a good strategic move. The girls should leave Brian in just because he's volatile and disruptive to his teammates. I give my wife grief for her reality shows and here I am getting sucked into one myself
  7. Calc made 9 in a row once. That's the PGA tour record. Man he was good when he got in a streak!
  8. That will help immensely! My parents' club has a slope of 128 and I don't remember the university course slope.
  9. When I was your age I moved from a 10 to a 5 quickly, but it took nearly two and a half years to go from 5 to 0.4. I had a good coach and made time to practice regularly. The biggest obstacle holding me back was the opportunity to play challenging courses. I was a college kid...the university course was not difficult, my parents' club course was not difficult, and the more challenging courses were at a price point where I could only play a round per month or so on them. You can only get so good playing only driver/wedge type courses. You will probably find that you can improve quickly, but there will be a point when you plane out and the measurable improvement slows down. I bet you can get to a 5-6 pretty quickly if you make it a priority.
  10. 3 birdies in a row is the best I've done, but in college I once made eagle, eagle, birdie.
  11. I have a natural draw, but when it all goes south it becomes a hook. If I was going to battle one or the other I'd pick battling a slice. Most courses I play seem to be more forgiving for a left to right player.
  12. It wouldn't be an issue where I grew up (South La) or where I am now (Nashville), but I did live in the bay area for a while. I got REAMED by an Asian man for speaking to his 20 or so year old daughter at the San Jose muni course one afternoon. I mean reamed. All I did was say hello so I wouldn't startle her when I walked behind her. Didn't make that mistake again
  13. I made a hole-in-one in college. Kid on the tee box ahead watched it go in. He ran back to the green to meet me and pulled the ball out before I got there. I was annoyed by that.....and no, I didn't buy him a drink
  14. I'm new here. I used to play a lot of golf. A lot. Then we had kids, work got busy and I pretty much let it slide completely to the wayside while favoring other, more convenient hobbies. I played three rounds in '08 and in a couple scrambles in '09. My clubs have sat completely idle since May '09. Lately I've had the itch. I doubt I'll be able to get back to where I was when I was a flat belly, but I should be able to get back to a 5-6 handicap...maybe even a 4. Yesterday my best bud dragged me to his club for a round. The course isn't long even from the tips (which is where he always plays). I sprayed it around a bit, but managed to score better than I should've and carded a 76. Now I've really got the itch Reading this forum did help rekindle the fire, so thanks y'all.
  15. Yesterday AM I was 195 out on 18. Slight uphill and I hit a 4 iron to 8'. Then I made the putt. It was one of those that makes you want to return.
  16. Last time I played was 7/4/09. I shot a 78.
  17. CPA working in healthcare industry.
